  1. I'm shocked you feel you are 100% correct... complete win...you won...hurray...maybe you can go say hi to your wife for a change now..lol
  2. I would label Rasmus injury prone....but he played 118 games last year..he was on the DL a couple of different times...he had oblique issues and in 2011 when he first came to us he was on the dl at the end of the season. He's not jose Reyes by any stretch...but then he's hasn't been Robinson Cano who's played a min of 159 game or more for the last 6 or 7 years. Rasmus missed all of his time in the second half....if you look at his splits he's always had great stats in the first half and poor stats in the second half....he didn't hardly play in the second half so his 118 game season isn't perhaps so monster like as one would think. He also had two sub par seasons prior to this. He has one year on his contract. I'm not sure there is as much value as one would think....I'm just playing devils advocate throwing out what other GMs would say...they would say he played 118 games...if he had played 150+games his numbers would have dwindled down like they always do. I personally think Colby made some fundamental changes and improved his game.......If I were AA, I would be saying....ahh..he hit the DL due to a rib injury..and then he got hit in the head and now has a concussion under his belt....he had two tough years in a row prior to last...but last year he only played 118..it wasn't even a full season....I would be pressing on those things with his agent trying to drive the price down...because I do like the player and I would want to extend him at the right price..
  3. You're selling a one year contract on a guy who's had some injury issues....not sure the returns are going to be that great. I would rather keep and extend rasmus...but maybe he's asking too much.
  4. It would seem we are speculating on the degree or level of inference Colby or his Dad came to based on degree to which AA may have inferred the likelihood of him getting traded....so in essence we are belabouring a point on which we are not entirely that far apart on...but speculatively speaking anyone posts 300 times a day...is more than likely to respond to this post....it seems like quite rational.
  5. I'm not speculating. I'm using my brain. It's all about context of words. Would AA ever come out and say to a player like Colby.....get ready to pack your bags...we are trading you. No..never. Have you not paid attention to the jays for the past 4 years? Sure, AA got the moniker of Ninja by being so forthright and open with players...give me a break. AA might have told Colby he may be traded that they are listening to offers on him....but they are listening to offers on all players. It's just common sense.
  6. Yeah...but AA does...that's why this is pure speculation by Rasmus' dad.....I don't think AA is in the business of weakening his bargaining position...so telling a player he's going to be dealt....knowing that his dad is a mouthpiece...I just don't think that's a mistake that AA would ever in a million years make...
  7. There's absolutely no way AA said to Colby be prepared for a trade. That's not his MO...he doesn't operate that way. At most if there was correspondence between AA and Colby or his agent...he would have said....we're always looking to upgrade the team and I can't guarantee you we won't trade you. Colby has one year remaining...he's a valuable trade chip...I think it's far more likely Rasmus' dad is connecting the dots....but the reality is there's still a good chance Rasmus is with the team this year...It all depends on what would be presented to AA. I don't think he's looking to get rid of Rasmus...he's looking for starting pitching and Rasmus' name may be coming up.
  8. I don't think it's Southern Ontario that scared Colby off....last year he came to Saskatoon I believe.....When it get to minus 10 out here we all break out in cheer talking about how warm it is...lol
  9. The hall is subjective and everyone has a different opinion....it's an old boys club voting based on ridiculous ideas....but even on this board you see wide divergence of opinion amongst fans....personally I don't see how Walker isn't in the hall. The ballot is stacking up..because there are a few guys that should have been voted in already....
  10. I personally like the gamble on Tanaka, but the jays seem to be cursed....if they somehow got him here he would come and do terrible....any other place and he'll be a to 20 pitcher..lol. The Jays can't really afford to spend 20 mil per for 6 years and make a mistake....but I'm not so sure Tanaka would be a mistake...great command...and you keep all your young assets to develop.
  11. Tanaka does not have plus velocity.....so many say his talents won't translate to the mlb. I really enjoy this scenario because there are much more limited statistical numbers to go on...there have been a few Japanese pitchers come to the mlb, but not a statistically significant number. You're not comparing his minor league stats to other minor leaguers around him...there are no mlb stats to go on...you're judging talent...velocity movement command....and you have people who will say he's a number 1 and people who say he's a number 5 and everything in between...
