  1. The article mentioned they made an offer to burnett and that they struck out with Jimenez...not that they made an offer to jimenez. "This is an organization that has already struck out with A.J. Burnett – although they matched the Philadelphia Phillies offer – and fellow free agent Ubaldo Jimenez."
  2. Why don't you post a link to these credible people who indicate it's a lie. I'm not saying that blair isn't perhaps mistaken on the matter, but I don't see why he would lie about this or why lying would benefit him.
  3. sizemore signed a major league contract with 750K guaranteed with incentives to earn 6. I would wager large sums of money that if the Jays dfa'd a healthy dustin McGowan right now that he would get picked up.
  4. Yeah..because there are tons of dependable #4 pitchers making 1.5 million. McGowan arm was healthy last year without any surgeries. His arm thus far in spring is extremely healthy for his standards. He could give you 40 innings in the pen for 1.5 million dollars with great stuff and you want to toss him aside because you're assuming he will get hurt. Do you know how fast the Yankees would sign him if he got released. A 1.5 million dollar gamble for a plus bullpen arm is a no brainer for a team like them. 1.5 million is tipping money for the Yankees and they'd be all over a pitcher with 3 plus pitchers for that kind of dough.
  5. yeah..it's McGowan's human interest story, not his 98 mile an hour fastball keeping him around. You're going to get rid of a guy for one bad inning after he pitched well last year.
  6. at a boy! I knew you could do it.
  7. so has McGowan and he's sitting 96 to 98. I triple dog dare you to say even one positive thing about the jays. You may twitch, shake, perhaps go into convulsions as you attempt to hit post quick reply button after having typed a positive comment, but I believe in you moogy.
  8. All Santana has to do avoid a QO is to sign April 1. However, a team signing him at that time gives up a pick and gets a pitcher who wouldn't be ready until 3 weeks into the season so teams may just pass....but then Santana could sign in june after the draft as no pick would be surrendered and he wouldn't be subject to a QO but he would miss out on half a year of salary. If Santana signs in the AL east and puts a up a season where the team is willing to give a QO he'll be able to sign a long term deal.
  9. blue jays 14.1 mil, Monday, davidi
  10. if goins puts up a .610 OPS with his plus D I would be fine with him. It's not like we're reaching for the stars with goins. I think that level of production has the possibility of being reached, but he could definitely be worse than that too..lol. Your point is well taken though.
  11. I have to admit....goins swing is looking a bit too long. Seems like he's pressing. He has to get it started way earlier if he's going to swing like that. He'd be better off shortening things up a little.
  12. Given the make up this team what type of offensive numbers would he have to put up to justify a position given the level of defense he plays.
  13. kasmir, jimenez, lackey etc. can turn it around but Ricky can't? If Ricky had lost velocity or good movement on his pitches, writing him off would be one thing, but he still has those things. The stuff is there, but can he start commanding his stuff better? I guess he has no shot..lol.
  14. fair enough....all you had to do is post the link in the first place...lol That was from a month ago and the two are friends though...not hard to believe that bautista would think Santana who is a friend could help the club
  15. he's openly campaigning for Santana without making any tweets, or without speaking to any media who would report it so. That doesn't exactly sound like openly campaigning to me. He may be doing so behind the scenes, but people are just speculating so because the two are friends. It wouldn't surprise me if he did speak to AA and as a leader and someone who could aid in the process. Jose is doing all his talking on the field having hit three bombs already this season.
  16. that's if he signs with the jays...if he signs with the orioles we'll be discussing whether he will start the all star game by may 15th..lol
  17. scares me a bit too, but it also scares me that he could sign with Baltimore and have a great year. I can't help but wonder if blocking the orioles from signing him is part of the motivation. I hope he signs at any rate and I've waffled back on forth on Santana.
  18. Tricky Ricky is looking okay to me....still has velocity...lots of movement in his pitches...battling command...but he's taking baby steps forward. 3 innings, 3 strike outs, 3 walks, 1 hit no runs allowed.
  19. drew is the one I dont' get. Given what Peralta got coming off a ped suspension, how does drew get no offers?
  20. McGowan was sitting 96 to 98. Give him multiple innings next time out and see how he feels.
