We don't grade out that well this year..lol. Danny is quite fast for a catcher. He has league average speed. Unfortunately our 2 fastest runners are Grichuk and Teoscar, who have terrible base running instincts. Vlad is a lot slower this year and we've added Shaw who is very slow and now Vogelbach who is now the slowest on the team.

I wonder if Rowdy might be involved in a pending trade. With that trio we must be one of the slowest teams in the league. I looked up Vogelbach's sprint speed. It's 24.1 feet per second. Vlad is 24.9 and Rowdy is 25.2 this year.

If he could play 2nd or short I would be fine with the move. It doesn't make sense with what we have. You're cherry picking stats and ignoring his overall numbers. His career wRC+ is 98 and he's a first baseman.

Rowdy's league average for his career and league average this year with a .216 Babip this year. I don't understand optioning him and bringing someone who isn't playing that well this year in. The group is pretty tight knit. Optioning Rowdy, while Panik and Drury remain on the team would do nothing for the clubhouse.

That thought actually crossed my mind. I would have no issue moving Bo to 3rd and Boegarts to short long term. Boegarts has 6 years left at 20 mil. That's a pretty friendly contract considering he's not yet 28. I'm sure the Red Sox would ask a fortune. Groshans would be one piece that goes back. They would be asking a lot more though. I'd be interesting to see what people think it would take to get him. Just Boegarts their initial ask is probably Pearson, Martin and Groshans. With Eovaldi Groshans one of Manoah or SWR and one or two lower level prospects? I wouldn't do the first deal, but with our payroll flexibility I would do the second deal. Boston would get crucified by the media and fan base if they traded Boegarts so it's not likely anyways. Fun to think about though. I didn't realize Boegarts had an opt out after 2022. That significantly reduces his value as he's almost certain to opt out. I actually think he's a target you could get if you took on Eovaldi. I would still give up one of Groshans, Manoah or SWR and a lower level prospect or 2.

I view him as a rental. I would be open to him replacing shaw if he was willing to play 3rd. He probably wants a longer deal than I would offer. The phillies are now 9 and 14. They only play atlanta and Washington prior to the deadline. I'm just not sure what the asking price for gregorius might be.

I've talked myself into Gregorius. He's our every day short stop until Bo gets back. He can play third. Shaw can play first. Out of Shaw, gregorius, rowdy and Vlad you can give guys the odd day off and you have at least one quality bat on the bench and injuries could happen. What does an expiring Gregorius cost?

He's expiring.......they most likely will lose him and get nothing. I get he's an amazing player, but it's a month..lol. You're probably right though. It's likely a big ask. Looking at the Phillies, Gregorius might be setting sites a bit lower and he's expiring. We just need the phillies to lose a few more.
