  1. Sanchez is going to be a starter next year.
  2. That's a pretty big IF and a pretty bit of an unknown if he's the same pitcher given all his injuries...I'm going to go out on a limb and say he wouldn't offer the same terms if he was still with the rays.
  3. 10 mil for a guy who's averaged what 40ish innings per year the last 4 years is a gamble most clubs can not afford to make.
  4. padres look like they are going to double down and gamble again this year. They got burned last year with Johnson, and now look to have an offer out on Morrow. I really think Morrow could be a great bullpen arm if he would just make the transition.
  5. would rather have kang, but the jays won't spend the money.
  6. well considering gregerson got 18.5 mil for 3 years and he`s posted a sub 3 ERA for his 6 year career as a reliever, Morrow definitely is not going to get 8 mil to pitch out of the pen. Morrow might land a 1 year 4 or 5 mil deal if someone views him as a starter. In a pen I agree he`s in the 2.5 to 3.5 mil range.
  7. I think they were referring to hitters who started their careers in asia. Shin soo choo was playing in North America in the minors as an 18 year old. Choo definitely is evidence that we can't categorically dismiss an entire country though. He's had success maybe another Korean born player could succeed..lol
  8. Dude's got some pop. You can't fake bat speed. You either have it or you don't. I'm not sure how he would hit in the mlb, but when he plays next year with whoever and get's a hold of a pitch it's going out. We won't go after this guy because he's probably looking for a 5 year deal and we aren't going to spend the money even if it isn't a big financial commitment.
  9. I'm very interested in seeing Travis play and want him to get every opportunity to make the team. If the jays are going to sign an international, why don't they go for that kang guy...maybe he would cost too much.
  10. Porcello is a mid rotation guy...he's not a number 2....their entire rotation is mid rotation guys just like the Jays...let the offenses battle it out. At least Stroman looks like he could be a number 2 starter.
  11. 12 passed balls, throws out 13 percent of runners and pitchers don't like throwing to him and he only played 76 games behind the plate. That's some fantastic defense. He's been suspended and tied to steroids. Kemp played through injury and he's not a centre fielder. Put him in left and watch him hit bombs. Grandal had 443 plate appearances last year and put up a 1.1 WAR. In what techno coloured dream world is Grandal a 3.7 WAR player?
  12. Kemp's health is a gamble, but if he's healthy his bat is a thousand times better than Grandal. The padres are never going to be able to sign a power bat. A trade like this makes sense for them. 15.4 AAV for a guy that play in the middle of your lineup is important for the padres.
  13. so you want to empty the entire farm for 1 year of cueto and 2 years of chapman and 3 years of an overpaid player on the decline. I'm pretty sure it doesn't take a ninja to pull of that deal. Cinci would be all over that deal.
  14. every players numbers will struggle in that park, but he's a quality offensive player if he's healthy.
  15. They threw in 30 mil to cover the contract. The Padres have kemp for 5 years 77 mil. That's pretty reasonable for a big middle of the order bat. Throw him in a corner outfield position and his defense isn't as big of an issue. He posted a .971 OPS in the second half. If he posts an .OPS anywhere close to .900 he's going to be a great player for the padres.
  16. the trade was fine, but the poster who you traded away for future considerations has a point. The Red sox depth is terrible in the rotation. I know it's still early, and obviously they are going to make some more moves, but as it stands the rotation is: buchholz Miley Kelly workman ranaudo If that's the starting 5, who are the number 6, 7 or 8th guy depth guys?
  17. so with out need for relief pitchers.....castro surely can't crack the opening day roster can he? Will he come up mid season, September, or not at all? Tough to tell with such a young player, but it sounded like AA wants to gamble on the kid.
  18. sanchez is terrible...we're doomed.
  19. only negative the last 2 years. Hill always played good defense. His defense even at this age is pretty close to a league average 2nd baseman. You're gambling on his bat bouncing back. I would flip Navarro for hill if Arizona kicked in 6 mil as well.
  20. maybe they will go get scherzer too..who knows..they do have a lot of money to spend.
  21. that 7th year with the Giants could have been a vesting option just like the deal he got. His current deal has a vesting option that would take the deal to 170 mil....which is absolutely ridiculous. Look at next year's free agent pitching market. What are the cubs doing?
  22. I don't understand how this is good for the cubs. They are not going to make the playoffs this year. I hope other teams break the bank and commit ridiculous dollars to scherzer and shields as well. Next year Price, Fister, Latos, Cueto, Zimmerman, Iwakuma, Samardzija, Lackey, Porcello, Kasmir, Gallardo are all free agents. I'd much rather be players in next year's starting pitching free agent market and the Jays will have a lot of payroll cleared up for next year as well.
  23. I would be surprised if he doesn't go to boston.
  24. 10 mil after tax is 5 mil in your pocket. I get why it's taking so long, but it's annoying. I suspect he's got the offer he wants, he's just waiting for the team he wants to play for to match it. I'm just saying if I was in that position, I wouldn't take the highest offer. I'd play where I was going to be happy. AJ had a 12.75 mil player option to play with philly and declined to sign and play for 4.25 million less in Pittsburgh where he will be happy.
