  1. There is something innate to injuries. Maybe with Lawrie it's a bit to much fearlessness. He'll dive into the dugout, he'll crowd the plate, he won't flinch when a fastball is riding in.
  2. s***. I WAS RIGHT. THEY WERE JUST f***ING TOYING WITH US. GODAMNIT!!! I don't know what to say. Bautista and Lawrie injured?? I'm not sure how long they will be out for but godamnit this is what happens when you build a team around injury prone guys. Bautista, Colby, Rasmus, Lawrie Reyes. They average 100 games. They will probably average 100 games this year. I f***ing hate AA and Beeston so much. Beeston more. These guys just don't know how to think. They are everything that is wrong with our society. Reyes - awkward slide dislocated ankle - Beeston/AA" That won't happen again" Lawrie - dives into dugout - Beeston/AA "That won't happen again" Drabek - Tommy John - Beeston/AA "That won't happen again' (actually it did). Bautista busts wrist - Beeston/AA That won't happen again' Bautista hurts hip - Beeston/AA That won't happen again Melky tumour - Beeston/.AA That won't happen again And you know what other then Drabek getting another Tommy John, they are right. None of it happened again. BUT SOMETHING ELSE DID!!!!! In the world of suits and haircuts and handshakes Beeston and AA are "right" in a weird way. But in the real world they are wrong. Anyway I'm ranting, but I'm keeping it in the rage thread. And why rant when in first?? Uhhh... losing a 5.5 game lead and key players injured. It's an old, flawed team made by stupid, stupid men. p.s. I still hope they ride it out, get lucky and win. I never root against the team.
  3. As was Jesse Chavez at one point. And Scott Kazmir went Romero and came back. People want certainty. If you say "lets sift through the s*** looking through for a diamond" they don't really know what the f*** you are talking about. They yell at you and laugh at you and say "good luck, your just going to get s*** all over the place and make a huge mess of everything." And they are right. You have to be careful when looking through s***. But if you do it carefully and have some luck it can work. Not saying it is easy. I am sure I'd make a mess if I tried. But you get the best superscouts money can buy, and some analytical guys, and together they can sort through the s***.... maybe...
  4. He was really bad in 2011... bad in 2012. 4.67 47-47 k-bb. I guess the hope would be that he improves a bit on 2012. If the stuff is there, there is no reason not to give him a shot. Pitchers are funny he might surprise us. I haven't heard a scouting report. If he's throwing 85 or something then he will get killed here.
  5. Not sure why the peanut Gallery is giving you a hard time. Give him a shot for a few weeks if there is an injury or someone really implodes. The peanut gallery must be on auto-pilot this morning. "Drabek you are our only hope. Pitch like your Dad did in the early 90s and lead us to the pennant." unreasonable. peanut gallery should go to your house and shame you. "Drabek. We have no fifth starter. Please come to Toronto and pitch just a little better then you did 2 years ago. You might actually help us" reasonable. peanut gallery should say "doubt he'll help but why not if nothing better is on the radar."
  6. I didn't see any other threads about anger?? But maybe it is gone allready. Why be angry?? Greatest comeback in living memory*. All is well. I love you guys.... OK enough Hippy Crap this is the rage thread. f***. THEY ARE JUST TOYING WITH US. YANKEES WALKED OFF ANYWAY SO WE DIDN'T EVEN GAIN A GAME. AND I f***ING WENT TO BED SO I MISSED THE ONLY BRIGHT MOMENT IN THIS DISMALL f***ING WASTED SEASON. f*** ALL OF YOU HAPPY *******S! OK. That's better. * the old road apples will tell you the greatest comeback was the Whitt Grand Slam in Fenway in 89. Who the hell is old enough to remember that s***?
  7. I never left. I believed the whole time. I never lose faith. Not even once. The negativity is just a psychological reflex to avoid dissapointment. That was explained to me by someone on another thread.
  8. I went to bed and calmly found out about this in the morning. All hail JSFIP! All hail CPH!
  9. Stroman and Hutch are young and might be good. Lawrie could have a good second half. So could Rasmus....
  10. Counterpoint: Hutch and Stroman are young. Lawrie is young and could have a huge second half if healthy. EE, Bautista and even Francisco will start hitting bombs again. Rasmus if relatively young and playing for a contract. Melky is playing well and looks healthy. Reyes hasn't really been Reyes yet. Dickey might still go on a roll. For gods sake Happ might be better then we think. Maybe Gibby is savy enough to play the fat catcher less and between the "pitch framing guy" and the "knuckle catcher guy who doesn't strikeout" and the fat guy the catching position is better in the second half. You could be right in the end.
  11. CPH 1. We have no ace. 2. We have no depth. 3. The team is old. 4. The team might be at it's payroll limit so hard to make deadline trades. 5. The farm sucks in terms of young position players (no Puig or even Boegarts to help with playoff push). 6. The farm sucks so hard to make deadline trades. Most people see the Jays as unable to overcome these factors. Thus they will end up winning low to mid 80s and be passed by teams that have better young players or more resources to add deadline pieces.
