  1. Just an awful place. I'd rather post in Orioles Hangout tbh
  2. We have a huge fanbase that is probably dumber than average. So anytime big money isn't being spent in FA they are up in arms over it.
  3. That plan works although Grichuk is a slightly above average CFer too. Now could be the time to move Pillar.
  4. One of Morales or Pearce needs to go.
  5. It could be better than Teoscar. Is it 12 million dollars better than him? I don't think so. And Teoscar/Granderson is better anyway. I actually really like Teoscar and Grichuk. Power bats who can field. With adjustments they could become very good players. I saw enough from Pearce to know that he just cannot play the OF at all. He looked like Adam Lind out there. I think if they dealt Morales they could put him at DH.
  6. Could be. I think I'd dump him or Pearce. The 6 mil or so we'd get in moving either of them could be used to invest in the bullpen. Might be tough to find a taker for either though. I don't think either is that bad but I don't think either of them are better players than Teoscar Hernandez at this point.
  7. Yeah we are seeing a resurgence in the way Front Offices value relievers. Stat-friendly FO's value relievers more than ever it seems. So that's why a Healy for Pagan deal happens today when it wouldn't have 5 years ago. But Grichuk isn't Healy, he's a guy who can play all 3 OF spots effectively and has a strong batted ball profile that suggests there is some upside.
  8. I could see a trade happening. Pearce, Morales or even Pillar could be shopped at this point.
  9. If that's the case then Buffalo is going to have one hell of an OF. Alford, Pompey and Hernandez.
  10. My guess is Shatkins sees something with his approach that can help him correct his K to BB rate. If he does he'll have a Smoak like improvement and we get a 3 WAR player. If he doesn't he's still a useful player with a close to league average bat and solid defense at all 3 OF positions. Connor Greene's numbers are so bad and while Leone had a good season my guess is he can't repeat it. I like this move.
  11. Crybaby Shatkins fanboys can't handle even a little bit of criticism! The Morales contract sucked the day the ink dried and it sucks even worse now!
  12. Repeating as Co-Poster of the Year just got that much harder though.
  13. Of course you can replace Thole. They aren't Siamese twins. Dickey didn't use Thole last year and was just fine with Flowers and Suzuki. He says he doesn't need a personal Catcher either. I think it's more of a Martin thing than it is a Dickey thing. Martin needs days off anyway so it shouldn't be that big of a deal to acquire someone who can do it.
  14. Well then they are wrong because when he lets the ball go he's better than your average #5 SP. And I don't really buy the latter. Thole wasn't any worse than the dumpster fire that amounted to our backup Catcher spot last year.
  15. It'd be a pretty easy way to get some surplus value out of the #5 spot. Everyone here has their panties in a twist over the way he provides the surplus value though.
  16. His baserunning alone was worth nearly -1.0 WAR last season. I didn't realize that was possible.
  17. Well that compensation plays into the contract we would have to give him.
  18. What's the compensation now?
  19. According to fangraphs dot com and some other articles I've read, Bautista's batspeed is still good but it's no longer elite. His main problem is that his excellent contact skills (which were at or above league average which is great for a power hitter) have fallen off a cliff. His swing is also designed for a ton of loft and with the decreased exit velocity he hits a bunch of pop flies. Unless he was playing hurt and we see a bounce back from being healthy or some other adjustment he makes he's cooked. https://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/is-this-the-end-for-jose-bautista/
  20. I'd definitely bet on Granderson but the projections are probably somewhat close enough that I wouldn't be surprised if Bautista had a 30% chance or so of out WARing Granderson next year.
  21. It seems like FA prices are a bit down this year as well. Now might be as good of a time as any to invest in a multi-year deal for a pitcher.
  22. Yeah Alford and Pompey provide OF depth from AAA. Gurriel possibly too. DSJ and Harold Ramirez are lottery tickets.
  23. I wonder what that footspeed would rank for LFers? Teoscar would be a better backup CF than Granderson (who also has no arm). Given that Pillar plays a high number of games and that we have Alford in AAA in case of a Pillar injury I think Teoscar could fill in for 10 games spread across the course of the season.
  24. IMO Cain isn't happening anymore. We've got about $15 million left or so and here is how we are set up. LF- Granderson/Pearce RF- Hernandez #5 SP- Biagini Cain alone would probably take up the remaining funds we have left. I expect that they'd rather use most of those funds on a SP and kick Biagini to the swingman role.
