  1. I missed this yesterday. Turnbull will get one more start in AAA. Hopefully he's good and they can call him up after that.
  2. Yeah he's got to get his splitter back. Optioning him makes sense but I'm not sure who the heck replaces him right now. Ideally you'd like to see Turnbull have a good 4+ inning start in AAA. But I might just call him up anyway. It's not like he'd be any worse than Francis right now. Maybe we should start stretching out Yariel? Sandlin should be back soon. Make Lauer a traditional starter? And team someone else up with Schultz for the bullpen days? A trade makes sense and they can happen this early but I'm not sure it's in the cards right now.
  3. At a minimum they need to move him to the bullpen. If he lets it fly for 2-3 innings he could be effective. The problem is that we are already doing bullpen days with Lauer/Schultz.
  4. The Angels always want MLB ready prospects so we could get Tyler Anderson from them for some Buffalo Boys. I bet they would even trade us Kikuchi. The D-Bags have Merril Kelly and Zac Gallen entering FA, but I'm not sure they need MLB ready position players. Nats would trade Soroka and Trevor Williams and both are having better seasons than it looks like. They need right-handed hitting infielders so they might have interest in Jimenez or Kasevich. The Pirates will move Heaney and they will want MLB-ready prospects to try and contend next year (lol) while they still have Skenes and Oneil Cruz. Don't laugh but I would have my nerds take a look under the hood of Kyle Freeland and German Marquez. Both have FIPs under 4 and if you get them away from Coors Field and the worst run organization in the history of team sports you could see improvement. They are tough to trade with though.
  5. We won't get a cheap stud with a lot of team control but the slop in Buffalo could definitely get us a veteran #4/5
  6. Gimenez has an xwOBA of .323 this year. In 2022, he had an xwOBA of .326 and put up a 6.1 WAR season. He's underperforming his Batting Average right now by 66 points, almost entirely due to a .214 BABIP which is extremely low for a lefty with his speed. He's going to be great.
  7. Fully expecting Bowden Francis to give up 4 home runs tonight against this lineup. But if he can limit all of them to solo shots, the Jays will take this game.
  8. Does anyone plan on reading Keegan Matheson's new book? It came out today.
  9. Turnbull looks like poo but he was worth gambling a million bucks on. If he doesn't pan out I don't think it's a huge deal - they can just cut him loose. And in the time since we signed him, things have changed a little bit too. Schultz, Lauer, and Yariel all look like viable multi-inning guys right now and Beaston Lucas made another gem of an appearance. Fisher looks like a big league guy, etc.
  10. It's crazy how rough of a start this Free Agents class is having. 90% of them are off to bad or even disastrous starts.
  11. We're only a half game up on the Royals in the Wild Card race so we need Jac to flop. I hope he sucks (unless they are playing the Yankees).
  12. You know your team is stacked when this statline is only good enough for an Honorable Mention: Bo Bichette - .281/.325.513, 7 HR, 11 BB, 23 K, 137 wRC+, 0.9 fWAR
  13. Summer is now in full swing, the boys are on a 5 game win steak, Barger looks like the best 3B in baseball, and the Red Sox are having a complete meltdown online
  14. There is nothing like starting the week off by reading tweets like this from our AL East rivals Not even the world's best cup of coffee can compete with this lol
  15. I would like to formally apologize to all of the Yarbrough Fanboys I've been right about a lot of things: Kirk, Lukes, Craig Biggio's son, Ernie Clement, trading that slap hitting Catcher away, the Baltimore Orioles, etc. The list is literally too long to name everything. But I completely bombed letting Yarbrough go. I'm sorry.
  16. The only problem with playing Barger at 3B is that you are more than likely benching Ernie (the team leader in WAR) for an outfield platoon consisting of guys like Roden, Clase and Schneider. I suppose they can rotate Barger through the DH spot sometimes. And in the end, it all probably shakes out fine. They'll figure it out.
  17. It will be interesting to see what they do. Since Barger can play either OF or 3B, you can leave him in the lineup at one of the two spots. And then it kind of comes down to some sort of Roden/Clase platoon in LF vs. Clement being in at 3B. Right now it's tough to take that platoon over Clement.
  18. All hail Addison Barger, the king of the Buffalo Boys
  19. Tough set of games coming up. Phillies, @ Minny, @ STL and @ Phillies. Need to play well here and then the schedule opens up. We get a ton of home games or games against garbage teams heading into the ASB. 6 games against the White Sox, another series against the A's, etc. 2nd half schedule is a lot of AL and NL Central plus the Rockies and Marlins. The team is in good shape right now.
  20. Only 5 games back of the fraud Yankees now, probably 4.5 after tonight
  21. I bet the A's thought they were going to win when they tacked on a run in the 8th lmao
  22. Yep. The guys at the bottom of the order are mashing too. Put the bunt away John.
