  1. Yup, the Jays hitting is pretty s*****. Any number of non-prospect prospects could be jettisoned to the bench or Buffalo in favour of EE and not just for nostalgia. I know the team already has and is happy with Smoak and Tellez but I hear EE plays 2B now.
  2. Triple overtime to give you extra heart attacks and ruin your well thought out viewing evening.
  3. Am I the only one who saw "Blue Jays acquire Edwin..." in the main page preview and got excited that Encarnacion was coming back?
  4. Stupid f***ing mouth breathers changed the Raptors game to 7pm when I planned my day around a 3:30 start time. Why the hell does the west coast game need a 12:30/1:30 start hippie time anyways.
  5. Fixed
  6. As a Korn fan when I was in my teens, this makes me happy.
  7. One of the biggest knocks on AA was his inability to plan for contingencies with solid depth and roster management. The first 7 players were stars, the next 13 were okay and the final 5 were replacement level or worse with no room for error for injuries. Well, the new regime has managed to do the same with the 2019 roster except the first 7 players aren't stars. And unlike AA who still faced a fairly challenging FA market, there were and still are perfectly acceptable to good players available at what should be a reasonable cost. The front office has proven that they are better than this. They are either tanking on purpose which is a very ill-advised strategy given the owner and baseball market they are in, or they have a grander scheme that still has to play out to use the excess salary space and we'll all praise the genius work come August 1st.
  8. Oh I have an interest. But unless the Raptors are down by 10 with 5 minutes remaining I'm not anxious about it.
  9. Roseanne Barr's was still worse IMO, and she happens to be a supporter of Tru....err nevermind.
  10. I'm glad I don't have whatever mental issues you have. I know pessimistic people in real life, they are the worst to be around. But I'm sure they hate being around themselves the most. Remember...Eeyore.
  11. Raptors are -255 favourites to win the game, -6 spread. Hardly a coin toss.
  12. I don't get your narrative here. If the purpose is to sign a one year seat warmer, who cares whether the pitcher is 28 or 35? If you're trying to sign someone good to a multi-year deal, yeah obviously you want a younger player, all else being equal.
  13. No it is absolutely not. I hope tercet trolls you now saying what a s*** ballplayer he is just for suggesting this. Oh and also signing some competent player doesn't necessarily mean Hernandez rides the bench. Have you seen some of the guys getting playing time recently? And for every Astros story in sports, there are like 10 Pirates stories. Or Sacramento Kings or Blue Jackets (until just now) or Oilers or Expos. It's not a path you want to go down if you can avoid it.
  14. JP Ricciardi being in charge of 25/40-man roster construction and somebody else being in charge of drafting, PR and pretty much everything else would go a long way to accelerating this team's competitive window. They should give a call to that big-nosed slob. I never thought I would give that man a compliment but man has roster construction been absolutely atrocious this year. That being said, this regime has done an excellent job in contracts (and avoiding bad contracts) and pretty good with trades. This scorched earth philosophy seems so out of character for them compared to the safe and steady stocking of the farm they did up to this point while still having a presentable team. It's like they've gone full 2013 AA except in the opposite direction. Nothing they have done to destroy 2019 benefits the future except in the opinion of some of the Jimtards who think the slightly higher draft spot will be a game changer any time soon. People have said bad s*** about Rogers forcing their hand to compete. I actually hope Rogers does force their hand a bit. Hopefully these guys have some aces up their sleeve come trade deadline day with some tradable assets and a ton of salary space to work with and all this will start to make some sense.
  15. BTS is making far too much sense in this entire thread.
  16. For those who are on the prospect bandwagon, which one of the team's non-prospects would have been blocked by good veteran players? That good players other than Guerrero aren't even up yet. This is just filler. This team has a distinct 1977 feel to it that could have been totally avoidable. The argument about a free season to suck all you want is asinine. Every loss, every bad season, the franchise takes a credibility hit.
  17. https://www.google.ca/search?source=hp&ei=lprRXOf4I8uE5wLsqrjwAw&q=masai+ujiri+giannis&oq=masai+ujiri+gianni&gs_l=psy-ab.1.0.0.1773.10789..13567...0.0..0.101.1534.17j1......0....1..gws-wiz.....0..0i131j0i3j0i22i30.DnH5eWJvZ8Y Umm, the relationship runs a little deeper than their heritage originating from the same continent. But sure let's run with that. They were both a couple of savage spearchuckers before the white man introduced them to a basketball, therefore they are soulmates. The Raptors are going to have a hard time, just like about 25 other teams would, in attracting top stars. They have a better than average chance in signing two of them. It's okay to speculate/dream. It's not like I'm saying they'll go and sign Durant. Also connor is a bald idiot and should go find a U.S.-based baseball team to fawn over since he hates our city/country so much.
  18. If Ujiri convinces Leonard that he has a decent shot of signing Giannis, that could be a factor as well. Those two plus Siakam would make a very nice trio on a championship team and the Raptors would have freed up cap space by then to get a decent ball distributor once Lowry's bones turn to dust. I don't view many other cities outside of Los Angeles as a threat. Unfortunately, a very big threat and likely favourite. Whoever wins the draft could also play a factor.
  19. And I'm just saying they better continue as such to hit the finals. Leonard carrying the team into the finals...I can see him considering sticking around. Leonard carrying the team and they still bow out to the 76ers or Bos/Mil, he likely goes.
  20. Well guys, this is exactly what you wanted over the past four seasons. The Raptors had too much depth, great for winning 55 a season and bowing out of the playoffs. Now we see the exact opposite. The team has the best set of starters in their franchise history and barely any rotation, at least matching up against the 76ers. So you all should be ecstatic about this! Unless this team at least makes the finals, there in no chance Leonard is signing here. With Siakam playing at less than 100% what I saw today was Leonard playing one level of basketball and nine other jabronis on the court. Embiid needs to be given credit for his role in this Raptors win too. Three straight missed free throws and a travel turnover in the last few minutes of a close game. That is beyond DeRozan level of choke.
  21. We gotta set some ground rules for this. Are we talking about guys who were bad as Jays or just bad players overall? Both of those players, while useless in Jays uniforms, did have palpable seasons elsewhere. This Hansen character has managed to achieve a career negative WAR in an era where front offices know what that means.
  22. I was just old enough to remember Tom Lawless. At least that dude could steal bases. I'm not going to pretend that 8 year old me could tell that dude really sucked at the time, but man his negative WAR per PA is up there with the worst of them. Bonus for him is that he managed to stick around for 2 years on a contending team. And he's got the win over Bautista on the all-time bat flips rank. I'm guessing there are some players even worse than that on the 70's teams.
  23. Pretty sure it's the guy with the Kang profile. The avatar connection gives it away. I guess his mommy allowed him back on the internet again.
  24. I was being sarcastic about the Martin thing, given that they probably passed each other twice in the clubhouse before Martin got shipped out.
  25. https://www.bluejaysmessageboard.com/poll.php?pollid=284&do=showresults Also quite proud that I have been consistent with my message on these two over the years: https://www.bluejaysmessageboard.com/threads/7037-Stroman-or-Sanchez/page2
