  1. It was well inside the strike zone. Umps blow.
  2. He played hurt last year. The numbers weren't any different in 19 and 20 and he was an above league average hitter both those years. He's had 5 ABs this year and did well in spring. I get not playing him tonight, but it's not like they didn't know this matchup was coming. There was no reason not to give him a pinch hit at bat or DH him instead of Collins the other game. Having confidence and playing well is a real thing in professional sports. Charlie's done his best to kill Biggio's confidence. 6 games in and 5 plate appearances.
  3. Kay against the top of the Yankee order....seems like a manager error.
  4. so this is how Yankee fans felt last night...
  5. I don't get not using Biggio. Probably the same result. Holmes is a tough pitcher, but still. Biggio had a nice spring. He's had 5 Plate appearances spread across 3 games. Espinal is playing out of his mind, so I get playing him over Biggio, but there was no reason for Collins to DH last night and he should have got the pinch hit last inning.
  6. feels like Biggio should be batting if we're using a pinch hitter.
  7. well he's only played his first game of the season tonight and he won't come up until that 7th year is locked in. May 1ish? It all depends on how long Danny is out. Obliques can be tricky so if he's out an extended period we could well see Moreno.
  8. Because he caught yesterday, and he will likely catch 3 or 4 out of every 5 games. He did extremely well defensively yesterday as well, but as you pointed out he's fat, so you have to give him a rest every now and then.
  9. That was my thought. How closely are you watching the game when you don't realize Kirk is Dhing and Kirk has an accurate arm.
  10. It's one thing to sit for Espi who can hit. It's another thing to sit for Collins who we will likely see tomorrow behind the plate. There was no reason for Colllins to DH tonight.
  11. He had some bad babpid luck. He left a couple over, but he had one good pitch spoiled by a hit and that come backer that him him would have been an easy out. It was hit right at espi.
  12. I like Biggio too. I think he's a tick above league average with the bat too. I just think we're stacked, which is good because our pitching hasn't been great so far..lol.
  13. I'm not so sure it's over reaction with Espy. Dude had a league average walk rate last year. His o-swing percentage was a tick below 30%, so right around league average or maybe a tick better than league average so he's not a free swinger. His contact rates in and out of the zone are some of the highest in the league. He had a better than league average line drive rate last year. He just had no power. 2 homers last year. This year he had 2 homers in spring and his career high exit velocity prior to this year was 104.4. He's had 3 balls over 106 this year with the best topping out at 106.9 and he's only had 6 plate appearances. I don't think it's too early to get excited about this kid. If he's hitting it harder he should be another guy who is a better than league average bat.
  14. me thinking Tapia should hit 9th and it's 4 to 0 before he gets his first AB hitting 7th. Ah it doesn't fing matter
  15. Tapia should not hit ahead of Espinal and Jansen.
  16. Espinal will post an OPS north of .800
  17. The light show looked pretty cool on TV, I can only imagine what it looked like in person.
  18. I thought Kirky had that one...just missed.
