  1. If the trade off is lower pitch counts and going deeper into games, that can work out especially with the kind of run support he's likely to get.

That Ross deal looks even more stupid now that Powell has emerged.
  3. Holy s***! I only just saw that now. Amazing. I just learned that JPA is Posey minus the rings.
  4. Oh o.k. Didn't realize they applied the same criteria though it makes sense given how liberal they seem to be with that stuff. So Swihart definitely has another year of C even if the Red Sox follow through on their plan to make him a full time outfielder (yuck).
  5. Isn't that only the in-season criteria? Not sure that would apply next year (though Yahoo! plays very loosy-goosy with that stuff anyways).
  6. How long you figure Swihart's going to be in the minors? Boston really served you a s*** sandwich by not letting him get 10 games at C before the demotion.
  7. Starters have been mostly good and occasionally done in by defense and bad luck. Bullpen seems to have turned the corner. The strikeouts can't possibly continue at this rate.
  8. Smoak can look bad and turn around and park one. Not saying it's likely but there's a chance.
  9. Expect some mighty big cuts here.
  10. Some of the worst ball and strike work I've seen in awhile.
  11. Well I don't know about "need" but it was nice to have someone like that especially when the other bats were quiet. He could make things happen through aggressive play.
  12. Yeah maybe Pompey has some stuff to work on. Hopefully he takes care of whatever he needs to take care of.
  13. One thing about Revere that made him interesting was that his approach what the polar opposite of nearly everyone else on the team. Straight contact hitter and a very good one.
  14. That's a good question. There might be legitimate reason why they simply prefer to keep him in the minors. Hopefully, he convinces the org that he's ready because his skills would suit this team.
  15. So does beating a guy who set a positive record.
  16. Biagini is a prospect of sorts. Picked up in the rule 5 because the front office sees something in him. They talked him up in the spring.
  17. Oh I don't know either. I'm just saying that even if it's bad, pushing EE to 1B isn't the end of the world.
  18. Smoak is kind of mediocre but he's not as bad as he looks right now. Colabello might actually be this bad. Overall, it's not a great situation. At best it's serviceable and cheap. At worst, well if it comes to that there are other options like Pompey or trading for a full time bat by the deadline.
  19. Even EE's not THAT bad at 1B.
  20. Pompey is a switch hitter and a defensively valuable player and a good base runner. Could probably provide more value than Smoakabello combined.
  21. Smoak often looks bad, raw power is what keep him around. He'll really tear into it at some point. He's not great but he has a pattern and a track record.
  22. When people post s*** like that, I usually expect like a 5 post history and it's pretty easy to assume they're just here to troll and ban accordingly. His long post history really surprised me and bought him some rope. No way he would have survived otherwise if I'm being honest.
  23. Thanks for doing the research. The guy has a long post history and I was wondering if it was possible that the whole thing was just weird sexual stuff. If so, it's kind of amazing that he's lasted this long.
