  1. So in essence you're saying the Jays only option to add was through free agency and spending money? Hmmm. How about trades?

They definitely need to move RJ when the time comes to go on a run. Don't think he can be a main piece you can build around. Need to make a DeRozan/Leonard type trade again haha. As much as I like him, you're not winning a Championship with him as one of your "key" guys. Not good enough defensively and expensive for just a volume scorer. Quickley isn't anything special. Borderline starter/6th man who has been injured most of the season. Barnes definitely, but yeah he's not your first or second scoring option on a Championship caliber team. He's more of a second piece. So would be nice to acquire another super star who you can play with him. Poeltl is reasonable for the next two seasons, but yeah not sure if he could be this efficient again. Still a valuable piece to have on a Playoff team.

Endless fun indeed haha. Never going to have this opportunity again in any sport! He's made some improvements from last season which is encouraging. He's still young so definitely more room to grow and improve. So far this season averaging 15.7 PPG, 3.3 REB, 2.0 AST, 41.9 FG%, and 34.9 3P%. If he could end up being a 18-20PPG guy, get a little more physical and pad his REB stats where he is averaging around 5-6 per game, and shoot mid-to-high 40's in FG% and get his 3P% around 40 or higher, then he definitely can be a solid cornerstone in a 5-man rotation. Still room for that to happen in the next couple of years. If not, worst case then he's a solid role-player to have like you said, who can come off the bench as a 6th man.
  4. He went on that podcast last summer saying he was upset how this team never had a "pivot" to Ohtani last offseason and kind of hinted that himself and other veteran Blue Jays felt that way. Atkins didn't get Soto, Burnes, or Sasaki, but at least their pivot was Santander, Scherzer and Hoffman as free agents thus far, and they traded for Gimenez. I'm sure Bassitt and other players definitely feel better about this team heading into the 2025 season than they did a month ago or last March/April. This was a much better offseason than last!

February 6th. Poetl is under control for two more seasons after this one at $19.5M AAV. Having a career year so would be trading him at his highest value.

They finally healthy now. I thought before the season they were good enough for a play-in, though they never had a healthy rotation. Guys like Barnes, Barrett, Quickley all missed time at some points. Figured they dug themselves in a deep hole so they would focus on the lottery. But yeah these last two weeks, things look different now.

    Big trade last night wow!
  10. You own him in the LOD haha.
  11. I'm cancelling my Bell Fibe Internet and going back with Rogers!
  12. If we can get a season like that out of Mad Max, would be awesome!
  13. I agree, it has been a great offseason to date, even if the Jays don't do anything else. Glad ownership opened up the pocketbooks or else, there isn't much Atkins could do. Sure with one more big addition like Alonso or Bregman and/or locking up Vladdy, would consider that an "epic" offseason. Kudos to ownership!
  14. B+ or A- who cares, not much of a difference lol. I don't think there is anything "epic" about being given a huge payroll and signing FA's where Toronto likely is the only team competing for their services (e.g. Hoffman, Santander & Mad Max). I give kudos to ownership more than Atkins for these recent moves. As for Gimenez, sure nice trade to pull off, but don't make it seem like Atkins stole him away from Cleveland lol. Gimenez came with a $19.37M AAV who is locked up until 2029. There is a reason why Cleveland wanted to let him go and clear his salary. Lucky the Jays had the payroll, or else Atkins can't make that move. Overall, it has been a solid offseason even if the Jays do nothing going forward. Definitely more pleased with it in comparison to last offseason.
  15. It's also right on the Pinella's Trail. I've been to Clear Sky Draught Haus, Woodwright Brewery, Corks Coffee and Wine, Carvor's Fish House, Rumba Island Bar & Grill, Jack Pallino's Pizza, Reboot Arcade & Bar. Further up, The Ozona Pig, Molly Goodhead's.
  16. Will be "epic" if they land both Alonso + Bregman and lock up Vladdy. Heck, even one of Alonso or Bregman with Vlad locked up, would call it "epic." Right now, it's been a solid B+ offseason for them. Wouldn't say it has been "epic."
  17. Thoughts on Manoah as an arm coming out of the pen? Was discussing it with a co-worker today. Would be interesting to see if Manoah would become a dominant elite closer or reliever. Would be a cool experiment.
  18. Hopefully the Jays coaches and staff could keep him healthy for the duration of the season. Like you said, if we can get 20 regular season starts out of him + the Postseason, would take that.
  19. Get that payroll above $300M. Best GM in baseball!
  20. Who said Atkins was the worst GM in team history? I guess any negative criticism of him from others makes you think that.
