Is Josh Allen still winning the MVP bud? haha.
  2. Who said Marte was a star? I never did.
  3. Spanky sit's on the sidelines posting "LOL" haha classic Spanky!
  4. Belt and KK at this stage in their careers aren't in the same conversation of players like Marte. C'mon Max, be better! Yes the signings of Belt and KK by this front office were terrific pickups as buy low FA's. Sometimes they work or sometimes they don't. So yeah the Jays definitely got lucky Belt and KK performed the way they did.
  5. If Marte was a Blue Jay, it would have been "what a great buy low from Ross Atkins and Marte is for real." Since Marte plays for another team, he's just been lucky and his bounce back is a fluke.
  6. Looking forward to enjoying Game 7 tonight! Couldn't care less about the arguing and bickering whether the D'Backs or Jays are better lol. You guys are too much!
  7. Wonder which Mad Max shows up tonight. Tough game to call.

Better for this to happen now than in the second half or leading up to the Playoffs. Hopefully the Bills could figure things out. Winning the division for them is important. Yeah the Dolphins need to prove they could be a top team, which they haven't so far. Failed against Buffalo and Philly, both on the road. Will definitely give you that! Dolphins still need to show more.
  9. I took Dick
  10. Clemens did pitch well in 2006 for the Astros - 2.30 ERA / 3.02 FIP and a 3.4 WAR in 19 games. Astros might not have made the Postseason, but he still was an effective pitcher for them. In 2007, Clemens looked pretty much done with the Yankees. He was 44 and pitched more like a No. 4/5 starter instead of a No. 1/2 starter. I'm not giving this strategy a "ringing endorsement" so I don't know why you're making it seem like I am. Who knows what Verlander does after he becomes a FA in 2025. Does he retire, or does he sign another contract somewhere? Does he sit on the fence for a bit before making a decision? If Verlander wanted to sit out the first 2-3 months of the season, he could and I bet a team would still give him close to $20 million to make 18 starts or so and pitch in the Postseason. It's mainly dependant on the individual pitcher. I suggested that with Ohtani it might not be a bad idea to just have him make 18-20 or so starts during the regular season so you can have him at 100% in the Postseason. Ohtani as a pitcher has never made more than 28 starts or pitched more than 166 innings. In 2021 and 2023, he only made 23 starts in each of those seasons.

Bills disappointing once again! This Bills aren't playing like an elite team.
  12. Verlander is still under control for 2024, though he becomes a FA in 2025. Yeah maybe instead of pitching a full season, he signs with a team in June, builds up his arm strength in the minors and pitches mainly in the second half. Helps him stay fresh and you're not exhausting his arm over 162 game season. I could see him doing that maybe in his last year or two before he retires. I'm sure a team would still give him $20-25M to pitch just half a season and in the Postseason. I suggested a while ago the team who signs Ohtani should do the same thing with him if they have the rotation depth to do so. Only have Ohtani pitch in the second half and the Postseason so you have him at his best and he's not being overworked over a 162 game season. You improve the chances of him staying healthy into October. Have Ohtani only make 15-18 starts during the regular season in the second half and you keep him fresh for the Postseason when it really matters.
  13. He only did that twice. Once in 2006 with the Astros and in 2017 with the Yankees. His last two seasons in baseball.
  14. Best post of the thread!
  15. Gallen and Wheeler matchup should be sick. Or they both suck and give up 4-5 ER's haha.
  16. Verlander should have been pulled after 3 innings.
  17. Connor last night after the D'Backs tied up the series 2-2.
  18. Yeah I wasn't a fan of the Dickey trade at the time it happened as well. AA's worst trade for sure. Thought the Jays bought high on a 38-year-old knuckleballer coming off an NL Cy Young. Plus the Jays had to f***ing roster Josh Thole lol. Dickey wasn't anything special during his time with the Jays, but he was consistent and reliable in terms of making his 33-34 starts and pitching over 200 innings. Still, missing out on the seasons Syndergaard had in 2015 and 2016 really hurts. Imagine in 2016 a rotation with Syndergaard, Stroman and Sanchez. Even in 2018 and 2019, Thor posted 4 WAR seasons so he was still a valuable asset. Travis d'Arnaud was solid in 2014 and 2015 as well. Jays got hosed. I still think Varsho could be a solid player. Like you said, the trade overall may never be a net positive but as long as Varsho can give the Jays 3-4 WAR seasons moving forward with excellent defense in CF, he'll help this team over the next 2-3 seasons.

Dolphins @ Eagles for SNF this week! This should be a real test for the Dolphins.

If he plays disciplined, I think he definitely is for sure.

I never said Purdy should be considered an MVP and I never even considered him one. Spanky said Allen is the best QB in the game because of QBR and when I looked it up, Purdy was No. 1 in that statistical category. Tua will be considered by voters obviously and if he finishes with better numbers and the Dolphins finish with a better record, he likely gets it. Allen has a chance as well, but it will come down to where each team finishes in the division. I still like Buffalo, but I don't consider them as one of the best teams in the NFL right now. They're on the borderline though. Just show some consistency, play disciplined football and the Bills are right at the top IMO. Also, experience in the NFL Playoffs go a long way. Allen and the Bills have failed to win the big game yet that gets them to the Super Bowl.
  22. Yeah awesome night for Postseason baseball. Epic comebacks by the Astros and D'Backs. Happy now we have a series in the NLCS.
  23. Kirk works well behind the plate and is an excellent framer. Just need him to hit for some more power and to get into better shape. Just put up Gregg Zaun offensive numbers and all will be fine! Should be good for 2 WAR or a bit more. Jansen needs to stay healthy. Would be nice to see him stay healthy enough to get 500 PA and go off hitting like 30 HR's or something haha. But yeah even with 300 PA, Jansen should be good for 2 WAR as well.
  24. I'm going to Dunedin for a weekend at the beginning of December. Will make sure Vlad is there and putting the work in.
  25. Should replace Ross Atkins with Donald Sutherland.
