  1. Yeah I really don't understand the desire to go out of the way to fit Martin's bat in the lineup. Unless the bench is so piss poor that he's actually the best option. And if that's the case the FO did not do its job during the offseason. If Martin needs a day off from catching, just give him the day off. Also I don't get the argument "no competent backup will come here cuz Martin will take up all the time"...have you guys reviewed his age or the amount of games he played in 2017? Martin seems like a great candidate to gift a worthy backup 60 games in 2018.
  2. Umm, is this even a debate? Reyes got an expensive DFA for domestic abuse rumours. Chapman got lambasted for throwing a temper tantrum, albeit a stupid and dangerous one, in his garage. This is next level s*** on a much more marginal talent, assuming the allegations are true.
  3. I like how you're sad IRL that your favourite message board of your favourite sports team is dying a slow death.
  4. That's alright, I'll take the heat. This entire board has gone up against some dude who thinks he can outrun Bautista about Goins, and has been losing for four years, and refuses to admit defeat. None of you have demonstrated much of an ability to evaluate Ryan Goins' path in the MLB, I don't expect you guys to magically change now.
  5. f*** all you Goins haters. The guy got 60+ RBI in 400-something plate appearances hitting in the bottom of a line-up of a s***** hitting team. No matter what you think of RBI or small sample sizes that's enough of an unusual accomplishment to warrant looking deeper to see if something is there. And with this FO I expect them to exhaust that before giving up on him completely. Send him to a head doctor and see if his "mental approach" to hitting with RISP situations can be expanded to all situations. Or if it really was just a fluke and then you can cut him with no regrets. I don't mind the idea of going after Profar as a depth move...but as someone meant explicitly to replace Goins? They both have the same s***** resume. Either aim higher or stick with the guy you got.
  6. Last year's draft pick is looking pretty damn good.
  7. I think Dickey stays in the NL, assuming he gets multiple offers and he gets to choose. Or that's where he should stay if he is smart and wants to extend his career. I think people suggesting he comes back are forgetting how bad he was in 2016. Biagini's numbers in 2017 are better than Dickey's numbers in 2016 across the board except ERA. I'd honestly rather give a shot to Biagini again, or Borucki. Rather than waste $8M on dead weight. Playing in Toronto and Texas hasn't helped him much, but his whole career's AL/NL split has been heavily favoured towards the NL.
  8. Somewhere out there, there is a Jimcanuck Nationals fan hoping and praying for a 10-30 start next year so they trade Harper and have a better shot at being good in 2022.
  9. Nope! Note one game before 8pm I did cave in the end and put $50 on the Pats tonight though. -3 at home against a team that blew a 17-0 lead against Miami, come on. Now watch what happens in the last few minutes of this game....

