  1. Jays ownership has egg all over their face. There's only one solution to all of this. Deflect all the attention off themselves by putting the money out there and signing James Shields. Do it!
  2. his ablity to play first base is definitely a plus. I wouldn't call smoak a good defensive player, but he can play first.
  3. he could take bats away from smoak. He's had better offensive stats the last 3 years. It depends on whether or not smoak bounces back, although Smoak is a lot cheaper.
  4. it's hard for something to stabilize when there's not statistical way to measure it's effect. You're educated guess of 3x is noted though. Thanks for your opinion. As it relates to Navarro, I couldn't even assess his abilities as a game caller. The things that stick out in my memory are the Zaun comments where he actually points out where Navarro calls the wrong pitch in a given situation.
  5. I see...how much more valuable is framing?
  6. what's more important...framing or game calling ability?
  7. They have a payroll north of 250 mil....they better be having a good offseason.
  8. lol...you make it sound like if you had Jays hadn't made the worst mistake of their lives and hired you that you'd never make a mistake because you're just that good..lol. All baseball executives make mistakes. Alex is a first time GM. Is it really a surprise that he's made mistakes? At least I know why you hate AA and the Jays. They spurned you.
  9. I don't remember reading this....you have a link
  10. Goins posted a .472 OPS last year. That's super terrible and worse than JPA circa 2013 at the plate.
  11. All the Toronto sports media not attached to Toronto the last few days has done nothing but outline how ridiculous a move for DD would be in exchange for a top prospect. The entire media world outside of Baltimore is re-iterating this fact. The dumb suits at Rogers know nothing of baseball. After taking a step back and reading for the 100th time how stupid they are being for entertaining these thoughts of trading a Hoffman for an executive, they will simply let it go and Beeston will retain his job for 2015. The issue is that how is all this ******** effecting Alex' ability to conduct business. Maybe he's been put on lock and key and can't trade Navarro or sign a krod or even an axford to finish of what started out as a great offseason. This is just an all around bad situation.
  12. You're a funny duck and you're going to be disappointed. Jim Duquette said there's no way the Jays trade Hoffman for Duquette. Hoffman was a top 3 overall pick before he got hurt. He slid to 11 which is still a top pick. He absolutely will pitch in the minors this year. He won't be high on some prospect lists until he starts pitching. You and the orioles fans are whipped up into a frenzy and that weams dude, who you might be, is going to have a heart attack when the Jays get Duquette for a lower prospect or if the Jays just walk away from Duquette.
  13. What effect can Duquette have on the 2015 Jays? The offseason is almost over and most free agents are gone and teams have done a fair amount of wheeling and dealing. Most rosters are getting close to being set. If Rogers had any sort of brain, they'd keep Beeston for 1 more year and back off Duquette. They probably pay a tampering fine, but they'd probably pay just as much to Beeston for letting him go now and bringing in Duquette. How do you think Baltimore is going to feel next year after suffering through a year of a disgruntled employee? We'll get him for next to nothing just like the Red Sox got Farrell for nothing one year after trying to acquire him the first time.
  14. Don't you mean Hoffman, Donaldson and Bautista?
  15. you have to quit listening to jim bowden
  16. If you're owner is offered Hoffman and declines he's an absolute moron. There's no way that I would ever give Hoffman up for Duquette. I'm afraid Rogers might be dumb enough to offer Hoffman. I hope your owner is equally moronic and declines.
  17. wasn't 5 accounts a slow week for the dog back in his prime...
  18. AA has be somewhere in the background begging and pleading the organization to not trade Hoffman for Duquette. Seriously, give them Navarro and give them 10 mil. That's got to be what Duquette's contract is worth roughly for the 4 years. We'd be paying their GM's salary for the next 4 years and giving them a player.
  19. how is it a lazy characterization to suggest that some people are overly critical by nature, due to an intense belief that their wealth of knowledge of the complex nature of baseball is so vastly superior to almost any personality that sportsnet would put on TV. It's like Zaun, who played 15+ years at the most involved position in the game, has zero to offer. The people complaining about one's arrogance are generally arrogant people themselves lol. There's nothing wrong with self assurance. It makes for lively board discussion. I think Zaun offers insights at times, and the other times not so much. I take in the good and ignore what I deem irrelevant or off the rails. I like Zaun's personality. He makes me laugh at times. I'm far less likely to complain about Zaun, or people in general, because I don't expect perfection. All the power to you for having such high standards, I'm just more easy going.
  20. I can assure all the complainers that whoever ultimately replaces Zaunie, you won't like him either!
  21. the three regular rays posters didn't take kindly to having the board taken over last time.
  22. I would structure a deal around Hutch, but I'm not sure the Nationals would be interested. I guess it depends on the ++. I don't really want to see Pompey included in any trade proposals with our lack of options in centre.
  23. Yeah..you're probably right, but you're probably going to find it tough to track someone down who's feeling sorry for Max and his 14 year 210 mil contract for 7 years of work.
  24. I commented on this too, but in fairness I'm pretty sure he wasn't being serious..lol
