  1. -Teoscar Hernandez starts in the minors but ends the season with 20+ homers for the big league team -Diaz shines to the tune of a 3 WAR season and by the time Tulo comes back he finds himself out of a starting job -Randall Grichuk hits 30+ homers and provides solid defense, also turns in a 3 WAR season -Morales gets less than 50% of the DH ABs as Gibby turns to other options which include Pearce/Grandy/Teoscar/Tulo/Solarte to go along with resting Travis and Donaldson -Kevin Pillar has another solid season but gets traded midseason to make way for Anthony Alford as the starting CF -The bullpen sucks and is a focus at the trade deadline -Marco Estrada bounces back and has a sub 3.75 WAR -The Jays host the Wild Card game
  2. No but Hernandez would make a lot of sense. Pearce could DH and Hernandez could be the fourth OF and get some ABs at DH. They won't do it though.
  3. Yeah that's pretty rough. They probably could have taken the money they would have given Hosmer and spread it out over several different positions and fielded a wild card contender. Moose, Lomo, Cobb, etc.
  4. 4 hit day for Vlad Jr.
  5. Yeah I think he'll make it. Here's what Wilner thinks right now:
  6. You're just in time friend. The Hottest Jays thread should be starting up soon.
  7. Dermody and then DSJ would be my choices.
  8. Dermody would be my choice.
  9. It's not ideal but what does it really matter if Pearce is playing DH and Morales is on the bench instead of the other way around? Same goes for the other guys mentioned as well. I suppose the occasional in-game substitutions issues could arise but it's the AL, the bench is more useful for depth for injuries moreso than in game strategy. Starting Morales simply because he's overpaid and can't play another position makes less sense to me. His ass will plant right on the bench just as well as Pearce or Solarte's would.
  10. They can DH Travis, Pearce and Donaldson a lot with Solarte playing the field. Solarte can also DH once in a while. Morales is probably one of the worst DH options on the team as it stands so I hope his playing time is cut quite a bit and he's turned more into a bench bat. I'd also be really aggressive with pinch running for him early in games.
  11. https://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/an-interesting-and-bad-suggestion-for-billy-hamilton/ Fun article where Sawchick has a discussion with Billy Hamilton and other Reds players on turning Hamilton into a supersub, meaning Hamilton starts on the bench but then pinch runs as early as the first inning of a game. Decreases Hamilton's ABs while increasing his times on base. Hamilton thinks it's stupid but his teammates throw around some ideas to try and make it work.
  12. That's a good idea. If we don't release him then Pearce should start at DH.
  13. I got 2 in about a minute and quit in frustration. https://www.sporcle.com/games/bbbminorleaguer/blue-jays-waiver-claims-alex-anthopoulos-era
  14. I would hate to be a Mariners fan. That was a team in a similar position to the Jays entering the offseason. The Jays had a productive offseason and the Mariners have not so we are looking at WC contention and they are hoping to tread water to be .500. With prices so low on FA this offseason I don't understand what's going on over there.
  15. Maybe it's not the point yet where they have to cut him to save on all his salary? When is the deadline for that? Perhaps it's later this spring.
  16. What the f***. So Hernandez, Pompey, Alford, DSJ and Carrera in AAA? At this point he's taking AB's away from AAA players who deserve them more. I wonder if they think they need more time for a trade they have in the works?
  17. Lol McCann is a toilet. Imagine getting pissed off and creating a scene after a pitcher hits a home run. Everyone should have been laughing. That Gomez homer is pretty good too. The guy hitting the homer always looks like a badass and the guys complaining about him celebrating too much always look like such sour grapes.
  18. Yeah these guys aren't too shabby. SSS but from what I have listened to they might a little understated, perhaps some would say a little bit boring, but they don't say anything stupid.
  19. #1 is hilarious. That guy had two career home runs and on one of them he has the #1 bat flip of all-time. It seemed like he was being cocky but I wonder if he was just in shock or something.
  20. I think he's at least a league average hitter, maybe even better. But as a DH who plays sparingly that's not really going to get you on a fantasy roster unless it's a deep league. Pitching he should be a solid #2 to #4 type of pitcher. Pretty cool and unique player but his fantasy stock is too high.
  21. I think it'd be fair to ask if Morales would even get a major league deal in this climate. But whatever, every FO is going to have a blemish or two and this one is hardly back breaking. Hopefully he bounces back but I wouldn't even be surprised to see his playing time cut. I'd prefer Pearce get more of the PT at DH.
  22. Yeah he was grouped in with Goins as replacement level talent that shouldn't have ever been on the team but he never deserved that. Much better player.
  23. Not good. Doesn't sound too serious yet but sometimes little reports like this end up being huge news. Last year he had that armpit discomfort and some thought he was seriously injured but he didn't even miss a start.
  24. Yeah I have always thought he'd be best suited for the NL where teams use an extra bench spot and will sometimes carry 5 OFers. He could be the 25th man where he could pinch run, pinch hit, bunt, etc.
