  1. https://www.sportsnet.ca/mlb/article/blue-jays-farm-report-better-pitch-selection-helps-martinez-hit-for-more-than-just-power/ All sorts of goodies in this one from Davidi. -Orelvis is expected to join AAA soon. -Tiedemann back in 3 weeks. -Alan Roden expected to join AA soon. -Barriera could be back in a couple of weeks.
  2. Most prospects are still figuring out AA at age 24? I guess some of them but Top 50 are usually better than that. And no s*** injuries have slowed his progress, in fact they've almost derailed it. The guy has hit 60 innings once in his entire baseball career and that was way back in his freshmen year of college when he was a part-time starter in a small conference. Now here he is working his way through a "rough stretch" in AA as a 24 year old while averaging 3 innings per start. Lol what a stud, let's throw a parade. And I'm not even saying this guy isn't a prospect. Slap a 40 FV on him. Bump it up to a 40+ if you want. Hell, let's get crazy and give him a 45 FV. But the #51 overall prospect? That's amazing. These publications must be huffing the Dodger's paint to try and sell more subs or something.
  3. Well first off he's not a kid, he's almost 25. And he throws such devastating lightning that the 22 year olds in AA that he's facing are spanking him to the tune of a 4.50 ERA across his two seasons in AA. Steamer thinks he'd be good for a 4.68 FIP as a reliever if he were called up right now. He wasn't even that good in college. Amazing how he parlayed 45 good innings in A-ball as a 22 and 23 year old into fooling some major prospect publications that he's a Top 100 prospect.
  4. I got these updates from Fantrax today.
  5. Bumping this because Ruiz has been worth -1.0 WAR so far this year.
  6. Lol BP moved Frasso up even more?? What exactly about this season has them so excited? He's done nothing to dispel the reliever risk tag, instead he's solidifying it with 3 innings per start. And he's not even dominating in those 3 innings. Kloff is running a lower xFIP than Frasso, and he's doing it in over 5 innings per start as an age appropriate 22 year old. Would love to know BP's reasoning for their ranking but they conveniently ranked him #51 so they didn't have to.
  7. Vlad's defensive OAA has really tanked this year. He's horrible at plays in (-4) and to his right (-6), but fine to his left (0) or going back (-1). On the plays in or to the right, does that have to do with his range? Or could the numbers to his right be tanking because his throws to the pitcher bad? Or both? Could this be remedied by positioning him a little more to the right and in? Or would that not necessarily help.
  8. Tom Tango >>>> Roy Firestone Once again the BJMB bests the wretched hive of scum and villainy known as Orioles Hangout.
  9. Get them to throw in one of their optionable fringe starters on top of it.
  10. Yeah he's the perfect guy to move at the deadline. Some GM looking to make a deadline splash would likely overpay for him.
  11. Just got back from a vacation (Thailand). I'm not running to dust off The Sheriff's badge just yet. But rest assured, I will be monitoring this situation VERY closely.
  12. Manoah is back. The offense is back. The playoffs will be easy to make.
  13. No I’m not watching. On a road trip following along on the score app.
  14. He’s not drenched in sweat and sucking wind trying to beat the pitch clock?
  15. Agreed and I think that's why they called him up this early. To get more data on him prior to the break. I think Hurl is right in that they called him up this early to see what they've got up until the trade deadline. If he can show that he can pitch like a decent #4/#5 starter then he and possibly Ryu can hold that spot down for the rest of the year. If not, then they'll need to make a trade for a Lorenzen type.
  16. He takes the same immature approach in his ABs. Hacks away at low and away sliders and he tries and takes the extra base all the time. If he let the game come to him more he'd be twice the player.
  17. I also said the trade was fine so how am I reaching? I demand a full retraction.
  18. He's old for the level and he's also not very effective. He's an okay prospect but he's barely a better one than Alex De Jesus. Both might be 40 FVs. Mitch White probably does suck but he looks ok this year as a 1 to 2 inning reliever. I'm not very hopeful he becomes anything better than that but he's already got .7 WAR and counting for the Jays so far in limited action. There's no guarantee Frasso out WARs him.
  19. Merrifield was nails after the trade last year. 119 wRC+ and .8 WAR in 44 games. As for the postseason, yeah he was 1 for 5 with a HBP but the whole thing went to hell in a hurry as soon as he left the game.
  20. All-Star Whit Merrifield
  21. DeJesus reestablishing himself as a 40 FV prospect and Mitch White looking like a serviceable reliever and that trade isn't looking so bad anymore after it looked like a huge L just a month ago. White looked like he was cooked as he dealt with injuries to start the year but the Jays decision to turn him into a reliever looks like a smart one. They cranked up his slider usage which he is throwing a lot harder and basically ditched everything but his fastball. That will get him through the year and he can try starting again next year though he'll probably just be a long reliever moving forward.
  22. Yep, posters here have labeled them serious contenders now and moving forward. No one here, not even their biggest detractors like me, will disagree with that. People have been much much higher on them than merely saying they aren't pushovers.
