    Getting Varsho back will help. He's not an offensive powerhouse by any means but he does provide power and chips in a little offensively with his baserunning as well. And of course there's his defense. So taking one of the 1 WAR types we have and putting a 3 WAR Varsho in over him is a pretty big improvement.

    Good comparison to Adames, Spanky. 8 for 200 makes sense. It's 1 more year than Adames got but Bo is 1 year younger.

    Yeah if we polled that deal the overwhelming majority of the board would disapprove I've been more pro re-sign Vlad than anyone here and it's pretty tepid support at best

    It's mostly due to the tax. I'd need to run the math to get exact numbers but if you give the guy an extra 2 or 3 years on his deal and add 20-30 million to the total contract you probably end up saving a lot more on the lower tax penalties.

    The Sandlin strike 3 that he called a ball, then he plunks the guy next pitch. Also, the Vlad pinch hit AB he called a horrible inside pitch a strike. Vlad now in the hole 0-1 and gets a borderline second pitch that he then has to take a hack at. Just completely changes the complexion of the AB.

    Francis vs. Sugano Berrios vs. Povich (L) Lucas (L) vs. ???. They don't have a 5th starter right now. They could skip this spot and go with Morton on 5 days rest but he's been awful. Gibson isn't ready. They could go with a 45 FV prospect they have in AAA. Probably a bullpen game?
