  1. At the end of the day, this front office did nothing in the offseason to address the major issue facing this team. I had no problem with signing KK and IKF as depth guys on the bench who might squeeze out 300 AB each, and if the money spent on them didn't tie up funds for other FA's. Atkins again jumped the gun early signing these guys, kind of like how he did with players like Morales, Roark etc. With Varsho already here and who could play CF, should have targeted a corner outfielder with some pop and there were plenty available this offseason who wouldn't have cost all that much. Someone capable of hitting around 20-30 HR's. I didn't mind the Green deal, but at the time never considered it a steal as some others like Brownie did. 32-year-old reliever coming off major surgery and a significant chunk of time missed were red flags. If Green is healthy, he can be great. Though not sure I would be handing out $10.5M for a lottery ticket, when those type of arms could be had for half the cost. E.g. Liam Hendriks. Always have been a fan of JT, but he wasn't even my third or fourth choice of available bats who could have signed as DH's here. 13M as well was a hefty price tag to pay. Vogelbach is still on the team? lol. I haven't even heard of him or seen him play at all. Waste of $2M guaranteed money.
  2. Term just loves to troll but he's the most rational of them at least and likely comes to terms that it's over with this front office. Brownie and Shatkins probably still think Atkins is one of the best GM's in baseball. They won't ever wave the white flag and admit defeat. Spanky will jump ship and "lol" his way onto the bandwagon.
  3. Haven't even seen Brownie post here the last couple of days lol. He probably goes down with the Atkins ship till the very end.
  4. Stanton isn't having that bad of a season himself. Blue Jays could actually use a bat like him.
  5. Not going to engage in a baseball discussion with someone who just responds "lol" to every post.
  6. Typical Spanky response lol.
  7. I think they're giving away free Romano replica jerseys this weekend!
  8. Not every GM. Only applies to Atkins.
  9. Vlad for the past two seasons hasn't come close to being his 2021 self, so you have to either move on or adjust around him. Can't continue to bank on him recapturing his 2021 self. I expect Bo will rebound at some point. He's not the greatest hitter as he's all average, low BB skills and so/so power, but hopefully he comes around to being a 20/80 guy with a low .800 OPS when all is said and done. What did you really expect with Springer? He's an expensive, aging, and broken down player. Not the best FA signing by Atkins. Kirk only had a hot two months in 2022 and has been awful offensively ever since. He's out of shape and as a professional athlete, needs better conditioning. The FO struck out on their assessment on him and other catchers they had (Moreno). Don't expect the Jays to have an Orioles pipeline spilling onto the MLB roster, but they should at least have some players in their minor league system who could contribute. Again, a massive fail by Atkins and this FO as they haven't been able to develop a steady pipeline of players or arms in the minors that they could use. You pretty much just placed blame and criticized the Atkins FO for their failures with this post lol.
  10. Isn't it Atkins job to fix issues with this roster? These Atkins homers are hilarious.
  11. Lmao they didn't though. A lot of "power" bats were available who could have played a corner OF spot or DH and instead opted to roll again with defensive minded players like KK and IKF. I had nothing wrong with those signings for depth, but didn't want them starting a majority of the games. As well, you couldn't go into this season banking on Vladdy to be his 2021 self. Had to bring in some reinforcements and improve the lineup as much as possible.

Hopefully Edmonton tonight could force a Game 7. From an entertainment perspective, would like to see McDavid in the Stanley Cup.
  13. Yeah he did trade away some pieces that could have helped that Jays team in 2006. Hudson would have been nice to keep, but I suppose having Aaron Hill around made O-Dog expendable. It's too bad Hill couldn't play shortstop and the Jays kept Hudson at 2B. That would have been a sick infield combo. Russ Adams was awful. Bush went onto to have some solid years in Milwaukee (3.8 WAR season in 2006). Really could have used him in the rotation that season. Batista was more of a salary dump I think, but still had a solid season (2.9 WAR in 2006). Jays could have used both those arms in 2006 and maybe they're a 90+ win team. Sucks that both Towers and Chacin literally s*** the bed.
  14. I still have it and also have an autographed jersey by him as well. Thanks again man! I gotta wear it to my next Jays game or BJMB meetup haha.
  15. Haha. Towers was sometimes animated on the mound. He always was a gamer. Never was annoying as Manoah or Stroman though. I think even in 2005 at the end of August, he had a beef with Casey Blake. He was saying post-game he should have got Casey Blake out since he was hitting only .200, and Casey Blake responded back after lol. As well, he was one of the few pitchers who beamed A-Rod after what he did. Should have been Brandon League with his 100mph fastball instead of the 88mph Josh Towers fastball haha.
  16. Yeah I wasn't a huge fan of JPR at the time but after looking back, he did have a really tall order in the AL East at the time with both the Yankees and Red Sox dominating and outspending everyone. Revisionist history, he wasn't that bad of a GM. Drafting and player development still was meh though. The Jays never had the payroll they do today and like you said with the wildcard era changing, I'm sure their approach during the offseason and at the deadline would have been different for some of those seasons. Some JPR teams would have made the Postseason IMO.
  17. That 2005 Jays team ended up winning 80 games, after a disastrous 2004. Halladay would have won the Cy again that season. Towers became their ace and actually was great that summer! Chacin was solid as well. Ted Lilly sucked in 2005 haha. Dave Bush was meh. Offensively the team wasn't that great in 2005. Still a fun team to watch though. I went to a lot of games that season at the Dome. Both Cat and Towers were my favourite players. Wonder how many more games they could have won with a healthy Halladay and if Lilly wasn't as bad. The offseason following the 2005 season, JPR made some big splashes. Improved the lineup by acquiring Troy Glaus, Lyle Overbay and Bengie Molina. Sucked they had to trade O-Dog though. Went out and signed BJ Ryan and AJ Burnett, two of the best FA arms that offseason.
  18. Haha yeah. Even in a 20-team dynasty thinking of cutting him loose and picking up Gary Sanchez lol.
  19. Is it time to drop Alejandro Kirk in fantasy?
  20. Mary Brown Chicken is going to have to find a new face!
  21. Romano has been rock solid as a closer from 2021-2023, but like Laika said there have been some warning signs along the way which kind of foreshadow his decline. He's also 31 right now as well. To expect him to keep pitching at those levels and results moving forward...
  22. Remember Miguel Batista as a closer in 2005? His entrance music out of the bullpen was Gangsta's Paradise haha.
  23. Thank you Laika for pointing this out!
