  1. Lol I forgot about him and how horrible his framing was. That guy went from sabremetric hero to zero really quick when pitch framing hit the scene.
  2. We are all trying to tell you this but you aren't understanding it. It's ok, I didn't get it until yesterday either so maybe I can help explain. But just ignore that stupid "DEF" column next to a player's WAR. They put these positional factors in there that make that number worthless. For example, Mitch Moreland is one of the better 1B in the game, and if you scroll down and look at DRS and UZR/150 like we are all telling you to do you will see that. But if you look at his Def column he looks like has always sucked because his Def # is always negative. They downgrade his Def # because he plays 1B and they've done it to the point that even the best 1B get negative numbers. It's better to look at DRS and UZR/150. In 2010, Jose was worth -1 run in the OF according to DRS so he was basically average. In 2011, he was -4 runs, so slighty below average. In '12 and '13 he was actually plus 6 both years. Last year he was -8. That's pretty bad, especially in what ended up not being a full season. It's probably still playable if he hits but it's bad. The point is, Jose Bautista hasn't really been a bad defensive player. Never a great one, but he's only been bad since he was old. So you're theory that no one cared about his defense in 2010 and 2011 when he could hit is just wrong on its face because he wasn't bad at defense then. NOW QUIT LOOKING AT THE DEF COLUMN IN FANGRAPHS
  3. What is up with Ianetta's pitch framing? It's been really good and really bad depending on the year.
  4. No idea. Someone should report him.
  5. Don't be weird.
  6. Says the guy who has more meltdowns than anyone. lol
  7. He gave a good interview. Southern boy happy to be in TO. Says his elbow is doing great.
  8. Interesting. Where does he play? They have a lot of OF. Do they move Cargo to 1B?
  9. Bowden is awful. He's just throwing s*** at the wall.
  10. Oh god did he say we only need one OF because he's going with Pearce in the OF and Smoak full-time at 1B?
  11. I think we need one everyday player and one platoon partner.
  12. He is so damn polarizing. lol I love him. The guy makes so many headlines, both good and bad. Good- Orioles try beaning him and miss. He hits a homer that same AB and proceeds to tell Adam Jones to f*** off the next half inning. Bad- Goes public with his contract negotiations. For a league that lacks star power Bautista is one of the few players who can make headlines so frequently. And he makes them in the US even, I've never seen a Jays player do that.
  13. Outside of hockey posts this is one of the most Canadian posts I have ever seen here. lol And I'm not trying to talk s***, this is actually pretty insightful on why Bautista isn't that well liked here.
  14. Yeah that is true it's not entirely fair to compare the two. But this board seems to view things through the valuation of players, much like GM's do. Seems like almost all of us put our GM-hat on almost all the time. So even though Duquette is a professional and this board is comprised of fans, there is IMO at least a little bit of disconnect with people laughing at Duquette in one thread and in another saying they want Bautista gone because they don't like him.
  15. I am talking about his character. People here hate it and they are letting it affect their decision on whether they would bring him back. Not much different than Dan Duquette who we all laughed at yesterday.
  16. Those are all fine points. But you're also one of the smarter and more stat-savvy posters here so it surprises me that you care so much about how he carries himself. I get his age being a concern though.
  17. Casuals love him. It's weird how the stat-friendly board let's their personal feelings about his personality get in the way of evaluating him.
  18. Yep. Why does everyone here hate Bautista?
  19. Oh ok, you mean on-field identity. Well yeah that makes sense. This team should be pretty good next year but we need two corner OFers and bullpen help. I think one of the two OFers needs to be a good player. There are two good OFers left on the market in Fowler and Bautista. I think we need one of them or someone through trade like Eaton at least. Perhaps Fowler wants too much or he just doesn't really want to come here. Perhaps Eaton costs too much. Bautista is not a bad option.
  20. It's not, it's one of those special Spanish-language inside scoops from Ang.
  21. Why? Back to back ALCS appearances. Packed dome. Lots of headline makers. It's been the best two years of Blue Jays baseball in over 20 years.
  22. Yeah one year too many, same as with Morales. Looking back, same thing with Russell Martin. It usually takes an extra year to secure the free agent. The AAV would be a-okay with me.
  23. I would sign Saunders to that deal.
