    Padres are great at home and the Red Sox are a pretty poor road team. The Padres have favorable pitching matchups and avoid Crochet as well. Pad should take the series.

    Sounds like the plan is: Starting on Saturday for Buffalo One more start for Buffalo Then if all goes well after these two starts he'll come up to Toronto

    They are definitely a team to monitor. I'm not sure they have "waves of talent" coming up or if this current crop of young guys is it. Chaim Bloom drafted and developed them all and I can't say that I've been too impressed with Breslow. He and ownership seem dysfunctional and they also act like a mid market team. I could see them winning the division next year or I could see them flaming out and getting last and neither would surprise me.

    Our best hitters are right handed and we have multiple platoon bats galore to cover our lefties. We have almost no discernible splits as a team fyi.

    Lmao you've been doom posting all year and even yesterday you were calling us Atkins "nut huggers" (all of you Debbie Downers are obsessed with Atkins' genitals and post about it constantly btw 🤢). Now that the team is undoubtedly good (best record in the AL and about to be 4 games up in the division) and playing lights out (45-6 beatdown in Colorado) you have no choice but to jump on the bandwagon, which, by the way, is a tacit admission that all of your predictions up to this point have been flat out wrong! So by all means, enjoy one of the best seasons in franchise history! But if you had any integrity at all you would admit you were wrong and would be apologizing to Spanky, me and the rest of Team Positive (in the form of Swiss Chalet gift cards)!

    The idea that we didn’t get good talent at the deadline is mostly based on Bieber’s delayed debut and fans only judging what’s immediately visible.

    Yeah Freeland is the one viable starter in their rotation right now. They also have 3 MLB-worthy relievers and all 3 are available.

    I don't know if the Pirates just had zero plan of attack against the Rockies or what but hopefully last night shows that we can pitch effectively here, Berrios in Coors be damned. Plus, this Molina guy sucks and their bullpen only has 3 actual MLB arms. Jays need to blast them again. Freeland is their only MLB-caliber starter right now and he's going tomorrow.

    This is valid and is a good argument for why Duran would have been a better acquisition. A lot of the trade deadline is about improving the team right now.

    Cannot wait for him to make his Jays debut. Probably one more start in Buffalo? Perhaps debuting at home against the Cubs on the 13th or 14th?

    Jays low K rate should play well at Coors. Get the ball in play in this park and good things will happen. Jays' defense should also help. "Stealing" any extra outs can be huge. The Rockies' bats are hot though and they are 7-6 since the ASB. Would love a sweep but I won't panic if we take 2 of 3. I will panic if we lose the series, however.

    Truth is I'd probably rather have Duran. Throwing 102 sounds awesome and he's got a longer track record. I'm sure we tried. But he will be making like 17 million or something over his final two arb years. Varland will be getting less than a million each of those years. So that's something like 8 mil a year which can get you something pretty decent.

    We landed the best starter of the entire deadline which counts for something. If you compare the individual deals I think we held our own too: Jays gave up #5.5 and #11 for 5.5 years of Varland. Phillies gave up #3 and #9 for 2.5 years of Duran. Mets gave up #5 and #13 for half a year of Tyler Rogers. Some say 5.5 years of control doesn’t matter for relievers and I think that has some merit, but Varland is making the minimum for 2.5 more years and Duran will be getting paid pretty well via arb. The Yankees pulled their usual heist. They traded nine prospects (ranked from #10–#91) for Bednar (1.5 years), Doval (2.5), and Bird (3.5). But those guys are in arb, Bednar/Doval were demoted this year, and Doval reportedly has makeup issues. We gave up #35 for half a year of Dominguez. The Yanks may regret going quantity over quality. Sometimes those lesser ranked guys can pop. Tatis Jr. was a throw in for James Shields 9 years ago.

    I actually have it the other way around. I think we had one of the better deadlines of any team and I do have blind faith in their rankings.

    That's mostly just one idiot troll that people keep biting on. But yeah this is pretty spot on as we have a ton of guys scuffling. Add in the injuries and it looks like we are running with spring training split squad lineups. Hopefully Springer is back asap and he and Kirk are able to quickly rebound.

    Completely perplexing as to why they didn't add more at the deadline. Imagine if they kept Devers too. The projections don't like them very much so they should cool off eventually but a 3rd possible team definitely plays a factor in the division race. At least we own the tiebreaker on top of a 3 game lead so I think we should be able to hold them off.
