  1. Cabrera is looking like miggy Cabrera this spring 11 doubles now....man he's on everything
  2. ha ha...it was nanita..that's kind of pathetic...fire the twitter twat posting for the jays.
  3. I know it's spring training, but I think the atmosphere actually helps both teams headed to the regular season...90% of this game is mental..the other half is physical.
  4. man that was a pretty fun spring training game! Jays win!
  5. man if only jeffress could command his stuff consistently. I can understand why he's got so many chances...he looked really good tonight.
  6. Lind has just taking his god given talent and grown up and is now thinking, looking at film and working on his approach...he's maturing as a hitter and I think he's going to have an even better year this year.
  7. This atmosphere is great....really great tune up for the jays to play in front of this crowd.
  8. I hate the leafs and I just assumed the Raps would be beating Boston..but have been flipping back and forth....wtf...raps down by 4 with 3 to go
  9. or perhaps they have the medical reports and he's healthy enough to play and getting some reps in the field never hurts before opening day.
  10. Man I wish I was going to the home opener. Tanaka vs McGowan.....
  11. We also signed bautista to a good contract and EE for 4 years 37 mil...that's a steal. Happ was stupid. Izzy was a career .715 OPS guy prior to last year and there's not much for 2nd base talent out there for 3 mil a season. It was pretty much a market rate contract...I still think Izzy can bounce back some this year.
  12. The only option at this point is McGowan. AA went and watched McGowan today, not happ. That should be telling. McGowan said he felt great after the outing. That's only half the equation. The more important part is how he feels tomorrow. He should bump from 63 up another 15 pitches in 5 days. There's no reason to push it. McGowan starts the home opener and if he has an 85 pitch limit so be it.
  13. I missed the start of the game, was busy with work. I just saw Wilner's tweet though. Did Happ really give up a home run to a pitcher?
  14. If McGowan starts his first game is against Tanaka. The entire baseball community will be watching because of Tanaka. Most non Jays fans won't even know who McGowan is as he hasn't had a meaningful start since 2008. It would be lots of fun to see him battle Tanaka in front of a sold out Rogers Centre.
  15. In McGowan's first full season as a starter he pitched 169.2 innings posting a 4.08 ERA. In 2007 the American league averaged 794 runs with the Yankees scoring 968 runs and the Red Sox scored 867 runs. Last year the AL averaged 702 runs. The ERA he posted in 2007 would equate to a 3.6 ERA in last year's environment which had way less offense...perhaps even lower when you adjust for the fact that McGowan pitched in the AL east. He followed that up with a 4.37 ERA pitching 111 innings where he most likely pitched some innings hurt. McGowan has just over a full season as a starter. He never had the time to develop his command, his mental toughness, his understanding of how to set up hitters and his results were still very good given how strong the yanks and sox were at that time. I think we should be very excited at he prospect of having McGowan pitching instead of Redmond, happ or Rogers.
  16. John Lott ‏@LottOnBaseball · 6m McGowan in 4th: double, K, F9, 4-3. Done after 62 pitches, 41strikes. 3H, 0R, 0BB, 4K. Sat 92-96 throughout. Dustin hits 62 pitches. How will the arm feel tomorrow?
  17. Do you disagree based on statistical analysis of McGowan, or do you not like his delivery, his fastball, his change up, his slider, his command? Why exactly don't you think Rogers and Redmond are superior pitchers to McGowan.
  18. Gose needs to be in AAA to work on his defense and his offense. He made a ridiculous amount of mental errors defensively last year and his arm was not accurate at all. He should be a good defensive player, but he was anything but that last year in his time in the majors.
  19. bold predictions....Jays score more than 800 runs.
  20. I'm positive it's just the 1st day of the season. It would be less than a year and he would be ineligible for the QO. However if a team signs him before the draft in June they lose a pick. After the draft they don't lose a pick. Nice outing by Buehrle....Happy Bday Mark!