Hurray for an 8 goal game One time the entire year a Leafs game hit the under. Eventually these bookies are going to smarten up, but for now ride the overs. NHL-wide and especially Leafs games. Penalties per game are starting to trend down (from 4.1 to 3.95 per team) but that's been offset buy a spike in PP% (17.5% to 19.3%). I don't think that's sustainable so goals per game might be topping out. For now it has stayed steady at around 6.2 per game and Vegas lines are still averaging under 6. https://www.hockey-reference.com/leagues/stats.html
  11. Maybe he was TOO good at his job. New guy: "Chris Sale has a peanut allergy? s***, sorry I didn't know that. I guess he misses his start today" Jays will be 60 games at home next year. Finally this team smartened up and hired a Jew to run it.
  12. That game made up for the screw job I got betting against KC -7 and under 49 a couple weeks ago against Washington. And the hurting I took last week. Made a nice chunk of change betting on Oakland to win the game in the most heart-wrenching way possible. I'm done with the NFL this season, ending on a high note. It's been a brutal roller coaster this year. If I can make it through this Sunday without one bet I'll know I have kicked the habit. CFB on the other hand I've been filling up my bankroll on Saturdays and emptying it out on Sundays lol
  13. I was saddened by the Raptors solid performance last night. I had them dead set on coasting/underperforming the whole game like they usually do in these situations. They were allowed to win, just not by more than 13 points
  14. It's certainly not going to happen in one year, where the company has to report its numbers to the investing public. I can see a steady rise each year, assuming team revenues continue upwards and Rogers can justify the increased expense.
  15. With that expansion talk I can imagine the Washington ownership would send that team back to Montreal and take the new franchise in two years, lol. "Alright we got the good years out of the turnip franchise and left it as a dumpster fire, time to start fresh!"
  16. Don't insult dipshit dinosaurs like that, by lumping them in with this guy. Ok there might be some old guys out there who have some backwards beliefs about baseball and stubbornly cling to them, but at least they have some general knowledge of the game that was relevant at some point or another. This moron has the baseball IQ of the compliant wife/gf who comes along to the game just for the spectacle. What dinosaur ever would have said Ash was a good GM? Simmons is a chump but this article is on a whole new level. This somehow needs to go viral so many more people can mock his stupidity and he can witness it and scowl. Isn't there some way to get someone to write about it on Fangraphs or set up a Twitter hashtag mocking it?
  17. "The Jays say they want to focus on increasing the fan experience. If you want to do that I suggest the following: 1. Build a new stadium; 2. Don’t finish last in the American League in offence; 3. Try winning" That was my favourite part of the article.
  18. LOL Simmons obviously wrote that because one or more of his buddies got canned, I'm guessing Mal Romanin being one of them. So much snark. How is this remotely professional or get by the Sun editors? Simmons: "The Jays fired one of my personal friends. So I'm going to write a baseless, fact-less, snarky article trashing the Jays' FO" Sun Editors: "Sounds good to us!"
  19. Ha! Bell is totally owning that. Also Rogers can eat an unlimited bag of dicks if they whine about territory compensation. You can't own a whole f***ing country, man. I am totally 100% against the Expos in the AL. Tor-Mon World Series. Keep the dream alive. The rest of that article can also eat several bag of dicks. There was that rumour about drastic realignment years ago...Chicago teams in the same division etc. And that got nowhere as it should. I think it's all clickbait. The game changes incrementally with time. From one playoff spot per division to five over the course of several decades. It doesn't change that drastically overnight. This isn't the NHL which grew out of 6 teams that played against each other all the time so extreme divisional overhauls aren't such a big deal. There's a certain mystique to the game that would be lost if the White Sox and Cubs played each other 20+ times a year.

Winnipeg, right? These statements are not mutually exclusive.

No, that's his bully at school.

Yup I did, though that game it was split because the Leafs only scored three (TT over 3.5). Yesterday was a particularly good day for me. 8-6 on the overs but 2-0 on my big bets (Leafs and Caps - both of those were only total 5.5 lol) and just barely squeaked by the daily over of 82.5 goals. Yesterday was 83. Needed the late goal and the last second empty netter by the Kings to save me on that one. I like those just barely wins though since it'll keep the lines low for as long as possible. Everyone has made this observation, with how the Leafs are playing and Ovechkin. Struggles of certain goalies. But have a look at game averages so far this season: https://www.hockey-reference.com/leagues/stats.html One more penalty per game each team. Thanks to the new rules and greater slashing calls. 0.34 more goals per team or 0.68 more goals per game. My estimate is that Vegas lines have accounted for maybe 0.2 or 0.3 of that move. For instance, yesterday's games had two total 6's, one total 5 (laying big juice on the over though) and the rest were 5.5's. This time last year a full card probably would have seen one total 6 and maybe 3-4 total 5's. So they are adjusting up, but not quickly enough in my opinion. So I'll ride this trend until Vegas adjusts up or the teams adjust their defense to avoid the slashing calls. Hopefully both at the same time then unders come into play. But if the refs stay consistent all year, fast talented teams like the Leafs are going to do really well. Matthews is a f***ing beast 3 on 3. The Leafs are going to dominate OT games this year unlike last year. I see the team taking this division relatively easily and that's not just homer goggles on. Too bad it's a completely different game in the playoffs. I don't see this team going far if it plays like this in the playoffs.
  24. I heard good things about that o2uici poster or however his name is spelled. Perhaps he should be given a chance.
  25. So just like every other organization that likes to abuse the internship program as a disguise for slave labour. Got it. s***, it's opinions like this that keeps me as a so-called political centrist when I aim for a Franco-level of fascism
