  1. Yes I know I'm repeating myself but I haven't veered off topic. It's always the same topic. The point I'm trying (and clearly failing) to make is always the same. I know that you don't really care whether or not I compliment you on your rhetorical skill but whatever I'll give you credit for it even though I'm merely telling you something you already know and credit from me or anyone else on this board seems to matter very little to you. That being said making credible arguments and being credible are not the same thing. Now if all you want is the rather shallow accomplishment of making good arguments then fine go ahead and keep doing what you're doing but if you want actual credibility, you might want to drop all the petty insults and name calling and vulgarities that suggest that you really ultimately care very little about what you're arguing about and care only to annoy. Nothing you have ever said has ever convinced me that you have a shred of intelectual honesty. Not about the Rays, not about the people on this board, not about anything. It's not much fun to keep having this discussion with you but if you're going to keep coming back here with the same old shtick, I'm going to keep calling you on it keep telling you exactly why I think's it's stupid and why I think you could do better if you dropped the obnoxious persona.
  2. That's cool but I don't really see how it's relevant. Would they do this to Chris Archer and would he accept it no matter how well it's explained? Should he?
  3. Huh? What about the Rays? Is this something they do?
  4. I just don't think that baseball culture really allows for it to be perceived as anything but insulting even if it might make sense strategically (depending largely as you said on who does get the start).
  5. Sigh... You're hating does undermine your credibility whether you want it to or not. The object of the hating is kind of irrelevant and I should have made that clearer but keep focusing on my choice of language and missing the point if you want. You can either smarten up or keep splitting hairs and telling me to go kill myself. I really wish you'd do the former but I have pleaded with you about a million times to do that and you insist on limiting your interactions with other people to juvenillia, pedantry or vitriol. For the life of me, I can't understand what anyone including yourself is supposed to get out of the way you interact with people. It seems to that if you don't have some mental issue like sociopathy or extreme narcisim you might have some desire for pleasant interactions with other human beings. Do you really just want to be a brat all the time?
  6. Yeah it seems clever on the surface but there's a certain talent level that you probably shouldn't f*** with because it's just not in the interest of the team. When it comes to baseball culture, you have to pick your battles and this one probably isn't worth having especially for a franchise that already has a pretty lousy reputation amongst players and agents.
  7. Is it even a good decision though? I mean I understand the rationale but this is a 29 year old guy who gave you 185 IP last year so durability shouldn't really be an issue. Like Dinger said, why not ring every inning out of him? His career splits aren't that extreme either. He's not a lock to get destroyed or anything. This might be a simple case of over-managing.
  8. I seems pretty obvious that the idea was to skip his start and use his roster spot in the interim. He has an option so it's their prerogative. The only thing they did wrong was make a ******** excuse for the move. If they thought that the ******** excuse would make the demotion less insulting then they miscalculated.
  9. Copperweld: I feel the need to dictate to everyone exactly what they should or shouldn't understand out of everything. I'm basically neurotic.
  10. They took advantage of his options to tuck him in the minors and use his roster spot while they skipped his start. The fatigue excuse is just a smoke screen. I would like the move just fine with a lesser pitcher but this seems like needlessly babying and insulting an assett. They further muddied the waters by using a ******** fatigue excuse. Seems like the Orioles tried to be a bit too smart here and didn't think this through unless they see upside in annoying an upcoming q.o. candidate.
  11. Just go to arb. One million base salary means it really can't go up that high.
  12. Well this "looks" cool but from what I can tell it's just a rail shooter and those are boring (Rebel Assault also "looked" cool back in the day). This might just be a modern version of the same.
  13. College pitcher? Yes. Advanced? Don't know where you're getting that. That's a belief that's rooted in homerism. Certainly more so than any of what I said. I'm certainly not a homer on Hoffman. I've felt that he's been overrated for awhile. I'm not surprised by his results. Is it possible he's just not that good? Absolutely. I've always felt that way. Top 5 prospect in terms of talent doesn't mean as much as people seem to think it does. Mark Appel was top 5 talent. Heck Mark Appel was considered the number one talent at points and the truth is that he's just not that good.
  14. Ding! Ding! Ding! The only issue with Hoffman is unrealistic expectations which has been an issue for awhile. He wasn't considered a finished product before his injury so there's no reason other than blind optimism to expect him be one now.
  15. I'm not sure what an injured Sanchez does for the Jays though. Can't move him to the bullpen now. Probably have to wait for him to come back to create another trade window and in the interim, the likes of Copeland take his place.
  16. Copperweld. Makes no effort to hid his identity either.
  17. Occasionally, he'll bring an actual, useful, factual clarification but yeah it's 99% verbal diarhea and bad jokes. It's funny for like a day, tops, and then it gets really old as he sinks further into juvenilia.
  18. Not sure why you're arguing with me. Just explaining the rationale for the 35. It's not an arbitrary number. The reason I stated is how they came up with it and really the 35 isn't the issue at all. All fan bases have the same limit. The issue is that the Royals fans are voting en masse for their entire team. That would be the same issue whether the limit was 1, 10, 35 or 100. You are allowed the same amount of votes to undo the Royals mess as the Royals fans had when they created it (which assumes that online votes are even counted at this point, they used to only count those at the end but with modern technology, there's no reason the online votes couldn't be counted in real time and this ballot stuffing would seem a lot harder to pull off without the use of online votes).
  19. Because you get a ballot every time you go to the ballpark and nobody prevents you from voting 35 times in person (roughly the average amount of home games between when the voting begins and when it closes).
  20. Let me catch you up... My point was that there's a contradiction between how you act all smart and at the same time feell the need to make needlessly insulting juvenile comments that point at a desire to antagonize. You are a hater and you make that quite obvious. The object of your hate is besides the point. Frankly, I was just splitting hairs when I called you an *******.
  21. I think he thinks you bred the dogs on purpose. That must be it because I can't understand his objections otherwise.
  22. Oh that... Yeah you gave me a ton of grief for that.
  23. I have my good and bad days just like everybody else. I can be a real dick but it's few and far between so I usually don't get called out on it. Amongst other things, I, for some strange I can't explain, unscucessfully try to pick fights with Hurl all the time. I don't remember what BTS is referring too but I got pretty pissed at him when he criticized me for turning down an offer that he had never offered and that I totally would have taken had he not already shipped the player elsewhere. Either that or it was some criticism I didn't take well.
