  1. The ldeal is putting together a roster that can make a run these next 2 years while also insulating our young core talent. That's why the Martin signing made so much sense. I'm very down for moves that do that.
  2. ^Agreed for sure. I wouldn't be against packaging Navarro with Hutch. I think Navarro by himself won't bring back anything we'd find particularly useful, and it might be time to sell high on Hutch, I worry about him remaining durable, and Hutch and Navarro combined could land us a real quality player. Perhaps a more legitimate top 3 starter. It's not so much that I don't like Hutch, but rather of all the young talent on the roster that I'd be willing to deal, I'd be more comfortable dealing him than say Pompey, Stroman, or a top prospect.
  3. Well yea. I didn't like that trade to begin with.
  4. From what I've read and heard, talking to friends who are Tigers fans and hardcore draftnik and prospect fiends, Travis projects as an above average defender due to a tremendously high baseball IQ. Same way on the base paths (above average baserunner and base stealer despite only average speed). And tools are solid/good despite his small stature. The high baseball IQ likely translates into some versatility, though his ideal spot is definitely 2nd base. The point though, is that Valencia is great against lefties, and can backup the corner infield. Having a lefty DH who can mash righty's would be a good way to keep costs down, while not losing much from the 5th spot in the batting order (with a platoon), and providing EE with some protection that noone currently on the roster can provide.
  5. Technically both would provide depth on the corner infield. Considering Lawries and Travis versatility I think we could afford it. It wouldn't have to be Francisco specifically, but a platoon at DH to keep costs down would allow us to allocate funds elsewhere.
  6. Assuming there isn't enough money to land a top starter, I'd look to sign Andrew Miller and a LF like Markakis or Aoki depending. I'm worried about the bullpen. Also, I'd look to deal Navarro for more BP help. What's wrong with a Valencia/Francisco platoon at DH?
  7. I have a weird feeling the Jays randomly throw huge money at Hanley to play 2B.
  8. if say the Jays were to sneak into the playoffs and get a wildcard, only to then get blownout 8-0 in that wildcard game like Pittsburgh did, would you feel worse in that scenario than we as jays fans feel now?
  9. This boards obsession with overrating and rushing prospects is extraordinary.
  10. Just got home. Saw Norris K'd a batter, how'd he look?
  11. Youth movement anyone?
  12. He'll likely be around 95 mph from the left side out of the pen (if he were a september callup) with his fastball, and also has a nasty curve. He could very well have a Sanchez like impact, not quite as nasty, but from the left side.
  13. Having him and Sanchez in the pen could be a huge boost come September...
  14. 100 page game thread? Also: 15.2 shutout innings for out bullpen. Wow.
  15. Whatevs, no way they overturn. Make Nathan think more.
  16. f***ing Stro. Now we need the lineup up to deliver. Lineup is 3 deep, so it's pretty much on Bautista. Nathan is dicey these days, so we gotta chance.
  17. A bit less power, a more patient approach. But yea.
  18. I thought tthat was dropping in the gap for sure... Gose didn't even leave his feet. Speed!
  19. Norris could be a nice fit for our pen if we do indeed make a playoff run (2nd wildcard, plus win). I badly wanted us to trade for some bullpen help, but Sanchez and Norris could end up being the help that we need. A bit of a risk, but how fun would it be to go deep into the playoffs with Sanchez and Norris as top 7th/8th inning guys before Janssen? Assuming they succeeded of course.
