  1. LOL the Knicks are so derpy. I love having them in the Raptors division. Imagine Rose and Anthony on the same court with only one ball to share between the two of them
  2. I'm going to be a minority in this, but I think wins and winning percentage is a very telling stat, at least for someone who had a long career where the law of averages apply. You take one look at Halladay's winning percentage with the Jays compared to the team's winning percentage in games he wasn't involved in and you know he was a pretty damn good pitcher.
  3. They probably want Pompey playing everyday, which might not be an option right now with the big club. Might as well bring up the scrub just to fill out a roster spot and make sure a live body is in there for backup. Also what's this nonsense about Pillar needing a day off soon?
  4. I agree with this. The rest of the line up has been raking recently. If there's a time to rest Bautista for two weeks this is it.
  5. ??? Hasn't been THAT bad. The rotation has been a rock.
  6. EE, JB, Smoak and Saunders - realistically the Jays will need to sign at least two of them. There's no way that the front office can let all four walk and expect to fill the holes in the OF/1B/DH with internal options.
  7. 37-31 57% chance of making the playoffs 18-8 since the Rays series meltdown which had everyone talking about dumping free agents for prospects. It would be nice if you could spend a day without fantasizing about potential salary dumps to be had in the offseason.
  8. Any free agent at JB or EE's talent level who is younger is going to require an 8 year $200M commitment. With these guys at least there's a shot at a 3 or 4 year deal.
  9. http://www.fangraphs.com/coolstandings.aspx Jays are up to a 52.8% chance of making the playoffs. Only Boston, Texas and Cleveland have a higher percentage right now. Doubling from the 26% chance the Jays had three weeks ago before heading into Minnesota.
  10. I view it as the Jays have a bunch more days off (or no double headers) which only works in their favour come August when Sox and O's regulars might need a scheduled day off and the Jays do not. The term games in hand really only makes sense in the NHL where they go by point totals and not GB to determine the standings.
  11. ??? Red Sox won in 2013. Winning a World Series in one of the three years automatically disqualifies your team for being considered as disappointing. I disagree with the Yankees as well. Their team was built to win in 2009 and they did do that. The bloated payroll you see now was a result of the attempt to win back then.
  12. Nationals for sure. The Pittsburgh Penguins of the MLB without the World Series appearances. Was a miserable team for years to pick up the #1 picks and have gotten how much value out of Harper and Strasburg?
  13. ??? Dickey = Dickey Estrada 2016 >>> Estrada 2015 (knock on wood) Happ = Buehlre Sanchez 2016 > Sanchez 2015 + Hutch Stroman 2016 > Stroman in a wheelchair + Dubront + other random hacks Price >>>> everyone but only made 11 starts The jury is out on that one and I lean towards 2016 rotation being better.
  14. I should hope, and I believe that he will explore all possible options to improve this team before settling for this option. Especially considering that he just signed Joseph and drafted Wright for extensive backcourt depth while the front court needs some work.
  15. We need to keep the trade Bautista and EE talks going. If this board gets too optimistic the Jays will pull ones of their 2-8 runs again until the bemoaning is back at full force.
  16. So who is cheering for OKC tonight solely for Trouba95 to go f*** himself? Even though I can't stand Cleveland and they stand a better chance against OKC than the Warriors with home court and it would lessen that Raptors slim chances of luring Durant...still...it'd be worth it to see one of the dumbest comments I've seen on this board fall apart in front of our eyes. Especially one that should have at least held true with a 73-9 team, even if it was incredibly stupid.
  17. This would be very juicy bait for a gun rights activist. The point would be moot since I don't think you or the vast majority of Canadians have guns by their bedside.
  18. Great season. It would be nice if this thread can go 24 hours without complaints about needing to can Casey or toss DeRozan. 56 wins in a season and a conference final appearance is better than what most teams have done in recent memory.
  19. Immediate DFA and hope someone picks up his contract.
  20. What would Junior Lake bobblehead day bring?
  21. 25 man current roster, but 600+ former players. I, for one, would not want to miss out on Dave McKay bobblehead day.
  22. Method #1 for ensuring a packed crowd at 81 home games: Spend $150M+ on payroll and hope the 25 man roster remains competitive throughout the year. Method #2 for ensuring a packed crowd at 81 home games: Spend $40M in payroll on minimum wage scrubs and finish dead last, but give away 40K dolls every game that cost $5 to make AND guarantee there will be a long line up in front of the ball park hours before start time every game. That's $16M worth of dolls for a total of $56M. Jeffrey Loria are you reading this?
  23. It's guys like you who make guys like tercet do the things they do to poor old BTS. I'm sure he would trade his online harem of teenage boys for one decent woman in a heartbeat given the chance.
  24. Next you'll be using this kind of argument to try to explain why there's a disproportionate amount of males to females in politics, instead of automatically coming to the conclusion of systemic bias against women. For shame. And of course there's the implied stance that if minorities are less interested in analytics, it's because they are less smart and/or less interested in using intelligence to gain an upper hand in sports than white people. For shame x2 BTS, for shame.
  25. It's funny that people think this cast is going to bring in anything of value in a deadline trade outside of JB and maybe EE...anything better than Tirado. Particularly in a scenario where the Jays are out of contention, these guys will have to underperform.
