  1. Hey dumb s***, Stroman played for the Jays. Bauer plays for some other team. Maybe Stroman gets more comments than Bauer on a BLUE JAYS message board. Also, plenty of people have had negative comments about Bauer. Just ask Boxcar i'm pretty sure he's keeping track.
  2. Fair enough. That still doesn't take away from my overall point that Ross Atkins is a little four-eyed weenie beta male who continually backs himself into a corner when it comes to trading players and somehow comes out of that even worse off from his lack of negotiating skills.
  3. I wasn't at any point referring to you. Not everything revolves around you, sir. No wonder you're such a downer a lot of the time. You must be one of those guys who think people are always talking bad s*** about him behind his back.
  4. The apologists are trying to take over the thread again. They need to learn how to separate negotiator (a good GM's skill) from talent evaluator (an underling to the GM's skill). These two pitchers may very well be good and the Jays can maximize their potential through player development, good coaching or whatever. But that does not take away from the fact that the trade is still s*****. What's the point of extracting excess value out of players through good scouting, computer algos, PD etc., if you're going to overpay for the guys in the first place? You're just undoing all of that excess value. Stroman likely puts up 15+ WAR over the next five years. That's a pretty high bar already for these two guys just to breakeven on the trade, particularly since they'll probably be 0 WAR through 2020. I guess you could say Stroman wouldn't re-sign here given recent revelations, but that was Atkins' fault too. You can't destroy the value of an asset then sell low on that asset and not take blame for at least one of those events. Ross Atkins may be a perfectly fine stat geek where he can pick up good players out of a draft then convince 18-21 year olds to sign relatively team-friendly bonuses, but he's a s*** negotiator when it comes to dealing with his GM peers. He needs to be ousted from GM role. I'd accept a demotion, but no man with any pride would go along with that so I guess the Jays have to fire him. Then again, if there ever was a man to accept a demotion, this beta male would make a pretty good candidate.
  5. Whew I am sure glad Atkins is white! Can't be racist criticizing him and there is a lot of well deserved heat headed in his direction. Shapiro not so much, which is a good thing because of anti-Semitism, but then again his people are stereotyped to be good negotiators and that is not what happened here.
  6. That's very racist of you to assume all posters on here are white guys criticizing a black guy. Because I assume that's your definition of racism. What if we're all black and criticizing Stroman? What fallback do you have for that?
  7. s*** trade. And to all the apologists trying to justify this deal: 1. An 18 year old prospect should not be the centerpiece of a deal, unless we're talking Griffey level here. The other guy, yeah he's okay. Thornton level. And they gave up Diaz to get him. 2. If Stroman is so undervalued as a pitch-to-contact type of guy, then the Jays should have extended him, recognizing market inefficiencies. And this is coming from someone who has been tired of Stroman's antics for longer than most. Atkins' actions here makes me remember again why I was a bully in school. I want to smash his glasses, give him a wedgie and throw him in a locker after this. And you apologists can mark this f***ing post too. If in 2025 this 18 year old wins a Cy Young in his second full season you can come back to this and I will STILL tell you this was a bad trade. If this guy gets this far it'll be on Jays' PD taking him there, not Atkins' trading skills. No surprises that Hurl is working overtime here to defend this trade. He hated AA with a personal passion so it makes sense for him to prop up the next guy. Atkins is undoubtedly below AA now. Still ahead of Ricciardi but only because the verdict is still out on his drafts while we know JP's was dogshit. Then there's Ash which yeah he was a terrible beta male trying to run a team with guys like Gaston, Carter and Clemens steamrolling him and Ken Williams treating him like a patsy, but even HE got Cruz Jr. for relievers.
  8. I use to love the stuff, had it maybe twice a week a few years ago. Then all of a sudden I lost my taste for it. I probably dipped from that jar maybe 5 times this year, if that. I don't think the age of the container has any correlation to me losing taste for it. I'm just one of those people who can't throw out food. I notoriously finish off everything and always buy exactly what I need at the grocery store. I still have an unfinished bag of frozen vegetables at the bottom of my freezer which I bought within the first few months of moving into my place, twelve years ago. I figure I'll leave it as a gift for the new people if/when I ever sell it. Or if my chick or my mom get access to the freezer, I'm sure they'll deal with it. My mom once asked me when was the last time I cleaned out my fridge. My answer was "haha, uhh, never?". Is this the type of stuff that gets done when there are women in the house?
  9. I have this tub of crunchy peanut butter in my cupboard that I eat from that says it expired in 2017. I'm still alive. Thank you Kraft chemical processing
  10. Vince Carter says it would be cool to end his career wasting a roster spot on the Raptors bench.
  11. Nothing like whining like a bitch on Twitter to some random's comments to prove that you are the glue. P.S. what kind of narcissist calls themselves the glue to keep a team together? Did Kawhi do that? Did Matthews do that? No. That's a compliment you use for others to spread around credit. P.P.S. Bob needs to stop being such a sissy sensitive femboy blocking half the board so he stops looking like an idiot with his repetitive posts.
