  1. Shapiro probably soaks up a ton of that Front Office budget. He's supposed to be the guy leading the charge to fill the scouting and coaching ranks with studs. And if he can't do it, he needs to hire someone who can. But in order to get some proven stud, they'll have to pay top dollar. Can the org pay top dollar to both Shapiro and a proven GM? Might need to give Shapiro the boot to give us an organizational restructure. And in order to get that proven name, they might want that President title anyway.
  2. Sadly I was already fired after taking Wilco's advice and stealing the autographed Ernie Banks photo
  3. If he sucks or is hurt in 2024 and/or 2025 then we probably don't want him in 2026 for 10 million bucks or whatever it is anyway. And if we do want him in that scenario, we could probably just tack on a year and 10 mil and he'd take it. And let's say he's good and we were wishing we had that extra 3rd year but somehow can't bring him back. Well, that's not the end of the world either as we get out from his 10 mil salary and can spend it on something else. Max is right, 2 years was the way to go IMO.
  4. Not sure why but when both IKF and Clement play together they always put Clement at 3B and IKF at 2B.
  5. I just started a new job and this older guy has signed photos of Ernie Banks, Carl Yastrzemski and Tony Conigliaro hanging in his office. The Ernie Banks photo also includes a signed letter. He wrote them all back when he was 10 and they replied. Pretty cool.
  6. Yeah that's a good point about this past offseason. They had to be licking their chops after the Bogaerts offseason. The money was flying around. But last offseason should give them pause about hitting the market.
  7. Other developments: -A fairly strict KK/Clement platoon looks to be forming -Biggio has only started 1 out of the past 6 games, hopefully he finds himself glued to the bench -Same with Kirk, I think this is them riding the hot hand in Jansen and when he cools off Kirk will play more
  8. -Trade Bo to the Dodgers for a bunch of MLB-ready stuff -Sign Kim in the offseason to replace Bo -Extend Vlad, Jansen and Kooch The WC3 will be easy to make with our 250 million dollar payroll
  9. Yeah there's not a lot to it. Some enterprising fan with the right skillset will give them some competition I bet. Someone like Nestico who is doing a good job with Stuff+.
  10. I went to check out some potential Bo to the Dodgers trades on that Baseball Trade Values site and you have to pay a yearly subscription fee to use that ******** now lmao
  11. Bo is a great fit for them too and they have a lot of upper minors guys who could work for a re-tool rather than a rebuild. Guys like Vargas, Pages, Stone, etc.
  12. Mike mentioned this earlier but their s*** play actually makes extensions seem more viable. If Vlad was raking like 2021 he'd be trying for a Devers-like extension (10 years, 300 mil). Now it seems like he'd be lucky to get a Matt Olson extension (8 for 160) but I could see doing that. Bo never seemed like he was that into an extension but Fangraphs recently suggested 7 years, 151 mil. I don't think Bo would do that but I'd consider it from the team's perspective. His defense at SS has been better in recent years and he should be able to stay there through the majority of the contract. If Bo were raking he'd probably want Bogaerts money.
  13. However, Ben Clemens and Tom Tango wrote about pulled balls a fair amount this past offseason in relation to xStats and they found that pulling the ball doesn't really have that much of an effect on your xStats. http://tangotiger.com/index.php/site/comments/pull-rate-and-xwoba?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=twitter For balls in the air, it does make a difference. But when you factor in ALL batted balls that difference disappears. They conclude: Also, Vlad's only underperformed his xwOBA for 1 and 1/3 seasons. 38 points last year and 33 points this year. The previous 4 seasons his xwOBA was almost perfectly in line with his wOBA. So I think there is probably more noise regarding his pull rate issues then there is signal, as Tom Tango puts it.
  14. No I believe that is basically right sir.
  15. the playoffs will be easy to make
  16. You basically just described xStats, the stat you completely discard anytime mentions them lol
  17. Ok my bad, I thought you meant the batting order. Who plays is more important.
  18. Maybe a game. Batting order barely matters. It's something that's easily controlled so it should be done right, but it hardly makes a difference.
  19. OR perhaps they'll end the month on fire and then we can start talking about the division title
  20. I don't think we are going 10-3 nor do I think we need too. If we did we would be right back in it is all I was saying. And if we were perennial WC3 contenders and had a bunch of gamers it would be very exciting. Instead we've got a bunch of mental midgets.
  21. No he actually pulled two doubles to LF! Then hit another double to CF. And a Single to CF.
  22. Yeah it would be a safe bet for him to extend while he's hot and healthy. Getting hurt again could cost him.
  23. Yeah that was a really tough play coming in on a liner like that but he made it look easier than he should have
  24. I've always been a huge Jansen fan and wouldn't mind an extension. However, we might need to use the money on a different position. Kirk's defense is becoming elite, especially with framing thrown in. His noodle bat has been disappointing but he still projects well and at worst can take a walk as the #8 hitter.
