  1. You need to see more of Yesavage before you write him into a Playoff rotation spot lol. As an arm out of the BP, sure no worries. Would actually prefer him in a BP role given the volatility of some of the Jays BP arms as of late. As for Bassitt/Scherzer it's close. Obviously whoever is pitching better and based on matchups. Would only trust Bassitt in a home start. Regardless, both are likely to be on a short leash of 4-5 innings anyways. A lot can still change from now till the ALDS
  2. It's possible, but I think a team will pay for that bat despite his defensive liability. But who knows. If he rejects a couple multi-year deals early in the offseason, it's possible his market dries up and he has to settle for a one-year deal before ST. Maybe he has to settle for a Cody Bellinger type contract, with a bunch of player options attached. They both are kind of similar FA cases when you think about it.
  3. Saw the highlight, damn that's a big loss for the Astros. Feel sorry for Yordan. Damn freak injury like that.
  4. I'm buying a Yesavage jersey! The kid looks legit!
  5. You really think? .311/.357/.483 with a 133 wRC+ and nearing a 4 WAR season. I think there is a team that gives him Wily Adames money. Unless he rejects that and thinks he's worth more.
  6. Was going to comment last night that Gimenez looks like he will Toronto's everyday shortstop next season. Defensively he looks amazing and he's under club control still. Kind of makes sense why Atkins went after him last offseason, given his ability to handle shortstop. A middle infield of Gimenez and Clement defensively is mint. I love Bo and his bat don't get me wrong. But I think the Jays know internally the chances of resigning him were slim and long term defensively, Bo is a liability. Like others have said, use that money on an outfielder like Tucker or a top arm like Woodruff, Cease or Bieber.
  7. K-Rod is a great example. Was going to suggest Roberto Osuna as a comp earlier but he pretty much was up in the Majors for the entirety of the 2015 season. Aaron Sanchez in 2014 came up and pitched well out of the pen, but they never made the Postseason. Other arm I could think of is when the Rays called up David Price in 2008. Got into a couple of games in September and then was heavily leaned on in October.
  8. Bassitt has been pitching well lately, and has dominated at home. Ideal situation would be if you could start Bassitt only at home in a series. He's looking like he may surpass Scherzer as the #3 guy. Too bad Lauer lost his mojo he had earlier as well, since he could have been a nice #3. Right now would line the rotation up as: 1) Gausman 2) Bieber 3) Bassitt 4) Scherzer Things could change however over the next two weeks.
  9. This is what I'm looking for! Scherzer has kind of been meh and the Jays really need him to start pitching well with the Postseason around the corner. Scherzer in top form as the #3 guy would be huge in a 5 or 7-game series.
  10. Gausman peaking at the right time. Pitching like an ace right now. If the Postseason started today, he's got to be your Game #1 starter right? Unless Bieber shakes off some rust over the next couple of outings, would roll with Gausman.
  11. The way Santander was playing earlier and considering the Jays have went on their run and have been in first place pretty much without him in the fold, I kind of understand those sentiments. If Santander is healthy and like his old self, that power bat definitely helps in the middle of the lineup. As good as Lukes has been filling in for injuries, a healthy Santander is way more impactful in the Postseason.
  12. I would rather have Tyler O'Neill and his contract over Santander right now. Santander still has time to prove himself though, so not writing him off just yet.
  13. Would be nice if the Blue Jays could beat the Dodgers in the World Series this year. Stick it to him!
  14. Dodgers have lost 5 straight lol.
  15. O/U on home runs Scherzer gives up today? 1.5 Hopefully they're all solo shots!
  16. Framber seems like an *******. Pardon my French.
  17. The Jays need to sign a #1 type/front of the rotation starter and likely another arm. Like I said, if the price was right, I'm not opposed to a Jays/Bassitt reunion. Over a 162 game season, he's a valuable arm to have. 1) Bieber or another arm 2) Gausman 3) Lauer 4) Berrios 5) Bassitt Wouldn't complain about that rotation above. As for Berrios, you're expecting him to have a bounce back season and pitch like a #3? Would be nice, but not holding my breath. Anyways, you're the one who said you would choose Vlad as the team MVP over Springer, so yeah you're stubborn as is!
  18. Yeah Bassitt is what he is now: a durable, innings-eater backend starter with limited upside. Not a bad thing during the course of a 162 game season and you can do a lot worse. He's been solid and consistent during his tenure here: 2.6, 2.3 and 2.1 WAR seasons. I'm actually okay if the Jays did decide to bring back Bassitt on a one-year deal, but yeah wouldn't be anywhere close to the $21M AAV he's earning now. If you can get him between $12-15M on a one-year deal, something to contemplate. We'll see how the market pans out this offseason and if there are any higher upside arms available in that price range or via trade.
  19. Hopefully the Jays get this Gausman in the Postseason. Would be huge! If Gausman is cruising through, I hope we don't see him lifted by the 5th or 6th inning in a Postseason game. Given the pen struggles and volatility lately, that extra inning or two we can get from Gausman or Bieber can really help.
  20. Given some of the Blue Jays bullpen struggles, we need some SP's like Gausman to go 7 or 8 innings if they can. Makes it much easier to manage the bullpen afterwards rather than from the 5th/6th inning on.