  12. The Raptors made their future brighter, not worse, by getting rid of a bad contract. Unless you meant Poeltl and the 30th pick being the future. The dumbass fake news media needs to stop pushing the narrative the Ujiri is a risk taker and admit he purely won the trade, regardless of outcome. Literally one minute after it was finalized, he won that trade. Oh, and Webster won it too.
  13. Well Jim then there are three other dumbf***s who think just like you that the world is a s***** teenage TV drama. It isn't. There are no crazy women, or crazy men for that matter, other than those who have a diagnosed mental illness, addiction or PTSD from war, an accident or being raped as a kid or something. And those people need to be dealt with by the appropriate medical professionals. Other than that there is no one I have met that I'd consider crazy. Outgoing, high-energy and gregarious, sure. Stupid, yup. Stubborn, quick to anger, self-centered, sure. And if I have a negative or unfortunate interaction with someone, obviously they're going to have negative reactions to that, as will I. That doesn't make them crazy. As far as the f***ing is concerned, this is a very stupid generalization. It's all about sexual compatibility and in my experience sexual compatibility has some but not full correlation to personality. I've had bad sexual experiences too and it had nothing to do with the boldness of her personality, we just didn't like the same things. If you lay there like a dead fish so the chick has to use you like a dildo and get herself off, yeah, eventually she's going to get sick of that and react negatively. And then you interpret that as "crazy". Meanwhile a woman with a lower libido might be able to accept your lack of sexual prowess and just lay there and cuddle and you interpret that as "not crazy" but also not so good in bed. If you interpret all your good lays as from women who are crazy, then it is YOU with the defect, not 50% of the human population.
  14. Grab 'em by the pussy.
  15. Did anyone else get a chuckle out of these two posts being back-to-back?
  16. If teams are going to continue to game the system like this, in addition to whatever other changes need to take place to the CBA to align pay to performance, they should give a player the option of foregoing some service time in exchange for being called up "early". Everyone would win. The team would keep its service time, the player gets to earn league min instead of minor league pay and the fans get to see a prized prospect. Obviously the downside would be the team coercing players into doing it, but with basically every team doing this s*** now anyways, the downside is minimal. If not this, then some other mechanism to ensure prospects deserving of an MLB roster spot get an MLB roster spot. This is getting embarrasing.
  17. It's almost as if the Jays have such a plethora of talent in the other 23 roster spots that in order for Bichette to be called up, one of Sogard or Galvis MUST be jettisoned...
  18. This is not the NBA.
  19. Smoak has little to no trade value with the way he's playing, and it a likely candidate to re-sign here at a very cheap deal. Keep Vlad at 3rd. I don't know why there is a debate with Galvis or Sogard. The trade value is going to be next to nothing. If they stay this year and next as roster depth, I'm fine with that. If they are traded tomorrow, I'm fine with that. The variance between a good Stroman trade and an average Stroman trade is worth like 20 Sogards. That's what the team's focus needs to be on.
  20. Exactly. Thus things "other than stupid f***ing WAR" impact meaningless lists like this. And in terms of people being stupid, yes I agree with this in a general sense. As far as fans being stupid for liking Carter more than Olerud, I don't agree with that. It's not like this impacts their lives in any way. Let them like who they want. Who the f*** wants to cheer for that helmet-wearing weirdo over a cool black dude who sets up fine golf tournies? f*** you. Carter was the best.
  21. Also, gotta love the thought process on this. "Hmm, I'm the 40th comment in this thread and not one person has mentioned Steib. These dipshit younguns don't know their Blue Jays history! It couldn't just be that I must have missed his name."
  22. Good thing Dave Stieb is.
  23. Ah Olerud's revisionist history. First off, Grichuk isn't a comparable because Joe Carter came with significant pedigree. One of the game's best known sluggers that was clearly an above average bat even by modern metrics. The man was intentionally walked more than anyone else on the team in 1991 so clearly it wasn't just the Blue Jays or myself who held him in high regards, correct or not. You go back and forth between debating overall value of a player and hitting-focused items like production and batting order. But in terms of value at the plate, Carter was tops in OPS+ in 1991 and had 5th best in 1992 and 1993, but was a lot closer to the top guys than the average guys, at least in 1992. White and Alomar are twice as good as Carter because of the value on defense they provide. I know OPS+ isn't this board's preferred metric, but that's what BR offers when looking at the year by year team rosters and that's the limit of research I am willing to do on this. Also - and I know you're super sensitive about this - but the team wasn't built around a 35 year old with limited fielding ability post-WS years. Delgado and Green were coming up and it was clear that both Carter and Olerud were placeholders, Cito Gaston aside.
  24. Carter is in this and every list for good reason that everyone knows. Nobody remembers or cares about his flailing around in the outfield, blaming the Skydome lights, except the stats that have been invented after the fact. There is more to it about these meaningless lists than your stupid f***ing WAR counts.
  25. LOL not even a Raptors championship has done anything to alleviate the negativity and paranoia surrounding Toronto sports teams being cursed. I for one think the Jays should lock Stroman up in a Cryogenic tank until he's traded. He is literally a 100% certainty to have a Joel Zumaya or Dave Dravecky moment at any time.
