  1. LMAO of course its up to debate with you hahaha!
  2. Hopefully we see more of this from Manoah! Also, great to see the Jays finally use the long ball. Hopefully its the start of this lineup raking.
  3. I would like to see Manoah do it a couple more times before declaring he's back. Tonight was definitely encouraging though. If Manoah can right the ship, definitely puts the Jays in a better position down the stretch and in the Postseason.
  4. While I'm at it to get you homers started and fired up: AA was a better GM and baseball mind during his time with the Jays than Atkins has been!
  5. You never think any criticism of this FO is warranted haha. Again, my main argument was not arguing Gibson is a better signing that Bassitt. I was mainly criticizing the Jays for handing over 60M to an aging starter who is more of a No. 3/4 guy. Just was using Gibson as an example, showing how the Orioles don't have a long term commitment and will have money to spend whereas the Jays have 20M each tied up the next two seasons to Bassitt after this. But you flipped it around making it sound like I was complaining the Jays should have signed Gibson instead of Bassitt. Of course, with every move Atkins makes, you're going to give him a free pass, using execuses or saying well yeah the Jays had to overpay, defending him. I bet you even defend him on signing Morales and Roark lol Again, I have nothing wrong with Bassitt. He's been decent this season and hasn't been awful. Not a fan of him paying him 40M over the next two seasons when this team is up against the luxury tax threshold. That was my main argument and you with Brownie flipped turning around everything to fit your agenda!
  6. I'm not pissing and moaning, just stating that its not one of Atkins better FA signings. Given how this team is close to the luxary tax threshold, that $20M each season towards Bassitt in 2024 and 2025 could prove costly and tie up the hands of this FO from adding another significant piece during the offseason or at the trade deadline, unless Rogers approves it. You're one of the biggest homers on this board. Anytime anyone criticizes Atkins, you come rushing to his defense. You pretty much think Atkins can do no wrong and its sickening. Not worth arguing with you and Brownie who pretty much both wear blinders when its come to Atkins and this FO.
  7. They have the best GM in baseball.
  8. Yup, some players might never be the same after a concussion agreed. It's tough to point his struggles this season on his concussion last September given his age already and decline, but it could be a possibility.
  9. Yup, cherry pick arguments now as you do with stats to defend this front office. You're another huge homer and apologist on this board! I'm not bemoaning how the front office failed to sign Gibson. I was using it as an example how he has been more valuable than Bassitt so far and only has a one-year commitment versus 3 years. I was criticizing Atkins on giving an aging starter like Bassitt $60M over 3 years.
  10. Where did I ever suggest Atkins is s***? I've criticized him and also have praised him as well regarding FA signings/trades. I've never said he's s***. He's done a solid job and has put together a competitive team over the last couple of years and they should remain competitive. Is Atkins incredible like you praise him to be? So far from 2021-2023, he hasn't taken this team to the next level. The Jays still remain just a team competing for the WC and they haven't won a Postseason series with this squad. He hasn't locked up core players like Bo, which leaves question marks for this team after 2025. The farm system hasn't developed players or pitchers that could be called up and step in. This team is already at the luxury tax threshold with the current roster. You and some other posters have a lovefest with Atkins for some reason where in your eyes he's been perfect and can't do any wrong. You defend every decision and move he makes.
  11. I guess I was being nice towards Atkins and giving him too much credit haha. Also, probably made that comment after his 9 inning shutout/complete game back at the beginning of May and also when he went 8 innings one game. Has he continued that level moving forward? You can say he's been inconsistent since and has been meh. Again, nothing against Bassitt. He's been solid this season. Is he worth $60+ million over 3 years? My concern given his age and financial commitment, could end up being a bad signing. We'll see. Regardless, he's a back-end No. 3 starter/No. 4 starter IMO.
