  1. Sorry, that joke lost its edge after the first 40 times. I know, I know...25 pages. But if you click on any random previous page chances are you'll see it mentioned three times.
  2. As long as he doesn't throw teammates under the bus if his sadness turns to jealous rage or a marketing ploy a la Canseco. Though that would be incredibly, incredibly stupid if he did.
  3. 10 back of what though? Division or playoffs? With a second wild card and (expected) parity in the AL, the team would have to be something like 15 games under .500 to be 10 back of a playoff spot. It's practically impossible not to be a contender in July nowadays.
  4. It's 80 games. Not a lifetime ban, nor a debilitating injury nor cancer. No need to cry about it on TV like your life is over. He'll be in Buffalo in July trying to earn back a roster spot where he would have been anyways after being DFA'd. The "I would never, ever compromise the integrity of the game" really came off to me as "I would never, ever compromise the integrity of the game...any more than anyone else would". Upset that he got caught.
  5. I know that people are toying with Gruber to try and get him to rage, but the title of this thread and its predecessor isn't "Can Ryan Goins be a replacement level player after 2 years?" it's "Can Ryan Goins stick?" The argument back in the day was that Ryan Goins was such a s*** player that he wouldn't see the light of day with the team beyond a cup of coffee....i.e. sub-replacement. Well he's already had 800 plate appearances and based on the team's current depth chart he is a lock for 1,000 PA before he's sent down. He wouldn't have reached that mark without being a serviceable player last year.
  6. Selling "high" at any costs is not selling high. Goins, even as a pylon until Travis is healthy has more value to the Jays than the mediocre reliever he would fetch in return. And with Travis and Tulowitzki both at risk of injury, it's good to have as much depth as possible.
  7. Ok forget the championship then. I'd still rather see the Raptors win a round...
  8. He needs to get his walk rate back to where it was last year. If he can do that, I think he is deserving to be ahead of Barney on the depth chart. If he continues at this pace, not so much.
  9. No conundrum. Win now, and as often as possible. The Toronto sports town defeatist attitude rears its head once again. Somewhat cheering for a bad outcome in the small hopes that it will result in a good outcome in the long term. The Raptors losing this round does not guarantee Casey gets fired and even if he does it doesn't guarantee he is replaced by someone better. I'd rather the Raptors win the championship and he gets the Cito Gaston treatment for the next 20 years.
  10. Bell, Rogers, Telus and Shaw also thank you for not spreading this secret to anyone over the age of 50. Of course they still have us by the balls on the internet plans, but at least you're paying for just one service instead of 2 (or 2 instead of 4 if you include the home phone/cell phone services).
  11. There's only one update I want to see from that place. Some guy named ECOF starting a thread called "The Playoffs Will Be Easy To Make". From that point onward we will know the Orioles are doomed.
  12. Ok guys, the sentiment is appreciated but I think a lot of people are overreacting with sadness. Here's what I think will go down. He'll serve out his suspension then get DFA'd. No one else will touch him and he'll get his chance to work his way back onto the 25-man in Buffalo. If he makes it, he makes it. If he doesn't, he doesn't. With the way he was going, his time here was doomed anyways. Rather than wallow in purgatory forever which is where he was headed, the suspension means he hits rock bottom right away with this being day one of his chance to refocus and rebound.
  13. Regarding Hutchison, so many follow up questions... Is Stroman hurt? Is anyone else hurt? Are the Jays really going with 6 starters or is this a one time thing?
  14. Performance Crippling Drugs
  15. Might as well send an email off to DeWayne Wise while we're at it.
  16. For some reason I cracked up when I saw the N/As. I don't know why. It's not funny....well, it is funny for opposing teams and fans, not so much for us. I wonder if Orioles Hangout will ever catch on to the legit comedic factor of spots 22-25 on this team.
  17. Well a two-tool player with a declining skill set is still an improvement over a zero tool player. The Braves suck because they don't have enough talent at the top-end of the roster. The Jays final 4 bench spots of Carrera, Thole, Smoak/Colabello and Barney are as bad as any team out there and all options for improvement should be explored.
  18. While we're all popping a vein about Thole, let's just remind ourselves about how Texas literally threw away game 5 last year. Write this off as the baseball gods paying the Jays back a bit for that. But that doesn't excuse Thole's continued use of a perfectly good MLB roster spot, three years and counting.
  19. It's quite depressing when you actually look into it. My preference internally would be Jimenez and f*** the Dickey personal catcher BS. When was the last time Martin caught him? I admit I didn't pay very close attention to spring training. Ideally the Jays should look at any possible external options.
  20. Is this seriously going to be a meme forever on this board? "You mean the same Pillar, that whiny bitch who had an outburst before he was sent back down to the minors in 2013?"
  21. f***...ok guys I get the argument that you want a good defensive catcher in close games. But not Martin nor any other catcher is expected to play anywhere close to a 162 game schedule. Martin playing even just 120 games will have more touches on the ball and more impact on defense than Pillar playing all 162. He is earning is salary. The focus here should be 100% on Thole's inability to catch that f***ing ball properly and how that should be an end to his roster spot on the MLB Jays club. Bury him in Buffalo and find someone else with a pulse.
  22. I would be amicable to this as a compromise. Bautista to DH is probably not going to happen in a free agent year where he expects to get paid like he's 25.
  23. A reactionary thread with merit. Which player will call out Thole to ensure he doesn't end the game with a passed ball?
  24. Aaron Sanchez 1.35 ERA 1-0 and two no decisions. The offense is ruining his Cy Young bid this year. I'm assuming there's no better motivator for Tulowitzki to start hitting .365 than a 170 pound teenage stringbean teammate calling him out in public.
