  1. Stats don't lead to runs, rbis lead to runs. It is impossible to get an rbi without producing a run. Literally. If the score is 0-0 nobody has an rbi,. Take last nights game. Reyes tripled leading off thus padding his OPS but no runs were scored. Lind is even worse because for him the triple would be a double.
  2. I agree. Take Joe Carter. He didn't give a f*** about OPS just about getting the job done. Get the f***ing job done. I don't care if the OPS is .700 or .900. And if it's .700 it's a more efficient way of doing the same job. Lind probably is playing for himself figuring he can get a shiny new contract from a sabr-gm.
  3. Have at er Smedley. I'm just here in the office fixing the computer up after taking my golf clubs to it last night. Got 3 new GTX 770 GPUs (turned out I could only save 1/4). Will still take a few hours of mucking around with drivers to get things back in order. Got some coffee, got some cigs. Jays are crashing, but I got to fix my sweet computer. God damn Reyes.
  4. Maybe think about Reyes throwing it into the dirt and ending the season??
  5. I remember these conversations back in the 90s when that bitch Alanis made that ironic song. Everybody argued about what irony was. It's like the f***ing opposite or something. "posters raging and venting at other posters for raging and venting in the raging and venting thread" -- possibly not ironic it is the raging and venting thread after all. "posters raging and venting at other posters for raging and venting in the calm thread" -It's very subtle. In the calm thread you expect everyone to be calm so all the raging and venting would be ironic. In the rage thread everybody is supposed to be raging, so posters raging and venting for any reason, including raging and venting at other posters for raging and venting... well that is as it should be and is expected to be... the opposite of irony. Speaking of Alanis, f*** you Reyes, you deserve the Alanis bitch rage song... Well, I'm here to remind you Of the mess you left when you threw the ball away It's not fair to deny us the 10th straight win we deserved to see You, you, you oughta know
  6. If you are an 83 win team trying to somehow eak out 88 wins and a playoff spot then you need to have one of those years when everything goes right. When things go wrong it hurts more. Every team experiences these kind of losses. Most teams aren't an 80 something win team in win now mode build around 30+ year olds. So for a normal team it is no big deal... go get 'em tomorrow, or next year when the young players are a bit better. There is no next year for this team.. I don't think. Bautista, Buerhle, Dickey, EE, Reyes better next year?? Probably not as you have pointed out.
  7. There's a calm thread. Bring that s*** there. This is the rage thread.
  8. The last two real high pionts 27-13 in 2009, and after the 11 game win streak last year the Jays completely imploded in the span of 10 days. People are just afraid that will happen again. June 10th we'll be tied with the sox 2 behind the Yankees with the Rays somehow back in it... July 10th we'll be talking about selling Bautista, Buehrle, and EE. It sucks. But it happens. One moment on top of the world, the next selling Halladay. People are insecure about this team. As always I hope it turns out good.
  9. If the team was really a 95 true talent team I'd agree with you. I think most of us see it as a 80-85 win team. With good fundamentals and luck they could squeak into the playoffs in a weak division. So when fundamentals and luck both disapear at the same time it's a downer. A loss like this is nothing for a 95 win team. For an 82 win team that needs everything to go right?? Losses like this suck more. Also it brings us back to reality. The 2014 Jays are probably just going to drift about .500... at times just by random chance it will look like we are headed to the playoffs... at times just by random chance it will look like we are headed for a top 5 draft pick. Most likely outcome is we pick 16 next year. Sucks to have to come back to reality.
  10. Sorry. I've switched to the other thread. Rage/Vent thread. Farrell is coming for us, the end is here, life sucks.
  11. SMASHED MY f***ING COMPUTER!!!!! Salvaged 2/4 GPUs, but will cost 10 grand to replace the other 2 + CPU. f***ERS. Farrell is coming for you f***ers. Beeston is a **********. If we don't win this year, which we won't, Beeston will say we'll win next year, which we won't, and we won't win the year after that either. Toronto Blue Jays 2014 season turning point -- May 29th, Reyes throws it in the dirt. The downfall begins. Season realistically over - May 29th -- it will take a few weeks for people to realize this. But it's done. See you next year, or the year after that.
  12. Loyd Moseby off the wall Friday night late September '89 to clinch a division tie (they won the next day). Fergie Oliver was not calm.
  13. Still no sign of JSFIP. Time for a serious search I think. Wish me luck. I'm going to have to look in some pretty strange and disturbing places, like the old board at bluejays.com, the Mike Wilner chat, maybe even DJF.... In the mean time another gem from JSFIP "Currently Emilio Bonifacio is in first in the entire league in WAR. We used to have him. Ahead of Mike Trout. Why did we let this guy go?"
  14. Is that Dickey?? Or is that Buerhle?? I can't tell the difference. Bet that guy can pitch to he's 45 going 12-10 4.15 or so
  15. Silly article. Here is the deal. If healthy it's a 200+ homer, 800 run offense led by 500 innings from the shitballers. The entire thing depends on health and the shitballer convergence point. There is no question in my mind that the shitballers will converge to the point where you can't tell the difference between them. If the convergence point is 17-9 3.30 or something like that... then you gotta like our chances. If the convergence point is 13-11 4.20.. then no. That's an 8 win difference. Difference between 84-78 and 92-70. Shitballer convergence point. They are slowly converging. At one point I think Buerhle's era was 0.5 and Dickey's 6.00. And now it is 2.30 and 3.90 or something. Right now we don't know the exact final convergence point yet.
