  1. Is he the one who refused to come over because of a beef with Ju1ced? Edit: Never mind. Missed Boxy's post.
  2. Mets rotation is nothing to sneeze at.
  3. Going back to his last start against TB, Estrada has been legitimately great (13 IP, 13Ks, 0 BBs, 8 hits, 3 ER). He's had some starts this year where he seemed extremely fortunate not to give up more runs but that hasn't been the case lately. I'll admit that I'm playing the arbitrary end points game but this has been his best stretch of the season. Feel pretty good about him. I thought the other shoe would drop but instead he's picked it up.
  4. I kind of missed the lead up to this but was Barry seriously bitching about his interview getting interupted? That's so lame.
  5. Being able to afford a babysitter and having one available to you are not the same thing and frankly, why as a parent should you have to get one even if you can afford them and they are affordable? Babies enjoy their parents company. Parents are sometimes more comfortable, for whatever reason (including but not limited to financial) having their baby with them as well. Beyond better noise protection, there's nothing to critique here. It's not really about the baby experiencing the ball game at all. I don't know why people keep bringing that up.
  6. Yeah I'd second this. We're just going around in circles at this point.
  7. Yes narcisism is another reason to want a kid but I've seen people get baby fever and it's not as rational/cynical as you're making it out to be.
  8. He wasn't serious though he probaly wasn't insecere either. Some people don't really like kids and that's fine. I'm pretty ambivalent about them myself.
  9. I don't think it's that simple. Some people only do it to cave to social pressure sure but I think A LOT of people have a genuine desire to be parents and they don't have much more choice in feeling the way they do about it than they do in their sexuality. Now they may find it more difficult and less fufilling than they thought it would be but that doesn't mean that they regret it either because the compulsion was that strong. It's complicated and fascinating.
  10. This possibility was raised expecially with Pompey being an inexperienced runner. I forget whether it was the annoucers who brought it up or the board (maybe some combination of both). Anyways, thanks for indulging my question. Do your analysis plus the screenshot would make a good blog post? A game within the game kind of thing.
  11. I didn't think so at the time but I'd probably be more open to it now.
  12. Wow, impressed that a lot of Rangers fans aren't buying what Dyson is selling. Maybe having Prince on their team makes them less inclined to be hypocrites on this issue but I don't think you would get this king of reaction from say, the Orioles board, under similar circumstances.
  13. System is pretty boring right now. You have a very exciting high ceiling, no floor guy in Alford. You have Pompey who is pretty much the opposite and almost too familiar to be considered a prospect now. You have some recent draftees who haven't taken the next step. You have Greene who might be a guy. Jansen might be a guy. I can't think of much else that's noteworthy off the top of my head.
  14. I'm always surprised by the amount of people who do. I mean I don't have a problem with it but I guess I just wasn't born with a compulsive desire to spawn. Seems like a lot of people are. I'm a lot more open to it than I used to be (and running out of time) but I've never understood the people who know for sure that they want one even if they're not in a relationship or anything.
  15. Who gives a s*** about the baby's experience? Just because you had a little ******** doesn't mean you have to be a slave to it. If it's more convenient for you to take the baby then take the f***in' baby and f*** the haters.
  16. Funny-ish story. I was babysitting when the Jays won in 1992. When Timlin flipped to Carter, I had to celebrate in silence lest I wake the kids up. I don't remember if I was able to watch the game from the beginning or not. I know the evening definitely started with a viewing of Disney's Beauty and the Beast.
  17. Yes he peformed admirably given that he wasn't put in the best situation to succeed and I don't say the later to knock on Sanchez because to be fair it wouldn't have been the best position for anyone other than Cecil. It's not all on Gibbons fault that the pefect reliever for this matchup had to be removed from the lineup. We're quiblling about a plan B here.
  18. So it was a misguided attempt to "test" Beltre?
  19. Why should your child be endangered though? I can see advocating for noise protection but anything beyond that is just victim blaming. FFS, let's blame the guys throwing the beer cans not the parents please.
  20. Yeah he's looking more and more like just the same old Goins which though still way better than Cliff Pennington (similar bat, worse fielding) is nothing to make you forgot Devon Travis.
  21. So what if the baby gets nothing out of it? What if mom and dad simply wants to have a life? Why is taking your baby with you such a big deal?
  22. And even that you could pin on Beltre for making a tactical error. That was a huge out potentially and it was pretty foolish of him to go for the close play over the sure out. The announcers even called it before it happened stating plainly that given the way they were fielding, the Rangers were in no position to turn up their noses at the sure out and, sure enough, that's exactly what they did and they booted the ball again. Taking the out would have help calm some nerves and restored a feeling of control.
  23. His splits are great. I don't know if he's ever been tried as a loogy but it seems like he could be a lot more successful in that role than the way he's been used throughout most of his career.
