  1. Off the top of my head, our #3 and #5 through 9 hitters probably have a combined career total of about 12 home runs lmao
  2. Most of the struggling secondary players are at least contributing with their gloves and accumulating positive WAR. Gimenez, Kirk, Roden and Clement are all putting up positive WAR despite their bats being cold. I don't think a couple of no defense, 20+ homer types (aka the kind of Free Agent pickups that this board clamors for) would be providing much more value than they are. The one guy who is really sucking big time is Will Wagner. He's a negative on defense so needs to hit but he's not at all. His projections are so good I'd keep playing him but 3B is the most obvious spot to improve at the trade deadline right now.
  3. This division is not that good. Yanks project the best and they top out at 87 to 88 wins. They are an Aaron Judge injury away from a losing season. As for the homers, regression to the mean from nearly everyone should provide A LOT more and I don't think we need to lead the league in homers to get to 88ish wins. We are going to slap hit our way to the AL East title and everyone is going to learn to love it.
  4. Yeah if we want to win the AL East these are the games we gotta win
  5. The gist of what you're saying is correct. Ideally we'd have studs at #3 and #4 and that would move Taters and Springer down. We'd also have more starting pitcher depth and another high leverage reliever or two. Even the optimistic take entering the year would admit that we were a team with a mid-80's win projection and had some holes. That's not good enough with a Top 5 payroll and not a ton of success previously. That said, this schedule has been a gauntlet so far. Look at teams like the Red Sox who are finishing up their SEVENTH game against the ChiSox so far. We only play the ChiSox 6 times all season. So to be 12-11 isn't a bad spot. Need to make sure to finish this road trip strong and then the schedule becomes pretty normal for a while. Starting the end of May through the ASB it becomes "easy". Still gotta win the games but it will help.
  6. Yeah I'm not counting Kenny Powers he was the guy we face before this run of aces But I agree we should have nailed him
  7. No need to panic guys. The offense will get it going. This is the run of starters we've faced the past six games. Schwellenbach Strider Woo Gilbert Castillo Brown We won't run into a gauntlet like that again until we easily make the playoffs. Most of those guys have been dominating everyone they face. That's not to say that the offense has been good enough so far. It hasn't, especially in the power department. But things have been going better than the Chicken Littles have been shrieking about. And it's hard to gauge when you face a run of starters like that. Starting tomorrow we see a drop in quality of the SPs we face so hopefully the runs follow.
  8. Yeah I'd like to see Barger play as much as possible because of his power. But Clement has better defense and perhaps with the short porch in left they think that Clement might be able to pull one into the seats. He can pull the ball in the air.
  9. Good lord Brown is dominating right now Pinpointing his spots with 98-99 velo on the fastball and 89 on the slider
  10. Brown looked really tough that first inning
  11. Good move. We've got an offday Thursday and Monday so we can just skip the 5th starter spot and still get all of the starters an extra day of rest so long as we use the 5th spot on Tuesday the 29th against the Red Sox. This would allow us to use Bassitt in the Yankee series instead of Schultz/bullpen day. And then we get an extra reliever for the week in Walker.
  12. Triston McKenzie was DFA'd by the Guardians. He looks cooked but still only 27. No options left makes him pretty unappealing because whatever issues he has would need to be worked out on the MLB level. But with Easton Lucas crashing to earth it would be worthwhile to look under the hood to see if there is anything we can fix (which I doubt).
  13. 2-4 wouldn't be the end of the world so long as we don't get swept by the Yanks. 3-3 is a good, realistic goal though. Looks like we will be getting Carlos Carrasco for one of the Yankee games but they'll be facing Easton Lucas in the other. Hopefully we can split those and then it comes down to Gausman vs. Schmidt for the rubber match.
  14. Haha I wouldn't say he sucks I'm just preaching a little caution with regard to his crazy hot start.
  15. Gausman vs. Brown Bassitt vs. Blanco Francis vs. Gusto The pitching matchups are pretty even. Today is probably the only one that I'd tilt their way. Our pen is more rested than theirs. All of their top guys have thrown 2 out of the past 3 days. Their offense is scuffling badly to start the year. They rank toward the bottom in most categories. Going to be a really close series. Coinflips for all 3 games. If we can survive this 6 game road trip we should be in good shape as the schedule finally softens up a little.
  16. Those off days are going to help Lucas currently lines up to face the Yankees on Saturday in NY. We might need to treat that as more of a bullpen game.
  17. Losing Sandlin sucks Silver lining is that Tate/Schultz should be an improvement over Barnes. Both are true multi-inning relievers and we should consider reducing Lucas' innings moving forward with those two around. Lucas' next start lines up to be against the Yankees. Would be nice to have Tate/Schultz available. Have Lucas try and get through the lineup one time and then have a really short hook on him hereafter.
  18. Jake Bloss looked much better today. 4.2 IP, 6 hits, 0 BB and 7 Ks They would probably like to see him do this more than once before he gets the nod but his start does track Easton Lucas' spot in the rotation
  19. Gotta move Springer up to 4th. When Varsho is back, he's probably worth trying at 5th. Gimenez is fine if he's hitting 7th but 4th is a stretch.
  20. Wow! I guess I shouldn't be surprised but seeing these two idiots (one of whom is named after a disgusting sex act) using the Easter holiday to levy attacks against fellow posters on the board is a new low I guess the only good thing to come of it is that any pretense of them being actual Jays fans is now gone. The giddiness that they display after a Jays loss against the hated Mariners is something you'd see straight off of a rival message board Given their love of all things Orioles (as noted by them rushing to the O's defense after a 24-2 drubbing), I think it's safe to treat them as such moving forward. Very nasty people whose opinions should be completely disregarded
  21. After today's game, 3 of the White Sox 5 wins have come against the Red Sox so far this year. They are 3-3 against the Red Sox this year and 2-13 against everyone else. They've played 6 times already and they play again tomorrow! Red Sox schedule has been complete cake up to this point
