  1. Yeah signing Beltran would make more sense then Bautista, though the chances of him signing with the Jays are close to zero unfortunately. I'd rather have him as an OF/DH over Bautista based on recent production and cost.
  2. Agreed. It's a lot of money to put up front for the entire postseason, as well if you bought additional seats on top of that which I'm sure many season seat or flex pack holders did. It's funny how so many average people these days want to be like a scalper by purchasing up extra seats to major sporting events//concerts and trying to unload them to make a profit. Sometimes you can, though sometimes you can get screwed. I realized from last October and the Raptors playoffs that it's not worth the added stress to purchase extra seats and then trying to sell them afterwards. Dealing with idiots on Kijijji who expect to get everything for 50 cents on the dollar, or playing the waiting game on StubHub or Ticketmaster, and if those options don't work out then even calling around asking your friends or acquaintances if they want tickets for face value. Not worth the added stress in my opinion. I only made money off Game 1 of the ALDS which I sold for twice face value, and Game 3 of the ALCS where I made $50 more on each seat. The other games, I was lucky to get rid of my seats for face value but let me tell you it wasn't worth the aggravation. Same with the Raptors in the playoffs this spring: we bought like 1-2 extra pairs for the first two rounds and didn't make any profit at all. Ended up selling them to friends at face, but again not worth the aggravation in trying to unload 2-4 tickets every game. Additionally with Toronto teams usually getting awful time slots for playoff games (e.g. 1 PM or 4 PM Blue Jays games during the week; 12:30 PM games on a Saturday/Sunday for the Raptors), you can easily get screwed. For the playoffs as a Raptor season ticket holder, they give you the option of paying on a game to game basis which is very convenient rather than paying all up front for every playoff series. Shocked the Blue Jays don't do that.
  3. Maybe only for Game 1 of the ALDS and Game 1 of the ALCS were going for twice face value last postseason. Otherwise, tickets were selling for much less then face value especially in the ALCS which was pretty disgusting, so I'm sure there were a lot of people who lost money. The Rogers Centre holds close to 50K, so remember that. It isn't that difficult to get a ticket, even if you have to pay slightly more on a secondary market like StubHub, Vivid Seats etc.
  4. Anyone get an extra bobblehead yesterday? I have the Delgado/Wells/Bautista one that I'm willing to trade.
  5. Is the trade deadline in this league tonight or actually on the 28th?
  6. To the teams that have sent me offers on some players, I'll be able to continue those discussions late this afternoon when I get back to the city. If any teams see an interesting fit, continue to send me offers. I'll be accessible all night to talk trades.
  7. Looking to move some of my veterans. If interested feel free to send me some offers via Yahoo. Hosmer Gonzalez Castro Walker Trumbo Iwakuma Colon Wainwright Madson O'Day Neshek
  8. Don't some also stay at the Westin Harbour Castle?
  9. In Boston, it's the Sheraton. Even saw the Chicago White Sox players there before the Jays series that weekend because got there on a Thursday. In Philly, it's the Ritz Carlton. In Cincy, I believe it's the Westin which is across the street from the Hilton downtown (where I stayed), since I saw some Jays players like Yunel Escobar and saw AA in the Westin lobby, since both hotels were connected by an above ground walkway, so always walked through there.
  10. Won't even reach 100 + K's this season, so I don't see how he is even considered.
  11. Last reliever to win a Cy Young was Eric Gagne in 2003 and he posted a 4.7 WAR. Britton won't even reach that this season.
  12. That's awesome! I've seen the Jays on the road a couple of times. First time in 2008 at the old Yankee Stadium, which was an afternoon game and Giambi hit a walk-off home run off BJ Ryan. I saw the Jays play a series in Boston in 2009 at the end of August. Stayed at the same hotel as the players which was pretty awesome. Got to meet Cito Gaston, Jose Bautista (when he was a nobody), Marco Scutaro, Jason Frasor, Jesse Carlson, Kevin Millar etc. Saw the Jays in Philly in 2010 (games were moved because of the G20 in Toronto) and saw Doc face the Jays for the first time. Stayed at the same hotel as the players again, and met Buck Martinez, & Jesse Litsch who actually came to our table at the bar to talk with us haha. In 2011, saw them play against Cincy and last year went to NYC in September and caught the doubleheader on the Saturday. Never have been to Seattle before, though I've got some Air Miles to burn and I figure to hit up Portland while I'm out there and Vancouver again.
  13. Britton won't win the Cy Young Award.
  14. Should add Aaron Hill, he had some solid seasons. What about the pitchers drafted & developed by this organization? Marcus Stroman, Aaron Sanchez, Roberto Osuna, Drew Hutchison, Ricky Romero, Brett Cecil, etc.? Can even throw Noah Syndergaard into that group if you wish.
  15. This postseason I'll only buy extra tickets for a Game 5 and Game 7 because people will always pay to see those games. Won't take the risk of purchasing extra tickets to the other games, because you can be left hung out to dry knowing Toronto fans. I was able to make some good money off Game 1 of the ALDS, and some off Game 1 of the ALCS, though I was lucky to get face value for the other games I had extra tickets for especially Game 5 of the ALCS.
  16. 500 level seats weren't that expensive for the ALDS. I bought mine through the Jays box office. You could have bought tickets on StubHub for the ALCS less than face value which was appalling. Goes to show you that even bandwagon fans hop off the bandwagon even in the postseason, when the Blue Jays are a couple games away from reach the World Series.
  17. Not sure the exact amount. The Jays only played 6 home postseason games. Had different seats for each game (3 games in the 100 level, 1 game in the 200 level, and 2 games in the 500 level).
  18. I usually went to about 25-30 per season (bought a package of games from a season seat holder through one of my dads friends who had tickets 2 rows behind the away team dugout), though have taken it down a couple of notches the past 2-3 years. After watching games in other ballparks, I'm not that crazy as I once was to go down to the Rogers Centre unless theres a particular team/pitcher/player I want to see. Still went to about 15 games last year, and saw the Jays play in Anaheim when I was in California last August. I've only been to 3 games this season (which is quite low for me at this point in the season) though I was away in Europe for 6 weeks at the start of June. Plus, like GD said ticket prices have become more expensive. Cheapest seats in the 500s now are $25 face value through the box office. I'll probably catch another 3-5 games before seasons end, though I'd rather save the money for postseason tickets if the Jays make it again. I went to every postseason game last season which was awesome! I'm thinking about taking a trip out to the west coast in September to see the Jays play the Mariners in Seattle.