  16. Holy s***. Last we all hated each other. At least you all hated me (justifiably so). May 29th 2014 Jays - 32-22 .333 on base percentage 1st in American League in on base, 1st in AL east .... Farrell - 23-29 .327 on base percentage (5th in on base). Still have to fear and respect the crafty bastard. Gotta keep ahead in the on base race. If the Jays keep leading the league in on base things will turn out fine. As my friend JSFIP said walks are overrated... true indeed. But on base percentage isn't. If a team hits .240 they gotta take some walks. If they hit .300 they don't .
  17. Not sure where JSFIP is these days. Here is some classic JSFIP to tide you over until he is back. From thread "Walks are overrated" "Go ahead, disagree with me. I'm sure all of you sabermetrics idiots will instantly. It's the truth, that's all. SOOOOOOOO overrated by everyone on this board."
  18. 85?? In 85 Mattingly tried to stop us and couldn't. Then George Brett tried -- that f***er stopped us. In 2014 nobody will stop us!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We win f***ers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sorry, lost the calmness for a second there. What I meant to say was enjoy it in a calm and responsible fashion. Somebody or something could stop us at any moment. The Jays could stop themselves. Or maybe it will go on like this for another 100 games and we will win 110. Or maybe we won't. Who knows. Keep calm.
  19. I agree with the all of the above except making me High Priest. I am just a bipolar guy with a really pimped up computer. I post stupid s*** and crave attention. JSFIP started this thread. He is the one who told everyone to calm down. JSFIP deserves to be a cult figure. Where is he anyway?? He came, he had his say, and apparently he left. Maybe he went out with Smedley one night and never came home. Maybe he is in a third world country helping out. Maybe he was just an ordinary guy living an ordinary life and just wanted to make one point and leave it at that.
  20. by the way that's not a dot matrix printer. It's a customized 3d printer I built from spare parts. I'm working on a way to print ligaments for TJ replacement. No idea if it will work or not. I'm not a f***in doctor. And no, it ain't going to help Jose Fernandez anytime soon. With this kindof s*** you have to experiment on mice and stuff first. I don't know the experimental process exactly. Just know it takes years. I'm just the computer guy and I hand off the printed out ligaments and s*** to the Doctors. They deal with the other part.
  21. That's John Olerud. Calm guy. Good hitter. Occasionally great. Was Ted Williams for the first 4 months of 93. This is me. Chilling out. Keeping calm. Smokin some cigs. Nothing stronger, thanks. But to each their own. Whatever calms you down. That is my sweet machine. Chasis is old. But don't let that fool you. The old frames are the only ones that can fit the cooling system I invented. That thing is totally pimped. 4 GTX 780s. Intel Phi 60 core co-processor. All over-clocked.
  22. I am still completely calm. I'm just pondering some hypotheticals. At what point do we start to focus on individual goals instead of the pennant race?? The pennant race is the most important thing. It is a team game and there is no "I" in team. That being said we don't want to end up winning the pennant by 25 games then looking back at missed opportunities for some cool individual goals. So at what point do we... 1. Start giving Buerhle extra starts so he can win 30?? 2. Keep Jansen out of some save situations to protect his 0.00 era?? 3. Hit EE leadoff to give him extra at bats so he can challenge Maris (and maybe Bonds!!) ?? Think team. Stay calm. Don't get ahead of ourselves. However if the boys totally blow open the pennant race and make it a joke, it would be smart for Rogers to start focusing on these individual goals to keep interest and T.V. ratings high.
  23. (running out of material... this ones a rerun from some other thread) Beeston calls Gibby into the office to talk about the Lawrie/Francisco/Tolleson thing... Beeston - "I don't understand it, and I don't like it. Who's on third?? Who's on second?? It's like that skit. It's just like that silly skit and that's not the Blue Jay way." silence -- long pause Beeston - "Cito what do you think?" Cito - "Do they pull the ball??" Gibby - "Right down the line. Sometimes right into the dug out. Keeps us awake in there." Cito - "If they pull the ball it's OK with me." Beeston - "If it's OK with Cito, it's OK with me. Have at'er."
  24. Gibby walks into Beeston's office - Nov 2013 - Beeston - "It was a tough year. Heads might have to roll. Roger's coorporate policy is that everybody gets 25 seconds to defend themselves. Speak." Gibby - thinking... pausing... thinking... 10 seconds left... "If we don't win this year we'll win next year, and if we don't win next year we'll win the year after that." Beeston - "I like this guy. Next."
  25. Gibby is a genius at managing Beeston. Gibby knows the Oakland A's have 5 computer whiz's. Gibby thinks Jays should get some computer whiz's but knows Beeston won't like it. Gibby (unplugs his lap top and lets the battery run out) - Shucks my computer doesn't work. Beeston - Wow. It won't even turn on?? Listen up people, we need to hire Gibby a computer guy to help him with this.