  12. He's a backend No.3 starter/No. 4 starter. There isn't much of a difference but alright. You always get set-off when I criticize Atkins and this FO. I don't mind Bassitt like I said. He hasn't been awful and has been solid. I'm not the biggest fan of the contract. If it ties up what the Jays can do financially, it will hurt them in 2024 and 2025 when they need to add more pieces to the roster. That is my concern. If money isn't an issue, then sure! Though if it prevents the Jays from making other additions, not good. Eovaldi would have been a great add for sure obviously. I know you were a big advocate to sign him.
  13. Merryweather also having a great season with the Cubs. It happens all the time with relievers. Plus it's tough to hold onto an arm for over 3-4 years and hope they turn into something, especially if they aren't performing for you at the MLB level. Sucks they let go of Adams and Payamps, but oh well. This FO has had mixed results when it comes to assessing BP arms for some reason.
  14. Yeah he's been healthy for the most part this season. Not a bad signing by the Red Sox when they made it. $10M overall invested starting from 2022.
  15. The big BJMB homer and apologist coming out with pitch forks after calling Bassitt a No. 4 starter lol. You do realize Bassitt still has over 40M owed on his contract past this season for his age 35 and 36 season? So far this season he has posted a 4.00 ERA, and 4.57 FIP. Orioles have got more value out of Gibson for $10M and they have no long term commitment to him after this season. Again I don't have an issue with Bassitt this season. He's been solid and I've said that numerous times in other threads. Sure he's a No.3/4 guy but nothing more. Was he worth $60M over three years? An overpay IMO given his age. Considering that the Jays are at the luxury tax threshold, that $40M over the next two seasons could prevent the Jays from making other big moves. But yeah any criticism of Atkins, I know you'll come defending him. I always get a good laugh at your responses! You're such a huge homer haha.
  16. I'll go with Schnieder tonight
  17. Paxton has been having a solid season.
  18. The Blue Jays and MLB wouldn't let any players play with a concussion. We're already in August. If side effects from the concussion he suffered last October were still an issue, they would have been addressed in ST or earlier this season.
  19. I think if his concussion was still an issue, this would have been brought up earlier this season. He wouldn't have been playing all the way till this point. The Jays and MLB wouldn't let any ballplayer play injured with a concussion. Could possibly be some reasons for his struggles this season, though I don't think it should be an excuse to explain his poor play. He's an aging, injury prone 33-year-old outfielder.
  20. You think everyone cheats lol. You used that as an excuse for the Rays early success this season.
  21. Yeah he was definitely a huge improvement in the field over Troy Glaus. It was refreshing to watch! Glaus offensively was a huge force in this lineup. He actually had a solid year in St. Louis posting a 4.8 WAR in 2008, but then after was done. Jays probably could have used his bat in 2008 though. Rolen was really solid in 2009 and 2010. Still posted 4 + WAR seasons at age 34 and 35.
  22. I loved watching Rolen here when he was with the Jays, even though it was for a short time.
  23. I wonder if any extension talks took place when the Jays acquired him. Jays definitely will miss Chapman, and will be tough to replace him. Unless the Jays pull off a trade for Arenado in the offseason.
  24. This doesn't get brought up enough on here. Everyone praises Atkins on his FA signings/trades more than they did AA. But AA did lock up two of the best franchise players of the last decade to very team friendly extensions! We've also seen AA work his magic in Atlanta, locking up core players to team friendly extensions. Atkins hasn't done that at all yet with players like Bo or Vlad. In hindsight, not signing Vlad to an extension is looking like the right move, but even if Vladdy was hitting like he did in 2021, doubt he would have been locked up to a team friendly extension. Atkins has done well with some big FA signings obviously - Gausman, Semien as a buy low etc and with some trades like Chapman, buying low on Ray, Matz, etc. Otherwise, the Springer, Bassitt, Ryu contracts haven't looked that good. Springer is looking worrisome and could be toast for the remaining years of his contract. Bassitt is being paid over $40M as a No. 4 starter. Overall, AA was definitely the better baseball mind and still is. Under AA, this team came close to a World Series. We haven't seen that under Atkins yet.
