  1. Saw Eddie today at the complex. What was more interesting, however, was Sanchez pitching to some Yankee scrubs on another diamond. His line for today...6 innings, 2 hits, 0 runs, 0 BB and 6 K's. Hope to see him next Tuesday against the Rays.
  2. Thank you and you're right..hope it's just baby fat...on him that is.
  3. Met Vlady Jr today at the Mattick Complex...what a nice kid.
  4. Was at the game today, unfortunately left after the 7th and missed the home run but I was particularly impressed by Chavez. He threw 2 perfect innings with 3 k's and his fastball was sitting around 94. Umpiring was pretty bad today...lot of chirping from the bench which you rarely see in Spring Training. Choate had Ruf out on strikes before he hit the home run.
  5. There are always scalpers, errr, ticket brokers outside the stadium. You should be able to score some tickets easily but it will cost you.
  6. That was 3 years ago and at the time it cost $1200 for a single..much cheaper if you share a room. It was really well organized. Pretty much stuck on schedule the whole time. I would highly recommend Buckley's...they even made it fun on the bus with a number of trivia games and some give aways.
  7. I did one with Buckley's baseball tours a few years ago...best trip ever. Started in New York vs Jays, then on to Fenway, back to New York for a Mets game at Citi Field. From there, we went to the Hall of Fame induction, followed by a game in Philly, then back to NYC. Great seats at all the games, plus tours of Yankee Stadium and Fenway. It also included city tours in Manhattan, Boston and Philly.
  8. Is that part of an organized bus trip? If so, any info on it would be appreciated.
  9. High A ball..In the same league as the Dunedin Blue Jays ( Anthony Alford, Richard Urena, Mitch Nay there last year). Another beautiful park to visit is Brighthouse Field in Clearwater (Phillies).
  10. I have been going down to Spring Training for years and usually stay right in Dunedin. If you are going for only a few days, there are a number of efficiency motels on alt 19 just outside of town. For longer periods, I would recommend checking out VRBO or airbnb for accomodations. I would also highly recommend heading over to the Bobby Mattick Complex where the Jays farmhands train. There are always a number of roster players there and it is very informal, plus there is no charge. There are always a couple of games going on....usually starts at 11. Definitely try to get to a game in Clearwater.... Brighthouse Stadium is beautiful and only a 10 min drive from Dunedin. Also check out The Covered Bridge on Alt 19 for breakfast. Spring training is a great experience for any baseball fan..
  11. Did anyone go to the Bisons luncheon on Wednesday and if so, did Sanchez look any different to you?
  12. I agree. What made Revere such a irreplaceable lead off guy? He has a career OBP of .328 and hardly stole a base or drew a walk with the Jays. Plus he's an average defender with a noodle arm. Pompey could fill that role until Travis is back. Great trade, allowing Sanchez to start. The guys on MLB radio were saying that it was a waste of a great arm with Sanchez to have him as a 6th or 7th inning set-up man.
  13. Do you think Cubs fans are calling for Joe Maddon's firing after getting swept? Imagine if the Jays had done that.
  14. Well said. I have met Daniel in spring training and he was the most polite, unassuming, approachable player in the system. My prayers are with you Daniel.
  15. Boy it's hard to watch Thor and D'Arnaud without thinking what might have been.
  16. Keep them coming...didn't feel like driving to Peoria from Scottsdale to see the game but will catch them at Salt River tomorrow for a few innings. Will have to leave early to catch the Jays game.
  17. I was at the game tonight to watch the Salt River Rafters. The Jays did not send many top prospects here this year (they don't have many left) but it was a good opening night for Rowdy Tellez...he went 2 for 3 with a double and single while driving in 4. The most impressive part of this is that the 2 hits came against a lefty.
  18. AA deserves executive of the year for the Donaldson trade alone.
  19. At the time, what were the other options in left field besides that s***** outfielder who probably won more games for them than he lost. Also, that back up catcher has to play some games and did help with the bat. EE at first is not a disaster. The bullpen at the time was a disaster. You don't see many one run losses lately, in fact, you don't see many losses. Give the guy some credit.
  20. Another win for Gibby- Manager of the year.
  21. Funny that every time they lose, which isn't very often, it's always Gibby's fault. When they win, it's all about the players.
  22. Interesting stat....Jays leading Yanks in run differential 173-50. You would think they would have more than a 2 game lead...I guess it was all those 1 run losses.
  23. Check out the Reyes story on CBS Sports. Doesn't want to play on a losing team..I'm sure that will endear him to management and teammates. So glad we got rid of that guy.