  12. This is the rage thread. Please bring that hippy crap to the calm thread. Thanks. f*** YOU HIPPY!
  13. If the Jays make the playoffs I'll remember you stuck by them. You have my word on that. We'll make a list of who is right and wrong. If the Jays make the playoffs you will get your due as one who stood by them in tough times.
  14. Oakland really impresses me. They collect a tonne of underrated players and lose on some, win on some, but looks like they have a nice critical mass right now. I like Boston still. I think they have almost as good a chance as the Jays at the playoffs. No guarantees for anyone.
  15. ???????????? CPH. First off... what the heck?? Don't leave. I don't think I've ever insulted you (OK, maybe I have, but I don't try to keep grudges for long) or argued to much with you. Not sure why you are in a huff. And I've never, ever said I want the Jays to fail. My prediction is that it is a .500 team. 82 wins or so. It could be 85. Could be 79. I don't know for sure. What I want is atleast 95. Hell 105. Nothing would make me happier.
  16. RAGE!!! JUST A LITTLE f***ING ALL-CAPS RAGE TO THE GODDMAN BASTARD f***ERS WILNER AND STOETEN THEY ARE BOTH SMUG AND SARCASTIC RIGHT NOW. f*** YOU *******S YOU DON'T f***ING GET IT. Hypothetical - Jays have exact same record but have a Puig or a few solid minor leaguers ready to fill in for banged up 30somethings Us - "We will be reasonable just like Stoeten and Wilner because it is year 5 and the hot prospects that AA and the superscouts have collected are ready to fill in for the injured and help us to the pennant!!!!!!" Reality - Jays are relying on Francisco and Tolleson. Us - "This isn't good!" f*** YOU STOETEN. f*** YOU WILNER. YOU LET US DOWN YOU BASTARDS! RAAAAGEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  17. I hate being a downer... But there are so many problems that were hidden by the win streak. I'm not some crazy who believes that every little losing streak means the end. I think this is a mediocre team and it just becomes obvious during a streak like this. Take the fact that we are banged up. This is year 5 of the AA era. In year 4/5 of the Ricciardi era Hill and young Lind were essentially ready when needed. Wow. we could really use those types of minor league players to fill in for a banged up Lawrie and old Lind. We have nothing in the minors in terms of position players and are relying on the Franciscos and Tollesons of the world instead of young players. AA should of produced a position player by now. You look at that lineup... a couple little slumps and dings and it's a bunch of 30 somethings with nothing coming up behind them. Depressing.
  18. On the way to 82 wins there was going to be ups and downs... times when it looked like 95 wins were a real possibility... times when it looked like a top 5 pick was a possibility. I guess that is what is so dissapointing about this little collapse. It's like we were all waiting for a quick descent into reality... we knew it was coming... all I wanted was to believe I was wrong for another few weeks... but why did it have to come so fast and so sudden?? I guess because it always does. This franchise crushes you fast. It's the blue jays way. I honestly believe it ended when Reyes threw the ball away. The world is much more non-linear then we believe wtih fat tails and weird psychological effects. The stock market goes up and up sometimes just because people believe. When Reyes threw the ball away it reminded the Jays who they were, who we are. The Yankeees Win!!!! The YYAAAAANKEEES WIN! The world is as it should be. Keep calm.
  19. I'm actually quite calm as well, strangely enough. Is it Happ tonight?? Go Happ save the franchise!
  20. ? They might suck. They might lose. But I am sure they are trying their hardest. Bautista - "aahhh f*** it. maybe we'll do better in Cinci..." can't see him saying that If anything they are aware of the pressure and are trying to hard.
  21. The sad thing is if we signed Tanaka instead of the yanks it would of been a 10 game swing. If we signed Darvish instead of the Rangers it would of been a 10 game swing over the Rangers. Instead we got JJ and the shitballers. JJ is nothing. Shitballers will each be 14-12 3.7 or something by the end. All on the way to low 80s win totals.
  22. In 2009 Halladay couldn't stop the 9 game losing streak.... not that he didn't try. These two games changed the course of the franchise... probably (in part) led to "mutiny" and Halladay's departure. I remember Halladay being upset that he was pulled after 7 for each of these.... once for a pinch hitter, once because the bullpen couldn't possibly blow a 5 run lead... but they did. http://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/ATL/ATL200905220.shtml http://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/BAL/BAL200905270.shtml
  23. Now this is more the spirit of the thread. This is like super-all caps. I like it.
  24. I am not sure why he went to the trouble of cherry picking the starting points. He could of just used June 7th as the starting point. That's when the bad stretch began. Or just June 1st. "Blue Jays hitters slump in June." Just some Keep it Simple Stupid starting point.
  25. And it is the Rage thread. I was driving on I-87 last night. Had the pleasure of hearing John Sterling. Yankees win! Theeeeeee Yankees win!" I can sense they think the Blue Jays are finished and the Yankees will have a 7 game lead by the all star break. It's over folks. It was over when Reyes through that ball in the dirt. Hard to rage, had my rage that night. It's a world of non-linearities, butterfly effects, and weird psychic effects that we barely understand. One event can change the world and send it on a completely different course. The Reyes throw in the dirt was the 2014 blue jays Sept 11 2001. We would of won otherwise but Reyes ended it.
