  1. Plus....how many games did Detroit play in the 2016 playoffs? 156 minutes doesn't exactly make a career. I find it funny that a second Detroit player made the list given how relatively dominant Harris is on this chart. Pacers as well.
  2. Vegas has the Heat -5 for tonight's game which was the same line as game 3. So the betting public thinks the two injuries more or less offset each other.
  3. Ok, under this scenario you are giving up two decent young players with years of control in exchange for locking up Bautista's replacement during the middle of 2016 and before you've determined that there is no chance Bautista is re-signing. I disagree with this course of action. You're right, it is like the Dickey situation and everyone agrees that was stupid. But at least at the time AA was desperately trying to fill SP holes. There's no apparent need for Reddick on this 2016 squad as long as all three OF's remain healthy and Smoak holds his own. Reddick isn't that much of an elite player that you need to go to such desperate measures to get a leg up on the other 29 teams in order to sign him for 2017 and beyond.
  4. Beane: I'll counter with something much less than that, because that's way too much to pay for a partial season of Reddick,
  5. Something that has been brought up before in the Chapman and A-Rod ordeals is that the Rockies have a very obvious conflict of interest in all of this. This essentially allows them out of 25% of a contract that ended up being a very bad move for them. If he's found guilty, perhaps there's a way for them to get out of the entire contract? Policy aside, it's not a good thing when owners have an incentive to turn their backs on their own players in these types of situations.
  6. The Jays always reserve one spot for a fringe player to act like the clown. Rajai (though his may have been from legit lack of intelligence), Kawasaki and now this dude!
  7. Three straight Atlantic division titles, averaging 50 wins in the last three years. The second time in the second round of the playoffs. Cap space, two first round picks in the next two years, a deep bench and a team that's hanging with the 3rd seed in the conference despite the best player clearly being injured and the second best player (offensively, at least) playing like horseshit and who can be easily jettisoned after the season. And an outside chance to get Durant in the off-season, or a higher chance to get another quality player to replace him. That's progress by my definition. When this thread started people were hoping for a tank to get the #1 seed for Wiggins. The past three seasons have been remarkably better. What would you rather see? The 76ers? Every year they challenge or set some kind of record for futility to get top draft picks and where has that gotten them so far?
  8. I hope you're right about all these points except the first one. If the starters continue what they've been doing there's no way this team wins only 83 games.
  9. The Jays need another 11 game winning streak. This 13-15 crap is making everyone extra pissy.
  10. What's with that old school s***...Bobby Cox was a master of the platoons (Buck/Whitt, Mulliniks/Iorg) in the 80's which qualifies as old school to me. So if those maroons are spouting off, their nonsense isn't even historically accurate. I should hope Buck isn't one of them. It's thanks to platooning that allowed him to get more playing time than he deserved over a clearly superior player.
  11. You guys are right. I just kind of secretly want Goins around to see Gruber win and continue to win against the "hive". It's compelling to see the underdog win, even if the underdog is in the form of someone who reminds me of a raging Scott Steiner (a super easy to piss off and barely coherent muscle-bound roid head for non-wrestling fans). Also I'm pretty sure Spanky is biased because I recall he has a Goings-fail bet going on. Though at this pace it's looking pretty good no matter which level of baseball Goins plays for the remainder of 2016.
  12. Dammit. I was thinking this was Moogy's latest troll account...you know...without the "NotThat" part attached to it. But there's no way Moogy would have said something this egregious, unless he's trying to do a 180 on us and annoy us with stupidity rather than his self-proclaimed brilliance.
  13. This is a definite consideration, assuming the team expects Barney to not clear waivers. Whatever they decide, I will assume they are competent enough to make the right decision given all the circumstances.
  14. What the hell is wrong with people these days...losing going to your head? Pillar > Goins...clearly...on both offense AND defense. If I had to choose which skill set is relatively dominated more by Pillar, it'd be offense. Travis is going to be up with the MLB club the instant he's ready. Whether it's Barney or Goins who gets cut from the 25-man, it doesn't really matter. The value provided to the team as a back up infielder won't make much of a difference. At least Goins is Donaldson's video game buddy so I'm fine with him being the favourite for that reason alone. If Tulowitzki gets injured the team can revisit their options when that bridge is crossed.
  15. Thanks for that piece of advice. I was never able to figure that out myself especially this year with two teams riding 40+ game home winning streaks.
  16. Raptors are pretty strong favourites against the Heat. I'm surprised. I think the Heat have value here though I wouldn't bet it due to my allegiances. The Eastern Conference winner odds are way out of wack...Cleveland is a -500. Of course they will be the favourite but THAT much of a favourite? I think betting the field has value.
  17. I go every six months, once in winter once in summer. Going down south at that time is amazing. The ocean is like a Jacuzzi and it takes 20 minutes to tan before you're dark. Also prices are much cheaper and the resort isn't so packed.
  18. If we're talking about how Tulowitzki's tenure in Coors impacted his offensive skill set, keep in mind that he's not really a power type of guy even with the 20-30 HR he would hit in a year. When the Jays got him I thought first of his defense and ability to get on base. If he can get to his career norm of about .370 OBP and hit 10-15 HRs a year I think we'd all be pleased with that. We don't really need more sluggers in the line up. I mean, even with his atrocious start, he still has an OBP over .300 which isn't SO bad given the context. The Jays have rolled out guys who would struggle to maintain over .300 OBP all year in recent years.
  19. Poor Colabello can't make this roster either. He should learn how to pitch.
  20. Don't worry guys, this team will get it together once I'm on vacation. I go down south for a week every year early June and I swear the team has been something like 20-1 while I was gone the past three years. The 2013 and first 2015 11 game win streak took place while I was away.
  21. The admin of this site made a bunch of troll accounts on the official MLB Jays forum to attract people here. That's my understanding of the situation anyways. And now that there's too much traffic and it's causing server capacity issues, he's stepping up his troll account here to make us go away.
  22. Yes, that idiot has really been upping his troll game the past couple of days. And I don't even look at the GDTs.
  23. Nice, this thread looks about ready to be locked.
  24. Gonna need a lot more than 1 WAR to turn the team around!
  25. The starting pitching is in pretty good shape in terms of depth. I think the lack of depth on the offensive side has more to do with roster mismanagement than depth. Better options are sitting in Buffalo right now.
