  1. His velocity has ticked up since 2012 when he struggled and had some injury issues. Last year was just a write off. They tried to make significant mechanical adjustments and it just didn't work. So far this spring he's still not commanding his pitches as well as you would hope...but with some increased velocity and with him maintaining the good movement he's getting a lot more swing and misses like the old Ricky did. If Kasmir can come back, anyone can. Tricky Ricky just needs to get that walk rate down to 4 and he would be an okay number 5.
  2. 3964 posts since may 2013, somehow I doubt you'll quit watching baseball if Romero makes the roster...lol
  3. I tend to agree...but I think they should start him in AAA and limit his innings early...let him work fastball, change and save his arm and then bring him up june 1ish....hopefully romero can eat some innings..still has the movement and velocity.
  4. Ricky Kasmir is going to show you some things this year....not that I would bet large sums of money on it...but dare to dream.
  5. The Ricky Romero bandwagon is making a stop for anyone who would like to jump aboard. Why? Well who the hell else do we have to start?
  6. yeah...but you can't listen to in in sask due to broadcast restrictions from the mlb..lol
  7. It was a dumb question. Heaven forbid the mlb would miss out on a few bucks of revenue and allow free radio for spring training games.
  8. bases loaded none out, one in....can stro limit the damage here?
  9. lindy with a single....I think Lind might have better numbers than he had last year.
  10. I've kind of gone back and forth on this in my own mind. I'm unsure of Santana, but Santana would have helped the rotation where we are stuck. We do have the hutch, stroman, romero, drabek, McGowan....maybe one or two jump out of that group to help...rogers and Redmond can give innings. I think the lineup as it stands is a top offensive lineup....with drew I think they could score the most runs in the MLB. Reyes Melky EE bats lind Colby drew lawrie Navarro That would be a lineup...no go get Drew if he can be had for one year.
  11. where's the both option...I find it laughable that there's a debate of would I...I'm sure 99.9% of the posters on here have been with worse. I'm an old married guys so I wouldn't because I'm married..but if I was single....I'd be more than happy with either one...lol
  12. what's the difference between he looks like a number 2 the way he's pitching and he is a number 2. The latter gives you 200 innings...the former is a guy who develops into that guy. I said Hutch should start in AAA. I said he could come up around june. I think he will give a sub 4 era for the innings he does pitch this year....I think he develops into that guy who gives you 200 innings and a 3.5 era in time. I was not pumping Hutch's tires at all this offseason. He's been a very pleasant surprise. I never expected his velocity to increase as much as it has and for him to maintain that command it's very encouraging. We should have a thread about hutch and how excited we are as having him as a very enticing prospect. He's 23 years old. He plays on the Jays though, so he can't develop into anything better than a number 5 right.
  13. I'm putting zero stock in spring training and a lot of stock in my eyes. You can see where he is spotting his fastball. You can see the movement on off speed pitches and you can measure velocity by what the gun is saying. You can project how that will play in the regular season. Yes, I need to see more innings to see if he maintains the command and velocity, but from what I've seen already and what I saw in his first stint in the majors I am encouraged.
  14. You're acting like a petulant child. If you read my post you would have seen that I said even given our current scenario I want Hutch in AAA until june. The Jays made the offer. They had players and media talking their interest up in regards to Santana. Short of flying out to where Santana was, giving him a ruffy and forcing him to sign the jays did all they could. The player has a choice!
  15. \ The Jays made the offer...they made it first. They didn't try and cheap out on the offer. They offered the same money days ago, essentially setting the market which was what Santana wanted...then he sat back and prayed someone would come in and match and the Braves did. What more could the Jays have done?
  16. I'd sign drew on a one year deal in a heart beat....may as well bash it out with offense.
  17. AA isn't going to trade for anything until mid way into the season....he will either buy then or sell...depending on how well the offense holds things together for them.
  18. When you watch a guy hit the glove and execute 10 pitches in a row with plus velocity it raises your eyebrows. Sure he's struck out 9 in 5 innings, but it's the manner in which he's executing his pitches and repeating his delivery. I understand that you are not allowed to make qualitative judgements on this site. AA s***, Hutch s***, blue jays s***....there I'm one of the crowd now.
  19. I still like what I'm seeing out of hutch. He looks like a number 2 the way he's pitching right now. I'd still like to see him in AAA and limiting his innings until about june 1 though.
  20. The Jays weren't going to make a multi year offer on Santana. I don't blame them for that, but when it came down to a one year they offered as much as the qualifying offer and more than Baltimore. He didn't want to come to the AL east and I don't blame him. He got bailed out by the fact that medlen got injured. Do you think 14 mil for Santana is too cheap? What would you pay Santana 18 mil? 20 mil?
  21. Well at least it wasn't Baltimore. What are you going to do...the jays made a good offer and the player chose to play in the nl vs the al east. I highly doubt they are going to trade for Samardzija.
  22. what a funny post...seriously just sign Santana. I can't take any more of this!
