  1. Other than the obvious molester thing, the number of people in this world who have the first name Mohammad and last name Lester is zero. Even if Jon Lester was to convert to Islam, he'd do some Cat Stevens s*** to his full name.
  2. I for one would be very excited if Bellinger came here and don't consider him a reclamation project. Even in a s*** season, he managed 1.7 WAR in 535 PA versus Hernandez 2.4 WAR in 550 PA last year. A 0.7 drop that should apparently be made up with the BP help from the Seattle trade. That 1.7 in value comes in the form of what the Jays need - baserunning, defense and lefty bat. Worst case scenario Bellinger lands somewhere between platoon bat and good Brad Zimmer and puts up 1-ish WAR with his dying skillset used correctly. Best case scenario, this dude receives some Bautista, Smoak and Encarnacion magic and adds about 40 OPS+ belting 40 home runs with a .230 batting average and a WAR that probably approaches 4. On Bellinger's side, the Jays are an ideal match. A playoff team with a good offense but just so happens to have a lack of depth at the position he plays. So he'll get more leash here than he would with the Yankees or Dodgers. But at the same time he can rack up a ton of counting stats if he does produce. The Jays/Dome also have a history of turning guys around. With the aforementioned three plus Semien.
  3. He's really making my call that Manoah would be this team's best pitcher look bad Also lol at Gausman versus Manoah's ERA versus FIP. All four numbers are good and low just that Manoah is way overperforming his FIP and Gausman is underperforming his. 0 BB 41 K not even Arencibia could put up a ratio like that.
  4. Nah that's great news. Essentially the same record between the Jays and Yankees. While the Yankees have been facing the dregs, the Jays polished off the Astros for the regular season. Plus the Yankees have 7 games against them versus 6 for the Jays. Well worth the trade off especially in a tight race.
  5. How to sum up the Jays season in contrast to last year. 2021 Toronto versus Boston: 9-10 110 runs for 81 runs against 2022 Toronto versus Boston: 5-2 24 runs for 19 runs against
  6. Is Votto cooked? Small sample but I've seen a couple of his PA and he doesn't look good. Giving off Bautista vibes. K rate through the roof. The Reds continue to trot him out 4th which I guess is okay when you're trying to tank.
  7. Most likely Houston. His dad will command it so him and his wife no longer have those awkward moments in the stands when they have to cheer on their son playing for the opponents.
  8. The rich and famous always find a way to get in friendly with the politicians...
  9. Montoyo is now over .500 in his managerial career, a solid 201-200 record. 80 wins away from Jimy Williams. So there is a good chance Montoyo becomes the fourth best/most accomplished manager in franchise history behind only Cox, Gibbons and Gaston by season's end
  10. Goran Dragic have been trending all night on Twitter. Him being out of the playoffs first is already the championship win some fans needed.
  11. You don't need a playmaker if all you need is 90 points to win the game. It's all about containing the 76ers' offense which the Raptors have been shown to do multiple times this year. The whistles and the couple of highlight reel plays Embiid put up really put the focus on him. He's been far from MVP caliber performance this series. The OT game and that's it. Now the Raptors have seemed to figure out the secondary options or they just disappeared voluntarily either by themselves or under the genius of Doc Rivers. Harden of course is invisible as expected. 76ers Twitter is already s***ing themselves because they see it too. Raptors could win the next two games by 20 points and it should shock absolutely no one.
  12. Also the Raptors don't have the embarrassment of being the first team eliminated, if nothing else. That dishonour goes to Simmons' Nets.
  13. Come on Raptors, just two more games of this. This is exactly what I've been expecting all series. The Raptors can contain Embiid (I'm now 3-1 on betting under his game point totals and only lost the OT game). It was Maxey and Harris that were killing them. Having FVV out might be a blessing in disguise despite him usually being the rock to lean on.
  14. LOL at Hader's smug smirk after the call.
  15. Give it two weeks. When the rosters drop back down to 26, teams will be compelled to let their starters go more than 4 innings and not use 5 RP every game.
  16. Literally all that bad luck from last year has reversed itself. 10-5.
  17. Jays are 9-5, best in the AL, have been winning close games and just won a game where the team's win probability heading into it will probably be the lowest we see all year. And this goof is still finding a way to try to make this board an unpleasant toilet.
  18. I was going to say a WTF to Collins, until I saw this thread. The offensive downgrade from Jansen or Biggio to Collins isn't THAT much, and there is at least good reason to keep them out. You want to give Jansen the full day off after the heavy workload he took with 10,000 pitchers this weekend and Biggio off the bench gives you some options later in the game as opposed to have him in the DH spot. What you guys are really whining about is Collins being on the team in the first place. Which isn't on Montoyo. He's working with what he's got.
  19. My tissues will hate you for posting this.
  20. I don't know why this Will Smith meme is seeping in here but if you hit someone square with all of your might and they don't go down - or barely flinch - that's called a Rougned Odor.
  21. Someone who likes to point out when they are right is generally someone who isn't right very often. Sorry, I just can't resist doing the Jimcanuck special here. Probably still aren't going to do much in the playoffs but I consider the downing of the 76ers in round one a championship win. The trust the process losers are still getting owned by the team that won a championship, and recovered from a one year rebuild to be better than them again without having to embarrass themselves with 15 win seasons.
  22. There are many good things to get out of last night's game. But my favourite was Chapman's defense. Not only did he suck up everything to Bichette's right, but just his general baseball IQ and being in the right place for backing up plays. He is miles ahead defensively of any 3B the Jays have had in recent memory. Also, Guerrero's over the shoulder catch was the best play I have seen from him on the field and a difficult play for any infielder to make. Gurriel's sliding catch - which I would consider good but not outstanding - but just his and the fans' elated reaction to it was cool. There's a reason why the mishmash of relief pitchers allowed 2 runs over 6 innings with no strikeouts until Romano came in and that was the defense. This was my biggest worry pre-Chapman. They really stepped it up this game.
  23. People talking s*** about Judge meanwhile I'm thinking what the hell are the Yankees doing? They want to go full 1990 by 2025 I guess.
  24. One game late inning defensive replacement. No plate appearances. Just like Field of Dreams.
  25. Usually you come up with some high quality posts but this is just a bad take. And this is coming from a guy who doesn't particularly care for Cleveland. Your assessment while being neither a millionaire athlete nor from there is that it's a garbage city for Ramirez. Well, he clearly thinks otherwise. This post is smeared with "I went out on a date with a hot chick yesterday...oh wait she's not interested in a second date...well, she wasn't that great anyways" I am happy he signed the deal, given that these trade rumours never went away and I was legit nervous over the cost to get this guy. It's not like Cleveland was looking for low level prospects. Every single one of these players mentioned in a deal were either already on the MLB roster or expected to contribute very soon.