  12. They should wait till the deadline...if they are out of it...deal for a quality prospect....
  13. How does Colby who has one year left get an elite controllable pitcher? He doesn't. Anyone trading a elite of at least number 2 type pitcher isn't competing and would rather have an extra prospect than Colby for one year. Maybe Tampa would want Colby for price, because they still have enough pitching to compete and they would take rasmus but would obviously want additional prospects
  14. As long as it's two self assured arrogant posters going at it who both dish it out...there should be no bannings....this is the offseason. There's a lull in topics. These types of spats are the equivalent of the real housewives shows that my wife watches......banning this type of entertainment seems silly to me....more drunken posting spats I say...lol
  15. romero and morrow have both had success.....I think the good doctor was probably the best acquisition the jays could have made. Roy working as a consultant passing on some knowledge could be very good for a lot of pitchers who have talent but are missing something. Halladay said in his post retirement news conferences that it was the mental side more than the adjustments mechanically he made that transformed him as a pitcher. When I look at Drabek, he has good velocity, good movement on his pitches....he can't command his stuff. Last year however, he had 6 walks in 43 innings in the minors..this is something he's never done before. You add the mental mentor that Roy Halladay could be and who knows. Almost everyone has written Drabek off....I think abomination was one poster who said Drabek might be a surprise. I'm not willing to stick my neck out for any one guy...but we have 4 or 5 guys that could surprise...we need 2 to surprise...we have depth with guys like Happ and Rogers....I'm excited for the season...most are dreading it..lol
  16. none of them....don't you gamble? I like to roll the dice. John Lackey did not guarantee 150 quality innings going into 2013....in fact there were long odds against it...but he put up 189 quality innings....dreams can come true...lol
  17. You don't know how cheap Gentry is or any other player...you're just assuming you know. You don't know how a healthy Melky Cabrera will do....there weren't exactly a ton of LF options out there. Ellis will have a 1.5 WAR next year....Goins will provide the same WAR he does it with defense which is an area that is lacking...Gose as a starter makes me cringe...but as OF depth...he has the ability to steal bases and play defense...what more do you want out of your outfield depth. It all comes down to pitching which is a crapshoot...We could be talking about a Drabek or a Hutch being the saviour at the end of the season...this team needs a couple upside surprises...but they have a lot of arms with talent....hutch, stroman, drabek, McGowan even romero...they need one or two of these guys to find themselves as pitchers...it's the mental side an health that are the issues...not the stuff. I would prefer they sign a starter, but if they don't I'm not going to say at day 1 that they have no shot.
  18. I'm said series....season...whatever....just two teams playing a large number of games..statistically significant...pick your number of games...50, 100 150....team EE, bats and Rasmus beat team trout all day long assuming all other players are equal...
  19. I speak of the Angels of 2012.....you take a team of 6 scrub players and bautista, EE and Rasmus vs 8 scrub players and trout and play 162 game series and the first team with bautista, EE and Rasmus wins way more games than the team with 8 scrubs and trout....
  20. I'm saying WAR is a non standardized calculation with a margin of error that many don't understand. I think a team that has a war 8 higher than the 2nd place team in the mlb should at least make the playoffs..the fact that they didn't makes you question certain things. I think a team that has 9 positional players and 5 starters with equal war will win more games than a team with the equivalent war with a few above average war players and many below average war players....but then that's just me.
  21. lol...fair enough....I agree the multiple accounts thing is stupid....but if the guy or guy,s and there are more than just zee and dog who have multiple accounts, simply had one account and said dumb things I wouldn't ban anyone because that's a subjective matter. If they said things I disagreed with I would debate the issue, an if they were just way off the rails, I'd just ignore them, but then I'm quite a bit older than many on here...lol I can't for the life of me understand why one would want to have more than one account. I like to stand by my comments. I say things, and when I'm wrong on issues so be it. When I'm right about issues or prognostications, then I can feel good about my convictions and beliefs. I have no problem with admitting when I'm wrong about something as no one is ever correct 100% of the time. I once stood strong on the JPA bandwagon, but had no problem capitulating and admitting I was an idiot. The reality is there are many subjective issues where there is no right or wrong and that's the joy of debating things on a message board. Seriously...dogg..zee....I ask as someone who is tolerant...what's going on in the mind of yours to create 100 different alias' on a sports message board..lol. Maybe you do have multiple personality disorder.
  22. oh war smar.....the angels have been in the war post season the last 2 years....unfortunately last year they only won 78 games......I agree that LAA will not trade trout because they have the financial means to pay for pieces they would get...but if Oakland or tampa had him they would listen to offers at some point....
  23. It depends on how high you are on Sanchez and Stroman....if you think they are number 2 type pitchers that's a lot. You don't get trout for life..you get him for 4 years....Baseball is about 25 guys...9 positional players and 5 starters.....LAA didn't make the playoffs the last 2 years with trout.
  24. free speech...what's the point of having a board full of people who are like minded.
  25. a 12 page thread about bautista that mentions bautista 2 or 3 times. Maybe someone should create a new forum..lol.
