  1. Springer's xWOBA is holding strong at .331 (.332 last year). His defense and sprint speed are better than last year too and he's still projecting pretty well. He just needs to not get boned on the stats vs. his xstats next year and he should be an average regular. But he's old so he could fall off a cliff any year now but with just two more years left on his deal this could end up okay. It doesn't look great but you kind of expect year 5 and 6 of a FA deal to not be so great.
  2. Good to see them trying out new guys as the year ends. Not seeing many positives with de Geus though the team probably has their reasons for giving him a shot. His velo is decent, he can get ground balls and he has 2 options after this year. Almost looks like a Zach Pop clone though which means he suxxx.
  3. That's just a stupid way of saying we suck which is accurate
  4. How can anyone, with the power of hindsight, argue that IKF wasn't a good signing at this point? We squeezed 2 WAR out of him, most of which was at a position which was considered a black hole, and then traded him for a prospect. It was a good signing.
  5. Why would you love to do that? Didn't you complain about that signing for weeks on end?
  6. So you are sticking by your statement that we will bring in someone better than Jansen to be the backup?
  7. Christian Vazquez was probably a little worse player and he got 3 years for 30 million. But I honestly don't really care what Jansen costs because someone will pay him starter money and that's too much for me. He's not good enough to DH and I want him nowhere near that role and he's also a lesser player than the Catcher we already have. Yeah a stud backup would be nice because Kirk is fat so if this were a complete team looking to throw a cherry on top of the sundae I'd be for it. But this is a team who has almost zero reliable relievers heading into next year. I'd rather take the money and use it to sign a reliever rather than a good backup player.
  8. Despite his poor season, he's starting caliber quality and will get paid accordingly. There is no way in hell we bring in someone even better, and more expensive, than Jansen to form a catching tandem with Kirk. It'd be the dumbest waste of money.
  9. I'm sure most people wanting to bring him back realize this, they just like him as fans (I do too) and are being positive about the idea. Didn't mean to sound like a crank.
  10. Jansen gets a hard pass from me. Kirk is miles better and an expensive backup C is a luxury this team cannot afford when we have so many holes to fill this offseason.
  11. Bregman would be good but I worry about the price tag after the Chapman extension.
  12. One of Yariel or Francis could be the long reliever if we sign a SP.
  13. Cabrera and Swanson are contenders for the pen next year too. Not sure I'd tender them but it will be considered. Cabrera's ERA and xERA are good, his FIP and xFIP suck. Swanson can't hit the broad side of a barn but was damn good prior.
  14. We picked up some late blooming minor leaguer from the Marlins today. Made Fangraphs Marlins Top 40 list this year. Emanuel Rodriguez or Gonzalez or something like that is his name.
  15. Prospect defense is so hard to gauge. I can stat scout the bats but for defense you have to rely heavily on the little tidbits and grades that prospect sites give you. And of course, the prospects body types change as they age which can also affect their tools/defense. I remember reading about Barger sticking on the left side of the infield and possibly even SS. There ain't a chance in hell he could play SS.
  16. Definitely worth monitoring his SS defense. On the various prospect sites he was always listed around 5'10'' 160. He's now listed at 215 pounds. Hopefully that doesn't affect his defense but he's definitely built more like a 2B than a SS now. And if that's the case his shot at being a full-time starter drops dramatically. He's probably a bench player.
  17. He got 19.9M this past year. Would his arb rate really double? Seems like he'd come in closer to 30, right? Here are the largest ever arbitration salaries: Juan Soto, 2024 Yankees: $31.5 million. Shohei Ohtani, 2023 Angels: $30 million. Mookie Betts, 2020 Dodgers: $27 million.
  18. He is DEALING since joining them. He must be close to a lock to resigning there. They obviously love him given the package they gave up.
  19. Yeah and on top of it he doesn't count as a pitcher for roster purposes, so the Dodgers are the only team in the league that can carry 14 pitchers.
  20. If it's 240 mil we will have close to 60 mil to spend.
  21. If we sweep these *******s we have a puncher's chance at the WC, but we have to sweep
  22. This is a completely cherry picked stat and it is a SSS. But it does highlight the point that he hasn't just had a good streak, he has been COMPLETELY dominant. If he was putting up a run of decent quality starts or I would be hesitant to say he can be anything better than a #4. But this is another level. So a #4 is probably the best bet, there is potential he could be far better. And just think, we got this guy for Rowdy Tellez!
  23. If we sweep the Twins we will be 4.5 games back of the WC with 23 games left. Do you believe in miracles?
  24. Dammit Laika I've actually been having fun this month watching baseball
