I guess this is the biggest tragedy in baseball since the Jose Fernandez crash. When he passed on, I cared, but I didn't really care. In that I took a moment for the initial shock and to absorb the news and then moved on with my day. Same for most other deaths of celebrities I like. This is much different. Up until around 3pm yesterday I was in a great mood. Now I've just been feeling lousy.
My first reaction based on the s***-for-brains that started this thread was that he was trolling for attention once again. But it turns out he wasn't joking. I didn't know Halladay personally, but I felt like I did, following his career. When he was pitching turds in 2000 and bottomed out in A-ball before becoming the dominant pitcher that we all know, that to me will be my defining memory of him.
When life gets tough you can either whine about it or do something to get through it and persevere. When there's some adverse situation that you're facing, think "What would Roy Halladay do?" That will be his legacy to me.
