  1. So basically you're saying SkyDome was built because they don't have rainouts in football.
  2. Again with the made up hockey players.
  3. GeorgiaPeach would enjoy this.
  4. Other than the uncharacteristically low HR rate, Estrada's performance is pretty much in line with what should have been expected. Acquiring him for pitching depth was a solid move.
  5. Are we looking at the same page? I just quoted what it said above.
  6. What's the problem?
  7. Cool stuff. One big caveat I have about applying this to Estrada is that even though he does indeed have a good changeup he, unlike the players examined in the article, doesn't actually have a track record of major ERA/FIP/xFIP discrepancies. His career ERA/FIP/xFIP rates are 4.00/4.13/4.01. There's barely any variance at all. I just seems more likely that all were seeing right now is a disproportionate amount of outs on flyballs over a small sample giving the illusion of a FIP beater.
  8. Would you mind fixing the URL? The shortened version isn't working for me (and presumably not for others as well).
  9. I alway just use http://sports.yahoo.com/fantasy/. That one always seems free and clear but I have seen other related URLs not work. Yeah, it's weird. Deadpool probably knows all about how that stuff gets programmed.
  10. Estrada has felt like he's on the cusp of getting absolutely hammered for a little while. FIP over 6 in 3 of his last 4 starts but of course you can't time things like regression. He could keep dancing between the rain drops or flat out pitch better.
  11. Kind of interesting that because of roster expansion, Buehrle's DL streak would be spared if he were indeed injured.
  12. I don't think you were on the board when this was published back in 2013 so here you go.
  13. Very true. Sometimes these decisions just kind of make themselves.
  14. It's not about "deserve". He's done fine in his role but if Stroman pitches like Stroman, he's the team's second best starter after Price. SOMEONE will have to go. It will likely either be Estrada or Hutch and I don't see why anyone would make a big deal about either. That's just the way the ball bounces. If the Jays are in a position where they have enough pitching that they have to push someone who doesn't necessarily deserve to be bumped from the rotation, that's a good thing.
  15. Got anything to back that up?
  16. Yeah it's cool that you had enough context to put the number in context and I don't want to come off snarky. It's just hard for me to share your enthusiasm when I don't know anything about what a good foot speed or a good first step generally is. I basically just have to use the eye test to assume the numbers displayed are very good. Getting back to the topic on hand, Pompey looks like one of those guys who could be very valuable without ever being an exceptional hitter through a combination of base running and defense (which isn't to say that he might not also be an above average hitter as well but he at least should have a decent floor regardless). Really cool player who is easy to forget because the team has done so well without him.
  17. Statscast is a great tool in theory but it will never look like much more than a gimmick if they don't put the numbers in better context. I know that they are somewhat limited by the video replay format but putting something like X% above average in parentheses next to the number would make the numbers mean more to the viewer.
  18. He almost assuredly knows the first thing. He very well might not have known the second.
  19. Ryan Goins 2014 wOBA: .212 Ryan Goins 2015 wOBA: .299 Ryan Goins projected wOBA rest of season: .271 Under .300 is still bad but it's not hole in the lineup bad and that's a huge stride.
  20. We really don't know if he can be a productive Major League player anymore.
  21. Yeah Revere definitely has to be in LF. Not sure how Pompey's arm rates compared to Pillar's. I would let that determine who goes in right.
  22. Meh. How many topics get discussed here that never come close to fruition? How many trade scenarios and hypthetical lineups and callups? Seems kind of silly to be a wet blanket.
  23. This is just one topic amongst many.
