    O.K. So I missed the big hulabaloo and I'm just getting caught up to this thread. Just a word about some of the comments about broadcasters. We all know this board isn't above discussing looks. I'm pretty sure the thread ranking the looks of the Blue Jays was the most popular of the off-season so I'm not going to be a hypocrite and impose a sexual double standard here but I would ask to maybe curb some of the more lecherous and crude comments. They do attract complains from other posters who just want to talk baseball. It's not a big deal every now and then but when it's constant it gets old very quick which is why Gbill finally got banned by one of the mods.

    Yeah he's no longer an exceptional CF, possibly not even an above average one but he'd be an above average corner OF to use late in games and managing to steal 17 bases last year without really getting on base suggests the base running ability is still there.

    Speaking of Lofton, he was still a 3 win player in 2007. Could have been a good signing for someone but his demands were too high. Would have been great for that 2008 Jays team of Shannon Menchkerson infamy.

    Of all the mistakes AA has made, committing to Arencibia probably had the biggest consequences. Traded both Gomes in D'Arnaud in terrible deals and missed out on Martin while he was still cheap. Imagine going back into a time machine and either undoing those trades or at least locking up Martin when he was younger.

    Hopefully, they are doing this with the expectation of replacing Carrerra and not just to cover for the injuries in AAA.

    Was he competing against Carrerra for a job over there? Otherwise I don't see the relevance.

    The worst reliever is Venditte and he's due to be replaced by whichever of Loup or Morales gets healthy first. The team could also turn to Girodo if they get really impatient with him.

    I did not anticipate Pomeranz' return to starting which sucks.

    Padres signed him to a MiLB deal and then dealt him to Houston for Straily (who is now starting for Cincinatti).

    Well no. He's playing very well for Houston. Maybe in a month when Max Staasi comes back.

    Well I'm just saying the two obvious internal options are currently injured.

    I think the team has written off Jimenez at this point. He's been DFA'd and after he cleared, the team showed no interest in playing him. He's only gotten into 2 games (Sanchez has gotteen into 7 and Quintero into 5). I don't think there's anything there except whispers of good defense.

    Current options at AAA are Jimenez and Tony Sanchez. Jimenez has a Thole level bat minus the experience catching Dickey so there's not much appeal there. Sanchez is probably a better hitter but he looked horrible defensively in spring training. Montero was a terrible catcher who could not stick there. I don't really see a viable plan B.

    There was a period where he clearly seemed to get better though. Towards the end of last season, the rocket arm was back. This must be a new injury or he re-aggravated that old injury somehow.
