  1. Yep. That scumbag should be extradited to Canada and jailed for his actions during the Ohtani saga.
  2. So free agency starts the day after the World Series ends, but there is a 5 day waiting period on signing with new teams. I hope Ross has his $600 million dollar Soto offer ready. You want to get it to him as soon as possible while he's got that sour taste in his mouth over the fans trying to tar and feather Judge over a few bad games in the playoffs.
  3. Playoffs couldn't have gone any better -D-Bags and Rangers miss out -Orioles and Braves fail to win a playoff game -Royals out -Yankees getting completely de-pantsed
  4. I hope Varsho gets stiffed in GG voting It'll lower his arb cost, thus allowing Big Ross another mil or two to use on 35 year old reliever who will give us a very mediocre 60 innings of ball
  5. Good questions but I'm not sure. IMO it's hard to measure all this stuff and I'm extremely skeptical that fans can adequately judge assistant coaching performance. Assistant coaches get far too much credit or blame for things IMO. You kind of have to weigh the results with what coaches are saying in interviews (which are often ******** coach speak and soundbites) and make up your mind from there.
  6. If you look at the Giants roster they do seem to produce a decent amount of homegrown pitching. I'm sure some of that perception is aided by the ballpark but the big league rotation and bullpen as well as the upper minors have a bunch of interesting young names. Hard to say for sure but I am liking the moves being made so far. If only they had been made last year.
  7. That 107 win season was nuts. Giants got so many big years out of old vets and other marginal talent. Looked like Zaidi might be the best GM in baseball. But like Atkins, he can't draft and develop. To steal from MikeM, it's a very 2010-style of running a baseball team.
  8. No idea if he is any good or not but his contract wasn't renewed by the Twins after this season's collapse.
  9. Yeah Love is really fun to watch in a similar way to Favre.
  10. Would love a Boone meltdown in Game 4 as the Yankees get swept tbh
  11. Does it really matter if some A-Ball team plays at a certain field? If it comes down to it, the Tampa Tampons can go play on a high school field and they'll renovate the stadium for the Rays.
  12. Probably. I wonder if some fans who were boycotting Fisher might actually start turning up to support a different owner though.
  13. Rebuilds aren't guaranteed to succeed. I'm still butthurt over the Halladay trade nearly 20 years later. It might not be the prudent choice but I don't really have a problem with them trying to win in 2025. With a high payroll and the new playoff format they should be able to compete for a WC spot most years. It's not like trading 1 year of control of Bo and Vlad or an old Gausman is going to fix this franchise anyway. But in their attempt to compete I hope they stick to 1-4 year deals in FA. If they sign Vlad to a 12 year extension and then Adames or Bregman to 7 or 8 year deals then we are starting to tread in some dangerous waters. But a 3 or 4 year deal blowing up in the final year or two isn't really that harmful.
  14. All the changes they are making this year should have been done last year. Maybe those changes work and that changes our long term outlook. But even if they work, implementing them a year sooner would have helped. But beyond that, the team is in dangerous territory because it will need to spend big to keep competing. The team has done a good job to avoid albatross contracts so far but if we sign Vlad to 300+ mil and a number of pricey FAs, which is what it will take to compete, then we are going to hit some landmines. And that's when things will get REALLY dire. No farm system and garbage contracts eating up payroll = a long full-scale rebuild.
  15. Everyone is getting way too hung up on 2024, prospect lists and who the current front office is. There are built-in advantages to the different teams that should probably weigh pretty heavy. You could just use this list as your starting point: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Forbes_list_of_the_most_valuable_MLB_clubs And then massage the rankings from there, starting with ownership (doesn't change very often) and then front offices (changes quite often) and then whatever other criteria you want. For example, Angels (#7) and Rockies (#20) getting moved to the bottom because of ownership. And then the Rays #(26) getting moved up because of the front office.
  16. Yeah exactly. The difference between the Mariners/Nats and Orioles/Padres could flip over the course of a season or two. I suppose there's a little more nuance to it than that. The Orioles, for example, should be good for the next few years because of a young core. But they can and probably will end up toward the bottom of the list again. Just a question of whether it's in 3 years or 6 or 7. Not exactly where you want to be even if you're a top franchise right now.
  17. I don't necessarily hate the rankings but there is barely any difference between 19 and 5 on this list. The Padres went on a spending spree and have had one contract already blow up in their faces. If one or two more happens, and it will, they will be in the hurtbox. I also can't really say that I'd definitively switch circumstances with any of the small market teams ahead of us. The Brewers, Twins, Rays, etc. Hell, even the Orioles. Those teams are fine now but are a bad GM hire away from supplanting everyone but the Rockies for worst franchise. On the other hand, we are a good GM away from being a Top 5 franchise.
  18. Calling the Astros and Cardinals bottom tier franchises is certainly a take.
  19. Yeah those are definitely the needs. Agree that it will be difficult to fill all of them via FA. But in order to be wild card contenders I don't think we would have to. Fill most of them in a decent way and that should be good enough. In order to be division contenders we'd have to fill them all though.
  20. Yeah I got ya but a bottom five franchise is even less accurate.
  21. We'll see how the offseason shakes out. I think the Fangraphs playoff odds will give them something close to 50% playoff odds. Nothing to brag about at all but not as dire as a bottom 5 team in MLB. I don't know when I've ever been crapping on the Jays every chance I get or what you mean when you say I'm the strongest supporter. I want Ross to be fired after all and am ambivalent on Shapiro. That said, a franchise's health isn't tied directly to the GM. He can be replaced (and probably will be if he doesn't have a good year) and other things also matter greatly. The Jays have pretty strong marks when it comes to ownership, market size, the fanbase, etc. that prevent it from being a bottom five franchise.
  22. Ok let's not get too carried away here. It ain't bottom 5 bad lol. After we dump 50M into the team we will probably have a wild card contender. But that's not great considering: (1) the payroll involved to get there (but the fact we can spend that much to begin with is a plus) (2) the fact that it's just a wild card contender and not a division contender, and (3) the state of the farm system (which matters but is incredibly overrated by this board). But we aren't even close to a bottom feeder franchise. Things are just very mid right now.
  23. Lol no way I'm reading all that pal Bottom line is the playoffs are a crapshoot and it doesn't take a book's worth of text to try and explain how certain s***** wild card teams can make the World Series and why others can't
  24. Cheering for a Mets-Guardians WS which will tank the ratings for a couple of reasons 1. So I can keep dunking on the haters and losers, of which there are many, who tried telling me that the D-Bags and Rangers were legit and worthy WS teams last year instead of admitting that the playoffs are a crapshoot 2. So MLB will fix the playoff format
