    I'm just trying to think outside the box making sense of this. Perhaps we are overthinking it. They want Delabar to work on things. His option doesn't necessarily mean osuna will be in the pen either. Osuna should open up the season in the minors as a starter.

    This actually makes me wonder if Sanchez has a poor outing today is it possible Sanchez moves to the pen and Osuna moves into the rotation?

    this is what you get with a GM with one year left on his contract. He's being ultra aggressive. If it pays off and the Jays make the playoffs he's out of contract and leaves a team with a boat load of young talent that he's brought in or developed. Winning with young players is sexy and could be appealing to many franchises. He's building his resume. If the Jays win this year the way they are being set up there's a strong likelihood AA could get an offer from another team for a longer more secure term than the Jays would give him. That said even if I agreed that Castro should start the season in the pen, there's no way both Osuna and Castro should be on this team from day one.

    that and a never ending budget. With the 28 mil signing bonus and the 10s of million they are paying for players to play on other teams this year their payroll is around 300 mil. That's insane. With Ryu down and Anderson due to break down any day now they could actually might not be a lock to make the post season and they're spending 80 or 90 mil more than the Yankees without factoring in the luxury tax.

    so you're saying that baseball professionals should never make mistakes? How about Bautista, EE? How about giving Stroman a shot before most thought they should. Goins was given a shot because there was nothing much better behind him, and he proved he could even worse than the crap that was behind him. Thames was given a shot when Snider clearly wasn't ready and maybe his time in the minors actually benefited him! Moises was never anything more than a 4th outfielder and he's had a decent spring for KC so far...lol.

    my stance is simple. I trust in the blue jays coaches over the a bunch of know it all nerd. I believe Sanchez will be better than Estrada. I think Estrada is a 4.5 ERA guy...upside on him might be a 4 ERA. I fell Sanchez can do better

    well that's the thing now isn't it. The decision to make Sanchez a starter stems from conversations pete walker, pat hentgen, the catchers, perhaps other scouts, gibby and AA. Bare in mind that these people have actually watched Sanchez all throughout camp..lol. Collectively the coaches feel the best option is for him to be a starter. You feel you are smarter than that collective without having hardly seen the kid. Time will tell how smart you and your merry band of men truly are.

    yeah....sides are lining up. I've always said he could be anywhere from poor to very good or somewhere in between, but I'd rather go with someone with a higher upside. Others have basically said, he could be good, but there's a 95% chance he won't be good based on their superior understanding of the game of baseball. Time will tell if you baseball guru's are smarter than the professionals being paid actually money who are going to put Sanchez in the rotation.

    for the love of god, can we send aaron sanchez to the minors and start Liam Hendricks. We can't lose Liam Hendricks!

    so the herd believes Estrada and Hendricks are "better" options. I'm glad I'm not part of the herd. I'm curious as to why you think he has more trade value than actual future value? You're assuming a professional GM can't evaluate his future value and will overpay for him.

    Martin's learning to catch an entire new staff including a knuckleballer. A lot of those pitchers are kids. Martin's offense is the last thing I'm worried about.

    it's more of an AA issue. They can't let Navarro go. If they want Thole to catch Dickey, they need to facilitate a trade and that might take some time, but's it's more on AA's shoulders than Gibby's imo.
