  1. Kenny Williams can't come to Toronto soon enough. Oh wait...
  2. Ortiz starts a first for the Red Sox in a game where not a single putout was registered by a Red Sox first baseman. http://www.thescore.com/mlb/news/791380
  3. Someone shopped him to me in a 20 teamer, a few weeks after I dropped him too.
  4. He has a new one out too but since I didn't like the first one that much, I probably won't bother.
  5. Giavotella OTB if anyone wants someone to plug in at 2B. Looking for a reliever or minor league starting pitcher preferably or else simply a pick.
  6. Another possiblity is that maybe they think Doubront can pitch a few innings tonight and still make his Tuesday start. I don't really see the logic otherwise.
  7. Jenkins until Doubront's start would have made perfect sense. I'm really suprised they went the way they did given the state of the bullpen.
  8. Geez, you have to figure Joba will regress from that 13.1 H/9. Even with all those hits, he wasn't doing THAT badly.
  9. Tepera and Doubront. Tepera makes perfect sense but it seems odd to call up Doubront now when he's only scheduled to start on Tuesday.
  10. That's a good thing. Not point in calling up a starter before the actually need to start. Better to add a reliever expecially given that they all pitched yesterday. Edit: Never mind. Looks like the starter is Doubront and they are calling him prematurely.
  11. I liked my answer fine but this is a better more complete answer. This is why you get paid the big bucks to blog.
  12. Does it have to be? The situation looks pretty grim right now. Sanchez is injured and was a shaky option to begin with. Norris seems to have moved backwards. Boyd has been demoted. Doubront and Wolf really aren't performing that well especially for veterans pitching in AAA. There isn't a good rotation option right now beyond the four that are already in it and though those guys are fine, they are hardly dominant. Smokey can be a bit over the top negative but I think his assessment is pretty fair right now.
  13. A number two upside is more than enough to justify that ranking. Aces don't grow on trees.

  15. The Jesse Chavez treatment.
  16. It's not nothing though. Real talent can be signed in that 2nd year that couldn't be signed otherwise.
  17. The Edgewater is only a 30 minute walk from Safeco.
  18. Well obviously it works out fine if he becomes a very good player but it seems like poor strategy to put two years worth of potential IFA signings in one basket.

Since you're less than half my age, I'm just going to assume you're at least twice as smart.

GD, since you're so good a this... Can you explain the DeKobe reference? Is HOF player Kobe Bryant really no better than Derozan? Is Kobe ********?
  21. Between Pompey's play in the minors and Goins getting playing time in the outfield, you would certainly think it's time.

Isn't DD's ability to drive to the net and play inside worth something? Asking as a total ignoramus here but as a very casual fan it seems to me that the problem isn't lack of ability but more poor use of existing ability. Seems like he needs to be coached to focus more on what he does well in which case he could really be an asset. Am I wrong?
