  1. This spring training split squad lineup is going to slap hit us back to .500 tonight boys
  2. I might just keep Stefanic since this spot probably won't play much and him being an infielder balances the roster out a little bit better than having another OF. But either way, getting Gimenez back and moving Clement to the bench is going to be a nice boost.
  3. Yeah I agree they won't DFA Swanson but we did just DFA Walker who projects better, has an option this year, and is essentially under cheap team control for the rest of his career. Swanson is a FA at year's end, has zero options, has middling projections, sucked last year and has struggled in his rehab appearances. He should be on a tight leash IMO. Sandlin and Turnbull aren't far behind either. Hopefully Yimi has a quick IL stint as well. This all could shake itself out with more injuries but we have quite the logjam forming. Good problem to have.
  4. Our bullpen is stacked. Not sure Swanson even deserves to be on the big league team if everyone is healthy.
  5. The game will literally come down to whether the 3 home runs Berrios gives up are solo shots or not
  6. A’s have lost 13 out of 14 Need to pummel these guys and take 3 out of 4
  7. That was some epic pitching by the Jays tonight 1 hit to the first batter and that was it
  8. Leadoff walk. Schneiderball is off to a good start.
  9. True: Improved attack angles would lead to better offense False: Poor attack angles explain why we are 11th in xwOBA (pretty solid) and 25th in runs per game (horrible)
  10. Why would better attack angles help improve wOBA moreso than xwOBA? Wouldn't better attack angles improve both wOBA and xwOBA?
  11. Schneiderball is using hitters with a .227 OBP and a .274 OBP, respectively, to lead off for your 500 million dollar man Jays win 6-4
  12. I'm skeptical that attack angles would be responsible for the discrepancies. After all, isn't attack angle (which is basically just process) just baked into the launch angle (the result) anyway? And since xStats use launch angle and exit velo, I'm not sure attack angle is providing that much more insight into why the team's offense is struggling in comparison to its xStats. Further to that, even though we lead the league on 10 degree or less attack angle on hard hit balls, the expected numbers on those balls is still damn good. I'd rather be 1st on less than 10 degrees (keep in mind that's still a shitload of production-it's just not as good as it could be) and 2nd to last on above ten degrees, then to be a team that is bottom 5 in both. Then there is other batted ball data and especially non-batted ball data (3rd fewest strikeouts, 12th in walks) that would show the Jays offense being better than 25th in the league in runs per game.
  13. Taters is batting 2nd. He's going to homer tonight after this clear display of confidence.
  14. This attack angle thing could explain our offensive woes but I would need to look into it more. But even so, a lot of this is probably just plain bad luck. Team xWOBA is .329, good for 11th in MLB. wOBA is .306, which is 18th. wOBA with RISP is .289, which is 23rd. Schneider brought it up yesterday, but we are underperforming our xBA by nearly 20 points (.262 xBA vs. .244 BA). So stuff like that is happening and then compounding the problem is the struggles with RISP which is probably just more bad luck. But even just eyeballing stuff from the lineup to general statcast musings, the lineup should be decent. With Barger, Lukes and Varsho becoming regulars again, the only guys on the team that don't have a bunch of red on their statcast page is Taters and Clement.
  15. This is a huge game. We win tonight and it's a series W with the lowly A's coming to TO for a 4 game set. I can smell the playoff contention.
  16. Probably the worst game yet 4 runs in our last 5 games. Eovaldi gone after 2 innings and we didn't even make them chew through their pen as Latz/Armstrong mowed us down for 5 innings. Francis with a good performance in what seems like forever but we go 0-10 with RISP.
  17. No one is looking for moral victories. My previous post about that Vlad flyout being a homer in Yankee Stadium was a comment on the joke park dimensions that the Yankees play with.
  18. Breath a sigh of relief. Turnbull threw 4+ innings strong.
  19. Steinbrenner Field has the same dimensions as Yankee Stadium so for this year the two parks will match? I guess Daikin Park is the new name for Minute Maid.
  20. That Vlad flyout would have been a homer in Yankee Stadium lol
