You know the NFL has been pushing all season for the Chiefs to make it back to the Super Bowl. Bills are the better team but I'm sure the Chiefs will get some help on Sunday.
  2. Well, if the Jays don't sign a bat like Alonso haha, Wagner likely gets most of the AB's at DH. We'll see what happens.
  3. I wouldn't bat Springer lead off in my opinion. But I bet they still do. Could be wrong. If you get 2022 Gimenez, for sure. Not sure you can trust his sub .300 OBP in the leadoff spot. If he proves himself early on, he could move up quick. Agreed with Kirk. Tough to put him anywhere in the lineup since he's going to block pretty much everyone haha. You could switch Gimenez with Kirk.
  4. Ideally, would rather have Springer down in the order, but I bet he's going to be given another chance to leadoff. Would rather have Bo leadoff and hit Vladdy second with Santander third. Get your best players the most AB's possible. If Springer is leadoff, lineup probably looks like this: RF Springer SS Bichette 1B Vladdy LF Santander CF Varsho C Kirk 2B Gimenez DH Wagner 3B Clement Bottom of the order, doesn't really matter. Figure Varsho bats 5th ahead of Kirk, since Kirk is slow on the base paths and don't want to block Varsho and his base running, which is one of his strengths. If guys like Wagner and Gimenez hit well, you can move them up.
  5. Clement doesn't hit for more power. It's pretty much a wash. Kim has shown he could potentially hit 20 HR's (17 in 2023 playing half his games at Petco). OBP is a big deal. Kim is far superior. Means he generates less outs and gives the Jays a better chance to score more runs. A .350 OBP is a huge upgrade over a .280 OBP over a full season.
  6. I said I hope he doesn't become this guy. At the end of the day, Shatkins is the one making the big bucks to make these decisions, and yes if most of their FA deals don't work out, they're the one's accountable. I hope Varsho becomes a 125wRC+ bat haha. If he does, great! Definitely Shatkins deserve credit. I really couldn't care about the Santander contract. It's not my money. I'm actually excited we signed a 40+ HR bat and hope he can help the Jays into the Postseason. I think we all do.
  7. Bet 365 gave me my full cash out which was nice. I got $100 riding on the Athletics still haha.
  8. Yeah Kim's OBP is also far superior, which does allow him to steal more. Makes a difference. You can also hit Kim near the top of the lineup, whereas Clement on a contending team at best could only hit at 8th or 9th. I don't have an issue with Clement starting at 3B if the Jays added other bats in the lineup to make up for his spot in the lineup. Ideally, Clement as a super utility guy who can play all over the field and work his way into 300-400 AB's would be better. As well, with Bo likely leaving after 2025, signing Kim might not be a bad thing.
  9. This lineup needed a power bat spanning over the last two years regardless. Don't have to be an armchair GM to recognize that. Whether Santander is the right fit, we'll see. Could backfire if he all of a sudden just becomes a .290 OBP guy with 25 HR's. Let's hope not. Hopefully we get a couple more 40+ HR seasons from him! Would be nice if Atkins could continue to add. Alonso or Bregman + Mad Max would be nice final touches! Definitely would bring some excitement heading into the 2025 season!
  10. You get the sense the Jays had to do something big on Monday after the negative headlines they've been receiving from the Sasaki fiasco over the weekend. Heck, when Mike Wilner is even critical and calls for Shatkins to be fired, you know it's bad. Signing Santander today makes Sasaki old news and definitely acts a distraction.
  11. I already cashed out and got my $100 back haha.
  12. Just stop it. Give me Kim all day over Clement. Heck, having both around considering a Bo departure at the end of 2025 actually would be a good thing. Can Clement steal 35+ bases? Just curious.
  13. I actually like their odds in a WC matchup better with Santander in the lineup. The 2023 team lacked a big power bat and we saw that being a difference in which the Jays only scored 1 run in 2 games.

They're the better team, but the Bills have to go up against both the Chiefs + the NFL. Chiefs definitely will have the refs on their side and the NFL wants them to go to the Super Bowl again.

Go Bills! Hope they can take out the Chiefs next Sunday!
  16. When Mike Wilner throws in the towel, you know it's bad.
  17. 2010: Blue Jays went 85-77 shockingly haha. Breakout season from Jose Bautista, Wells with a solid bounce back season. Great season after the disastrous 2009 season. Strong rotation with Ricky Romero building off his rookie season, Shaun Marcum coming back from injury and an impressive first season from Brandon Morrow with the Jays. Even Brett Cecil had a solid year out of the rotation. 2011: 81-81 not bad. Bautista 8 WAR season; Yunel solid first season in Toronto; Brett Lawrie makes his MLB debut and rakes. Solid years again from Ricky Romero and Brandon Morrow. Casey Janssen solid first year as closer. 2012: 73-89. Romero started to suck; Henderson Alvarez was awful; Jose Bautista only played 92 games; Yunel s*** the bed; Lawrie didn't really blossom. Breakout season from EE however. 2013: 74-88. Exciting offseason but a lot of trades backfired. Dickey wasn't in Cy Young form, Josh Johnson missed most of the season; Morrow got injured. Rasmus had a solid year haha. 2014: 83-79. Improvement from 2013, but still fell short of expectations. Stroman came on the scene and was really solid. Hutchison also wasn't that bad. Bautista and EE had awesome years, and Melky had a great year as well. Lawrie disappointed. I mean overall, the 2012 and 2013 seasons were s***. In 2010 and 2011, Jays actually weren't that bad. In 2014, they were meh. It wasn't like 4-5 years of awful baseball.
  18. Ohtani and the gambling situation. Now this possibly with Sasaki. Can't trust Japanese ballplayers haha.
  19. Yeah agree, just hope Hoffman is healthy and that his shoulder is fine. Would definitely rather have Hoffman at $11M AAV over three years instead of what Minter, LeClerc and Kittredge got. Hoffman has been far superior over the last two season than any of those guys.
  20. No more Anthony Santander. Watch him sign with the Angels now haha.
  21. Looks like we're stuck with Myles Straw now haha. What a way to start the weekend 😅
  22. I still have the Josh Towers jersey yes haha! Thank you!
  23. I think even more now. Has nothing to do with Atkins IMO. More for other reasons.
  24. At the end of the day, Toronto isn't as desirable as a place to play, even for International FA's from Japan.
