  1. So you’re saying a single heckler’s voice will carry throughout the dome? All it takes is one hero to stand up, do the right thing, and possibly turn this season around. Who will have the courage?
  2. Two things on this whole Jarren Duran trying to fight a heckler thing. 1. Any Red Sox fan showing any indignation over the heckler is rich given the vile filth that is flying out of the majority of their fans’ mouths on a nightly basis. Very nasty people. 2. With the Sox coming to town this week and the Jays scuffling I would like to remind all Jays fans to remain polite and respectful. That is until Duran comes to the plate in a big spot at which point we need a few courageous fans to unleash on him. Yeah you’re probably getting kicked out of the game but we absolutely cannot fall any further behind in the standings right now.
  3. Lukes and Barger seems like better bets to pull the ball into right field as well
  4. Get him up here. He's the king of pulling soft flies 350 feet. This joke stadium is made for him.
  5. A 9 for 90 series will knock you down a few pegs
  6. Carlos Carrasco is exactly what we need to get the offense back on track I'm predicting 10 hits (9 of them singles and only one of them with RISP)
  7. Since we are so absurdly power starved everyone around here has lost sight of the fact that avoiding outs (aka OBP) is still the most desirable batting skill. Wagner was pretty elite at this through his time in the minors, hence the favorable projections. I think one of the problems that guys like Wagner have though is that if you don't have power, MLB pitchers who have better stuff and control will live in the zone against you a lot more. And if you don't have the hit tool to match your elite swing decisions you might not realize the projected OBP. I'm sure the projection systems have dealt with guys like Wagner thousands of times but each player is different and not all of them can overcome it.
  8. Vlad was hauling ass there And he almost bared ass with whatever the hell was going on with his pants after that slide lmao
  9. What the hell is Taters swinging at lol, that ball was 2 feet off the plate
  10. You know Vlad is good for at least one so only 14 more to go
  11. Risked my board reputation (which is literally the only thing I have going in my life after my 3rd divorce was finalized last week) on a pro-Nathan Lukes take earlier today and the Jays don't even put him in the lineup tonight 🤦‍♂️
  12. Even at .500 we are off to a good start with this schedule The power will regress to the mean and when it does we should be able to pair it with good team AVG and OBP to score enough runs for our elite defense and good pitching If we can get to the trade deadline while in contention we can trade for more power then Need to nip this losing streak in the bud though or the "good start" won't be so good anymore
  13. Lukes hits a home run and is rewarded with a seat on the bench This team really does hate hitting for power doesn't it?
  14. I don't disagree with the sentiment here but Lukes might not be a run of the mill bench player is my point. It's rare, but old guys do break out every season. His ROS Zips projection right now is 2 WAR in 296 plate appearances. His "Zips600" for him is over 4 WAR! Yes, that WAR value isn't coming from him hitting for power. But does it matter? It's not like he's projected to be a bad offensive player, it's just built more around his OBP (remember how important this stat used to be?) and his defense I'd take 3 WAR out of a good defender with a .333 OBP over a 1.5 WAR player who hits 25 bombs but has a .310 OBP and sucks at defense, not that we even have that choice right now anyway
  15. I think you have to consider it with Wagner performing the way he is. They both seem to suck at 3B defense so whichever one is hitting should stay to share time with Clement.
  16. I am going to get absolutely tarred and feathered over this take BUT here it goes Nathan Lukes is looking pretty interesting: .342 xwOBA this season, dragged down by a .200 BABIP K% of 13.5% and BB% of 10.8% Steamer projects a 114 wRC+ to go with his career wRC+ of 110 so far His updated Steamer600 is 2.5 WAR but I think it underrates his defense a lot Zips (which likes his defense and his bat) projects him for 2 WAR ROS in just 79 games It's going to be interesting to see what they do when Varsho returns. Roden, Barger, Wagner and Lukes are all grouped so closely together. But I think you could make the case that Lukes should stick over those guys.
  17. The pen is well rested and we've got multiple off days coming up Hopefully Francis does his patented no-hitter through 5 but we pull him before its broken up with a homer
  18. Matt Chapman was another guy they let go. You know they loved his defense at 3B but he's a power hitter not a slap hitter so he wasn't a fit
  19. Maybe! If those bats were Ryan McMahon and Luis Robert we'd be a worse and more expensive team than simply running Clement and Roden out there.
  20. Giving him a day off to rest up for the hot steak that he's about to go on
  21. That said we slap hit and defend our way to a 3-1 victory tonight. Book it.
  22. Off the top of my head, our #3 and #5 through 9 hitters probably have a combined career total of about 12 home runs lmao
