Yeah basically. There's some kicking around the whole question of repertoire but no evidence that there's anything of note within Drabek's repertoire. There's also an oblique reference to the Diamondbacks pitching coach and wheter or not he's even capable of helping a pitcher.
I like that a lot is getting crossed off the list and in good time but I'm hoping more opportunities to add wins will come along. Maybe an agent gets desperate. Maybe an unexpected trade opportunity pops up. If the worst case scenario is that they are pretty much done then I'm happy with that because at least the team didn't get caught with their dick in their hands but I'm hoping for more.
There's a segment of the fan base that isn't happy unless the team signs the one guy they are most familiar with. Last year, there were fans, journalists even, who said the off-season wouldn't be a success unless Melky was signed.
Is there any reason to think the Jays might make a play on Heyward? Second tier pitchers and an elite defender might ultimately provide a better boost to run prevention than a top tier starter would have. That seems like the only real big FA move that would make sense right now though that doesn't make it terribly likely.
I'll admit that my perspective on him is a bit warped by how bad he looked at the end. Also it seemed that he was really under-utilized during his most productive stretch and not all that productive when he finally was used more but there's probably confirmation bias in that.
You can ban people when you delete their posts and then if you don't actually want the post banned, you can undelete it and the person stays banned. Default is perm-ban though which I didn't realize at first. You have to change that in the drop down menu. Whole thing was just a time consuming chore.
Either there's a trick I don't know or the whole process for banning people is just ridiculously convoluted. I wish you could just click on someone's name and ban them already.
I find the whole interface klunky as hell but maybe I just don't understand it well enough. Also, this conversation should probably be going on in the hot tub but perhaps regular posters are entertained by our shop talk. It uh... humanizes us or whatever.
Yeah the bench though technically full doesn't really make sense right now. There has to be some more moves. Maybe the front office already knows where it can trade some of these guys.
Yeah it's weird that they kept so many guys. I think most of us thought it would probably come down to something like Saunders OR Smoak. Starting to feel like the team could use a new GM sooner rather than later. I get that Shapiro could veto these moves if he wanted to but that doesn't mean that they aren't coming from LeCava. I understand the risk in putting all your eggs in one basket payroll wise but right now it seems like Lacava might be spreading the money a bit too thin.
It's not more than what he's worth. He'd only need half a WAR to provide a positive return but I just don't love giving a roster spot to him in the first place.
Tony Lacava not really venturing too far outside of his comfort zone this offseason and filling the roster with familiar faces. I don't think there's anyone on the projected 25 so far who hasn't been on the roster before, even Chavez had that infamous cup of coffee.
Bring him in as a DH candidate if he wants to take a MiLB deal but otherwise pass. Don't want to commit a roster spot to a project with no defensive value.
