  1. He's trolling. Quite effectively.
  2. I read a good article on fangraphs regarding his defense. If you think it's average or good you have a good chance to get surplus value and lots of it on 4 years, 70 mil. If his defense is below average, you can probably break about even on that 70 mil. Not sure that the article factored in the pick though.
  3. Yeah that's one way. They can just assign it a dollar value though. 1st rounders used to be worth around $5 million, or so I once read. The number is higher now, let's call it 7 or 8. Just factor in an additional 7 or 8 million in added cost to signing him. The pick is nice but it isn't untouchable.
  4. The pick isn't exactly gold. Just factor it in to the offered contract.
  5. Good to hear that we are in on a quality player. Steamer doesn't seem to like his bat or fielding though but he'd look great in RF and the leadoff spot for us.
  6. Ray I know you're new but this is a strong start. lol
  7. I'm not convinced that Upton is worthy of even platooning so that said having Revere as his platoon partner would make me nervous. That platoon has the potential of two duds putting up almost no production. That said, if signing Revere for scraps facilitates a move for bigger FA's then I could be convinced.
  8. Why does it have to be a righty? We need at least one or two lefties, righty? Just get some decent arms in here period. Blevins appears to fit that bill. I don't understand what you're upset about.
  9. We need capable pen arms period. No matter what role they end up in.
  10. He seems pretty good to me. His skillset seemed to have changed in 2014 as he saw his K-Rate increase significantly.
  11. I'd like to petition the mods to implement an automatic 24 hour ban for all users who discuss their franchise mode video games. It ranks among people talking about their fantasy teams, golf outings or poker games for the least interesting conversation possible.
  12. Yeah I agree his contract actually isn't that bad. It's probably close to fair market value for him.
  13. He's fine if you assume that more established big name players will be signed as well.
  14. I'd be open to signing Morneau to compete with Colabello for the Buffalo 1B job but that's where my interest ends.
  15. I read that he did make a change. Kind of the Dozier swing for the home run approach.
  16. He's very very good IMO. What don't you like about him?
  17. I'd consider a 2 or 3 year deal for Gomez depending on the AAV. 31, 32 and 33 year old seasons - he should be able to hang on to decent baserunning and defense.
  18. Pompey is a total wild card right now. He could be a 2 WAR player or he could be replacement level. We don't really know and it's not really worth the gamble IMO. He can be the 5th OF in AAA, we need depth anyway.
  19. I would consider it on a team friendly deal to play LF. I think he'll be able to convince a team in to giving him more than what I'm willing to pay though.
  20. I actually don't hate the idea but someone will pay him like he's a top notch player because of the homers when in reality he's a mediocre player despite hitting 47 homers due to low OBP, poor defense (although at 1B he's not as bad), etc.
  21. I sure as hell would.
  22. Has Bautista officially decline yet?
  23. I love his versatility an ability to provide 3-WAR play at SS and 2B should Tulo or Travis get hurt. The problem is that his main position would be LF and he doesn't have the greatest bat there. He also costs a draft pick.
  24. The douchiness is a double edged sword IMO; it's not all bad. It gave us the bat flip and the subsequent Rangers sweep- that storyline might be the best thing the Jays have had since winning the 93 WS. It also produced all those run-ins with the Orioles. Who almost gets beaned and then in the same AB hits a dinger and tells the other team to kiss his ass as he rounds the bases? He did that multiple times too. That might not ever happen again. I'll miss him.
