    I think Drury's best position is 2B where his bat plays up. Then Gurriel can become the UT guy.

    Agreed. Seems like the type of extension that is given to players who are viewed as more safe commodities. Grichuk's outcomes seem extremely volatile. Seems like the bottom is more likely to fall out then he is to realize his potential by fixing his offensive flaws.

    I'm fine with this but Grichuk does carry some risk IMO. His plate discipline is absolute s*** and it it were to bottom out any more than it already has he's almost unplayable. That said, if he improves it at all then we are looking at a very very good player.

    Oh so Alford was already in TO? I've been in Vegas so I'm out of the loop. That's kind of weird he should be playing somewhere not sitting around in TO. That would explain why everyone is convinced he's coming up then.

    He seemed to relish in the fact that he was now the "clubhouse veteran" but you could be right in that some behind the scenes stuff pushed this deal along as well.

    Yeah I agree.. Moving Kendrys already facilitated more playing time anyway. It's a long season too, someone is going to get hurt which frees up even more playing time. The likelihood of Jonathan Davis or some other turd OF logging 300+ ABs this year is pretty high right now. That said, I'm not that upset about it. It's a rebuild, we create more roster space for certain young players (while not that valuable it's a thing), we pinch some pennies (another thing), we got a lotto ticket (probably the best thing out of this) and a couple of guys that perhaps the FO sees something in (however unlikely). Not happy with it but meh.

    Yeah I don't think Alford has been banging the door down to get into the big leagues. Despite his advanced age he really doesn't even have that many ABs. A half season in AAA would probably do him some good. I wonder if that's still the plan though and they'll bring Pompey off the DL? Or is Alford a given?

    Giants easily win this deal. They are getting ~4 WAR over the next two years at a price cheap enough that is very likely to provide surplus value. Hanson was DFA'd and is out of options. He generally sucks anyway and might not be any better than Urena. Not sure I would even want to bother making the corresponding roster moves to keep him on the roster. I'm not sure what to make of Law, he's been ok in his career and Steamer seems to like him but he fell out of favor with the Giants too and has been below replacement the last two years. Juan De Paula looks like a lottery ticket.

    Pretty surprising they took him out but they probably have a better chance for a combined no hitter anyway.

    Hes not really a fringe player though! Steamer has him projected for 1 WAR in 50 games. He is pretty fun though, his baserunning is hilarious. I've never seen someone fat run that fast.

    Dan Straily was DFA'd by the Marlins. Seems a little surprising.

    Not a huge fan but I'd rather have him back than not.

    What's the appeal with Hudson? Seems like he kind of stinks to me.
